Picking brains: philosophy, hockey, faith and music
If you've followed me online, you may have picked up that I love interviews and enjoy learning from others through asking questions. It's been a theme of life as long as I can remember.
And so I've been grateful that I've been able to merge this interest into my role Content, Editorial and Public Relations Manager at Compassion Canada.
Over the past few months, I've had some really cool opportunities to connect with some incredible individuals, pick their brains, and learn.
Here are a few highlig...

Making SHE HAS A NAME: Behind the scenes documentary - PART ONE
What do filmmakers do when they're in lock down?
Revisit footage from the archive and string new content together. Dan, Matt and I have made available, for the first time, a behind-the-scenes documentary of our multi-faceted adventure making the film .
Filmed primarily in Thailand with portions shot in Canada, the BTS documentary highlights the challenges we faced while overseas (including major obstacles to overcome in the days before principle photography was to start) and lines u...

New Advent Series - Finding Advent
I'm happy to share that Finding Advent, my new Christmas series is now available.
Let's face it, this was a hard year, and it's not over yet. More than any time in recent memory, we’ve faced uncertainty. Health, finances, fellowship, daily routines - things we often take for granted - have been disrupted.
You may not even know if you'll be able to celebrate the Christmas season with the people you love. Christmas isn't going to be the same. But our God has not changed. And the miracle and the m...

Day 36 of self-isolation and #PoemPandemic feature is still spreading verse
It's already 36 days into the lockdown at the time of writing. Like you, I didn't know how long it would last.
When I started my #PoemPandemic feature I had the good intention of uploading to to my website each day (to supplement my primary channel on social media).
I haven't been able to keep pace here on the blog (excuses: home life of work-from-home, 2 young kids, and grading term papers during a freaking pandemic!) Which means I'm WAY behind on posting poems here.
But I wanted to let...

I wrestle | #PoemPandemic
It ain't easy. None of it.
In fact, I wrestle.
Life is a poetic journey, an experience of paradoxes and collisions.
How do you map your journey through life?

Nature Speaks | #PoemPandemic
This is the first poem in a series of poems I want to share during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I want join artists around the world who are sharing their art to speak life and beauty into strange times.
I wrote this poem while teaching English one summer in Mongolia. It was the experience of a lifetime. I lived on the edge of the Gobi, and there was an other-worldly moth invasion in UB. The summer taught me to time my ear, to listen in different ways.
I hope you enjoy it. Drop me a comment to...
Concerning the realm in real | #PoemPandemic
I love the story of the man born blind who, upon his first glimpse of light, sees the face of God.
This poem is a riff off that story, one worth looking up in the book of John.
