Cool Bookcases
This is killing me. I'm dying for a bookcase and HuffPo puts up this slideshow…I'm sure most of these are way out of my price range but it's nice to drool.
Some of these are cool looking, but they don't display the books. I like bookshelves to be at eye level.
My favorite:

Taylor Joseph
On Saturday I met Taylor Joseph in Borders. She was signing copies of her books. Joseph has published three YA novels. And guess what? She's SIXTEEN YEARS OLD!
I ended up buying her novel, Allison Investigates, and had her sign it for my 12 year-old cousin, Sydney.
Joseph keeps a blog about the publishing industry and her experiences as a young author. Check it out.
Check out her books on Amazon.

You'll Be Okay Part II
Timothy Moran is a man with a lot of time on his hands. I wrote a post about You'll Be Okay (My Life With Jack Kerouac) by Edie Kerouac Parker which was co-edited by Timothy Moran.
I mentioned that the writing was god-awful and to look at it on Google books if you wanted. Timothy Moran (who must troll the internet for people talking about his book) commented:
Considering that Moran didn't know enough about grammar to make "with" in the title of the book lowercase, I will stand by my statement t...

Whitewashing is when the publishing company redos a cover so that a black character is made to look "less black". Read it here.

This Series Definitely Would Have Been One Of My Favorites in 1993
John Grisham is making a children's series of books (or YA novels or whatever you call baby books) about a 13 year-old boy who "knows more about the law than most lawyers do".
And the kid's name is Theodore Boone.
I love you, John Grisham, I love you.
Huzzah! We are exalting knowledge over science-fiction/fantasy/destiny impossible to fulfill character traits.

The Ampersand & You
What Constitutes African-American Fiction and Why?
I was surprised to see Colson Whitehead's Sag Harbor on the list of PEN/Faulkner nominees. I was surprised because I had seen the book many, many times at Borders. No, I didn't see it here:
Now, Whitehead is most definitely African-American. Sag Harbor is most definitely a fiction book. But why doesn't he have a spot with the other fiction books?
The problem is that any and all African-American fiction gets put into this section, which means that James Baldwin is next to Romance...

Neverwhere
Ah, Neil Gaiman. Beloved Neil Gaiman. I am hesitant to call the dedication his fans show to him a "cult following" – I'd be better off going with "obsession".
I follow Neil on twitter (@neilhimself), I've linked to tumblr blogs dedicated to him (here) and I've stereotyped him (here). I'm not quite obsessed though, as Neverwhere is the first novel of his that I've read. (I've read parts of the Sandman comic book series).
THEN, while Google searching Neverwhere, I come to find out that it was a t...
