Happy 34th Birthday to me... and my thoughts on Spirit Day

I've had an exciting day, mostly trying to keep up with all the people wishing me happy birthday. Thank you so much for making my day special. 33 was pretty awesome, my first book deal, becoming a multi published author, my bff had a baby, it's been exciting to say the least, on top of making through the recession with my business without laying off anyone and even hiring new people. And it does get better, because my health is picking up even though I had a few rough patches this year.

It does get better. I swear, because every day I'm with my husband, I'm amazed he made it through high school alive. My mother-in-law told me about the kids who taunted my husband for about liking boys or girls. Yet, he made it through because he is a good spirit who does no harm and "at the end of the darkness, there you were" he told me. He found his life mate in me and I found myself in him.

I found a man who understood I wanted to be a boy so much I cried when my parents put me in a dress. I found someone who loves because of who I am and doesn't try to change me to fit the box. I wanted to be a boy so much, I made them cut my hair and bound my breasts in high school. I was taunted and bullied and threatened for being different. I'm a tough person today not because of bullying but because of working hard and clawing my way to the top and being the best CEO I can be.

I knew when I saw that Spirit Day was on the 10/20/2010, I was excited. My birthday was the next day and I get to wear purple two days in a row :D. I immediately made sure everyone I knew was wearing purple and spreading the word because bullying has to stop now. There were so many days I wanted it all to end but I knew there were people who love me who would miss me. Just like there are so many people who miss these kids we lost. In the kids we lost, we lost a doctor who may have cured cancer or AIDS. We lost a future Nobel peace prize winner who may have stopped all war or famine. We lost our future when we lost those kids. So let these kids know, you always have someone here and try your hardest to make sure those kids at risk know that too.

So to everyone, in the words of Abe Lincoln in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Be excellent to each other... and most of all... PARTY ON DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spirit Day

Originally posted by [info] neo_prodigy at Spirit Day

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

RIP Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh (top)
RIP Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle)
RIP Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

Well, I'm back from RWA 2010. It was awesome and I found it quite interesting to compare to RT. RWA, especially celebrating their 30th year conference, had a lot of high profile authors, including Nora Roberts and Sabrina Jeffries. Nora Roberts was an amazing speaker. She lit up the room. I was completely blown away and I felt like I wanted to run out of the room and write my next novel after hearing her speak.

This isn't an easy business to be in. We get rejected a lot and we also hear that ...

*crawls out from under Blaze and Jason*

So Hi there! Sorry I've neglected to stop by but Jason and Blaze were demanding I tell their Christmas Story. I have so many projects I'm working on, sometimes I feel like I'm just running around in a circle chasing my tail.

Look for more news about the sequel to Replacement Guitarist soon. Thanks!

I'm so sorry I've been neglecting my LJ here. I've been so busy with RL and writing and submitting Replacement Guitarist 2 and then with the releases and also getting ready to submit my latest story, a BDSM Femmedomme story to my agent, the fabulous ePubagent :D

See you all on the flip side :D
