A Cyborg Named Strive
Cyborgs were given a model type and number when they were manufactured. It was inked high on their cheek. And that was how the cruel creators, the Humanoid Alliance, referred to them.
They gave themselves names. The names often reflected something important to them.
Strive chose his name because, at that time, he was merely striving to exist. He had no interest in killing or training or anything else warrior-related. And he processed that put him in danger.
After Strive and his brethren escaped the clutches of the Humanoid Alliance, he continued to strive but now, he’s striving to be the best artist he can be. And he’s striving to find his own version of calm, serenity, peace.

Strive For Forever
(This description is still VERY rough.)
This cyborg seeks to vanquish an ancient entity and save his curvy human female.
Euryale made a terrible mistake. She opened a container she shouldn’t have touched and released one of the oldest lifeforms in existence. That all-powerful entity is now utilizing her as its host and is slowly draining her energy.
Soon, she’ll die.
Euryale has accepted this fate and is determined to use her remaining moments in the universe to save as many lives as she can.
Her plans do NOT include a smoldering hot, poetry-wielding cyborg willing to decimate entire planets to save her.
While under the control of the Humanoid Alliance, Strive, a K Model cyborg, disobeyed direct orders and refused to kill on their behalf. If he hadn’t escaped their cruel clutches, his defiance would have led to his death.
The male knowingly risked that fate to save the lifespans of complete strangers.
There is nothing he wouldn’t do to protect Euryale. The curvy human female is his genetic match, the one being he is destined to defend.
And she is in danger.
Strive would break every vow, cross every boundary, risk absolutely everything to keep her from harm.
Including battle a deity no one has ever defeated.

Throwback Thursday – Warlord Reunited
Berke appears to be the emotionally coldest Warlord. He lives on the coldest planet, a permanently-covered-with-ice planet.
But he chose that planet for the most heart-wrenching reason. And his ‘coldness’ is all a facade. Because he hurts, he yearns, he BURNS for his destined mate.
She doesn’t know this, of course. Elle now, many solar cycles later, plans to sever their bond…permanently.

Solar cycles ago, Berke, a savage Chamele Warlord, found his gerel, the one being he is destined to be with for all time…except he couldn’t embrace that fate. He was fighting a series of brutal wars.
To protect his little human female, he conveyed her far from the Chamele sector. He then returned to the endless battles, concealing his pain, his anguish, his need, under a thick layer of ice.
His gerel was safe. That was all that mattered to him.
When Elle was a young bounty hunter, she bonded with an arrogant warrior on a distant planet. She was deliriously happy…for a while. Then he dumped her in a strange settlement far from his home and left, never to return.
Their parting caused her excruciating pain—both physical and emotional. She endured it, earned the esteemed role of head bounty hunter of an academy, salvaged a bit of a life from the disaster her primitive warrior had made of it.
Now, two of her bounty hunters have made the same terrible mistake. Elle is determined to rescue her friends and break their connections with their Chamele Warlords.

Caring For Our Soil
Everything comes from something else. The nutrients in our food, for example, come from the nutrients in our soil. This is why soil integrity is so fraggin’ important.
In the past, I did a sh*t job at caring for the soil around our home. I would put (excessive) weeds and prune the rose bushes and send all that to the city for composting. Which was a great thing to do. Except I never gathered that compost from the city. I didn’t sprinkle it on the ground, returning those nutrients to the soil.
Which meant my soil was depleted of all that good stuff.
I’m trying to restore the balance now. I am creating our own compost and I’m returning those nutrients back to the soil.
We live and we learn and we do better. (smiles)

Cyborgs And Language
Cyborgs have access to almost every database in existence. They can speak any language (including cat – grins) and have millions of words available to them
That doesn’t mean they can speak that language or wield those words well. (grins)
Language is a skill. Many cyborgs obtained that skill.
Raw is one of the rare warriors who isn’t skilled in using languages…as his female finds out.

Muse Food – Maps
I LOVE maps. They not only give us a great snapshot of the layout of an area but they also reflect what the mapmaker felt was important.
(The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this replica of an old map on the Norwegian Getaway.)
Military folks want maps that show key military sites. Mountain climbers want maps that show elevations. Folks who are concerned about fresh water supplies want maps that show lakes and rivers and other bodies of water.
If the hero or heroine of the story you’re now writing or reading crafted a map, what would they show on it?

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – May 28
I spent the week playing with the first few scenes of Intrepid Encounter, the fifth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (likely releasing in November). I continue to have fun with it, getting to know Intrepid and his Valkyrie.
I expect to receive the first edits for Strive For Forever, the fourth core story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in July), soon. When I have those edits, I’ll switch to Strive’s story, complete the changes and return Strive For Forever to my Awesome Editor as soon as I can.

Listening To The Birds Sing
Whenever I have a spare couple of minutes, I go outside and I listen to the birds sing.
There have been so many birds in our neighborhood this year. There are cardinals and blue jays, robins and sparrows, hawks and crows. The variety has been amazing.
And the birds have been boisterous. There is so much trilling and chirping and chick-a-dee-dee-dees all around us.
This reminds me that it is unlikely the cyborgs’ and other characters’ surroundings would be quiet. There would be background noises and that can be part of world building.

Characters We Want To Spend Time With
As a writer, I spend a LOT of time with my characters. I devote three months to writing and revising their stories, often for eight hours a day, seven days a week.
It is important that they are beings I want to spend time with. I don’t have to like everything about them. Very few beings are 100% likable. But I should find them interesting and engaging and worthy of time.
I love Raw and Taytu from Raw Desires. I also love Strive and Euryale from Strive For Forever (releasing in July). And I’m certain I’ll love Intrepid and his Valkyrie from Intrepid Encounter (releasing in November).
I wouldn’t write their stories unless I loved them. (grins)

Genetic Matches As A Friend Group
Grin, Raw and Strive, the heroes or Bare And Grin Him, Raw Desires and Strive For Forever (releasing in July), are best friends.
Does that mean their genetic matches will be friends?
Not necessarily. But it does increase the odd of that happening (which is EXACTLY what happens). The same aspects their cyborgs love in their females might result in them liking each other. And they have a huge thing in common – they all love cyborgs. (grins)
