A Quote From My Current Novel, The Guardian

"Greatness and heroism are not something that you are born with, but they are crowns that are placed upon you by someone else for some deed that destiny has cast upon you. "

Retirement

A thought that often enters my mind, especially after recent events in Florida.

I cannot invent an excuse as to why I should not work, nor can I find a reason to stay home. Status quo.

Road trip might be in order.

April approaches, a visit to CR!!

"The Last Centurion" shall get some extra attention. My next project, a police crime drama.

Acoustical Sunrise

This morning I grabbed a cup of coffee and drove over to Patriot Park, overlooking Tampa Bay.  The sun came up over Davis Islands and the Bay started to sparkle as a light tropical breeze created a ripple effect on the water.  I watched as Pelicans and Seagulls dove into the Bay seeking their breakfast.  Runners were up early and jogging along the Bayshore, trying to capture yesterdays youth.

It was amazing, the sound of silence.  So beautiful,  people watching with a cup of coffee…

The Simplification of the English Language (The American Literary Language)

Write as if your heart is speaking to you.  Write about your dreams.  Write about your wishes, your fantasies.  Write a story that comes from your very soul.  However, write it to a large audience so we can sell it!   The simplification of the English language, or, the American language as I hear in certain circles.  The readability factor should be between 60 – 70 on a scale of 100.  The grade level should be around 8 so that you can expand your audience.   What would Shakespeare think some four-hundred years later?  The downsizing of american literary works!  Should we be more concerned about the simplification of a word, or finding the right word that best describes our feeling, our passion at that very moment?  Keep it simply, but do not simplify to the point that the passion, the painted picture has been removed from our imagination.  If the reader cannot imagine, cannot see or feel our passion, then we as writers have failed that reader.

Tampa Florida Police

Shall I seek revenge? No that is not God's way.  Revenge will only tarnish the memories of my friends. I shall seek justice.

I can only pray for the future and remember the past.  There is nothing harder than the empty feeling inside of one's soul with the loss of a friend, a co-worker, a brother who placed his life on that thin blue line to protect our daily lives.  There is no explanation as to why people act the way that they do.  Their needs, their greeds are elevated to a level of...

Tears of an Angel (coming soon-excerpts)

Charles Santana, 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, Cuba 1898

We all settled in for the night around our make shift campfire.  I made it a point to sit down wind so that the smoke from our fire would attempt to fight off the mosquitoes and any other menacing creatures that happen to wonder into our hotel under the stars.  The only problem is that Scotter sat up wind from us, intentionally exposing our nostrils to those deadly fumes that he is so proud of.

I studied Jose as he sat...
