Quote of the Day

“Love receiving gift and also giving them.”

My Random Thought

Don’t forget those that helped you throughout the year. It’s time to show them a little love, care and how much they mean to you.

Quote of the Day

“Work on one thing at a time until finished.”

Henry Miller (writer)

Fellow writer to another, you really need to focus on one story at a time, having multiple projects doesn’t help a lot, you can easily get confused.

Celebrating… Anniversary with WordPress.com!

You registered on WordPress.com 4 years ago.

Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging.

.

I didn’t even know that I have been blogging for so long. I created this small space here to write down/blog about things that I am passionate about but never thought it’s already been 4 years since I started. Although, I wasn’t writing continuous but it’s nice to celebrate a passion that is still alive and kicking haha

Happy Anniversary to me! for keeping at it 🙂

Character Profile Sheets (Simple)

Crafting a character profile is actually quite fun and it helps to solidify the character that you have in mind; weaving traits, quirks, and nuances (to annoy them as well). Each detail will breathe some life into your character—personality, flaws, dreams—forming a more vivid descriptions of them (in your mind and for readers too). Here’s a simple one which would help and helps get it started.

Gender:

Sex:

My Characters: Reflections or Projections?

[image error]Pexels.com" data-medium-file="https://sereinchoo.files.wordpress.co..." data-large-file="https://sereinchoo.files.wordpress.co..." src="https://sereinchoo.files.wordpress.co..." alt="" class="wp-image-1149" />Photo by Todoran Bogdan on Pexels.com

Characters don’t mirror me (not a direct reflections of myself); rather, they’re fragments of my being.

(Characters from Empty Crown) I am not brave ShiWu, I am not as selfless as HeHuan, I am not as greedy as Xiao Mao and Da Mao, although I feel like I am a bit strict like JinKe. Yet they are what I hope to be (or to avoid).

They are also an embody of the spectrum of emotions I’ve experienced—moments of sorrow, rage, joy—all transcribed onto the pages and channeled through these diverse personas.

.
When my characters embody greed, it’s like that urge to devour everything on the plate or acquire all that catches my eye in a shop—those impulses I’ve felt are channeled into their actions.

In moments of joy, I find myself daydreaming of a blissful wedding, lending the emotional rollercoaster of nerves and elation to my characters.

When sadness takes hold, it’s reminiscent of the departure of a cherished one. I channel those emotions, the ache of loss, into the depths of my characters’ experiences.

Of course it’s not as simple as that, but my characters they are like my hopes, emotions, my views on the world, broke down into tiny parts, projected in their personalities.

It’s not all bleak but it’s not all flowery as well.

How about you? What do you think of your characters? Are you able to relate to any characters? If yes, what are they?

Quote of the Day

“Don’t believe them when they tell you how bad you are and how terrible your ideas are, but also don’t believe them when they start telling you how wonderful you are and how great your ideas are. Just believe in yourself and believe in your work and you’ll do just fine.”

Michael Uslan (film producer)

There’s going to be haters and lovers but don’t let it get to your head, too much of anything is no good in the end.

Paperback Upload 5

It’s the pricing, the last part of the book, ‘Paperback Rights & Pricing’.

Where you stand, the price of your book and your worth (okay not up till I have an identity crisis) but I thought long and hard about this, and decided to go with USD 11.99. I think for a new book, this is good. Because I don’t want to discouraged readers (by pricing it too high) or not earning at all (by pricing too low).

Furthermore, get yours now! Once I am famous. I will increase the price haha (evil laughter echoing behind). Jokes aside, you can adjust the price later if you think it’s not good enough, as always don’t worry too much.

So this is the layout, under ‘Territories’ and ‘Primary marketplace’, I selected ‘All territories’ and then selected ‘Amazon.com’ as the image below.

Afterward, input the price, the other markets will be adjusted in their local currency. On the right side, there’s ‘Expanded Distribution’ so I think that and as you can see the royalty is much lesser compared to buying at Amazon. So, dear readers, get them at Amazon, so I can get more $$.

Expanded distribution is good, to go wide but the profit you get isn’t as high, so depending on your needs, you can select/unselect that part.

*The price of printing will vary depending on your book. The below is just how much it would costs to print Empty Crown.

After checking that it is correct, you can proceed to click on the ‘Publish Your Paperback Book’. However, before you hit that button, you can also request a book proof, as seen below image. You can get everything check with your physical copy before you click the confirmation button.

*After you click ‘Publish Your Paperback Book’, you can’t go back to this page/do any edits. You gotta wait after the 72 hours check/review by Amazon, to edit anything. So take note!

And you are finally done – let’s wait 72 hours and check and see whether we will have any issues.

.
As of the moment this post is being shared, the book is fully prepared and ready for its much-awaited paperback debut, so if you find the posts useful and you want to support an aspiring author/indie author, please check out my novel down below. I would be so grateful! Get your Empty Crown Paperback (finally I can say that)! Launched as at 1st December 2023, meaning tomorrow!
