Gardening – Impatiently Waiting
I’m sowing pepper and eggplant seeds in the basement grow station next week. I CAN’T WAIT. Woot! I’m super excited and am counting down the days.
I wish I could sow those seeds now. But it is as detrimental to sow seeds early as it is to sow them late. If we sow seeds too early, the plants outgrow the grow station’s capabilities before we’re able to safely transplant them outside. That can kill plants, plants we’ve carefully tended for months.
So I wait. Impatiently. (grins)

Muse Food – Blue Sky It
In business (where I sometimes play in my other life), we often use blue sky as a verb. To blue sky something is to brainstorm without any inhibitions, without any restrictions. There’s not a cloud in the sky. The weather is wonderful. The space is clear. It is completely blank. And we can fill that space with anything we want.
It is often used after a huge change. We discard everything that happened previously because it is no longer applicable and we start fresh.
Our heroes and heroines often go through this when they experience a huge change. Maybe they’ve landed on a different planet where the rules they know no longer apply. They’re free to reinvent themselves. Who will they CHOOSE to become? And how will that impact their future?

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – January 12
I am in the middle of completing corporate taxes. Yep. Ugh. It isn’t a fun task. But it has to be done. And I’m lucky to have a business (the romance writing business) to complete taxes for. I focus on that.
Once the taxes are completed, I’ll likely celebrate by reading some great romance novels. (smiles) That’s my favorite reward. Reading romance novels makes me SO happy.

Tell Loved Ones They Are Appreciated
I don’t take any chances with loved ones. I tell them I love them every opportunity I am given. And I tell them I appreciate them. I am known for my thank you notes and emails.
I truly value any gesture that shows other people are thinking of me. Because I know everyone is super busy and often stressed and occupying any terrain in another person’s heart and/or brain is a gift.

Time For Hibernation
(This is a stock photo. I thought it was so very pretty.)
I’m in a corner of the universe where it usually snows during January (I have to say usually because climate change is changing that and snow is no longer guaranteed).
It is cold and blustery and so very pretty. And I prefer to stay inside our home.
And read.
Snowy days are great for hibernating, for snuggling under the covers and reading some great romance novel. (smiles) That’s my idea of a perfect day.

Throwback Thursday – Raw Desires
Any intel cyborgs gather is shared with their millions of brethren. This pooled knowledge helps them tremendously in battle. It is one of the reason some of them survived.
It helps…a little… in winning the hearts of their genetic matches. But it can also backfire on them. Spectacularly. (grins) As Raw will soon find out.
Not every female is the same. And his female will definitely drive the point home to him…with a dagger.
Raw Desires
His human female is attempting to kill him.
This cyborg finds that adorable.
Raw, a K model cyborg, is one of the lucky warriors who has located his genetic match. He hears his human female’s voice over the communication lines and immediately processes she is his.
Winning her affections will be a greater challenge. Battle has always been Raw’s focus. The rough-and-tough warrior has no idea how to engage anyone’s tender emotions.
Fortunately, he isn’t alone in the universe. His unmatched male friends help him craft a plan.
All Raw has to do is relay a few unsettlingly sweet words to his female and give her the thoroughly unfunctional wall decoration he has obtained. He projects she will then jump into his big, strong arms and beg him to claim her.

Setting Up A Grow Station
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I sow seeds in our basement grow station.
The basement grow station sounds fancy. (grins) But all it really is are shelves set up with lights. These lights are those regular long LED tubes you might find in a garage or an older office and can buy at Home Depot or Costco or any home improvement place. They merely sport the right lumens (2000 to 3000 lumens per square foot is the minimum for seed starting) for growing plants.
There is NO NEED to buy special grow lights. Those are often overpriced and, ironically, they often don’t last very long.
Regular lights with the right lumens should do that job well. (smiles)
If you want to make the process much easier for you, consider also buying a timer to turn these lights on or off.

Throwback Thursday – Provoking Odium
Provoking Odium is a Beauty And The Beast story. (smiles) That’s one of my favorite tropes.
Briella, Provoking Odium’s human heroine, is nicknamed The Beast. She flies like a wild thing. Not many beings have skills in the air like she does. And she’s fearless. But I suspect most beings who call her Beast do so because she is severely scarred.
Odium, Provoking Odium’s cyborg hero, is physically perfect. His nanocybotics ensured he didn’t scar from the many wounds he endured over his long lifespan. And he was manufactured to look like the designer’s ideal (yet very much larger) human male.

Snow Magic
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I flew home via London, England yesterday, on Christmas Eve.
The flight was packed with kids.
As we left London, some of them (stationed all over the plane) sang ‘Rain, rain, go away.’
On repeat.
For at least a half hour.
(I fell asleep after that.)
When we approached Toronto, we saw that the city was blanketed with a layer of fresh white snow.
One child whispered with wonder, “Snow.”
“Snow, mommy, snow.” This was said louder by another child.
Soon, it became a chant by kids seated all over the plane. I couldn’t understand some of the languages spoken but I KNEW what they were repeating.
Snow.
Snow.
Snow.
A child started singing the ‘Do you want to build a snowman’ song and other kids quickly joined in.
It was magical.
(smiles)
Truly magical as this snow had arrived on Monday, the 23rd, and we’re expecting 3 mm of rain on Friday, the 27th.
