Great new skits, plays and reader's theatre for Easter

Spring is a time of possibilities and new opportunities.  I love its promise of renewal.

And let's be honest, it always is a relief to be leaving winter behind.  I live in Canada.  This winter had ups and downs, and in South Western Ontario, there was so much freezing rain.

As we look ahead to Easter, I'm excited to provide new scripts to help prepare your church or community to celebrate the greatest story ever told.

View the script details here, including synopses.

How'd I start writing about justice? Let me tell you...

Every once in a while I get asked, "How did you start to write about justice issues?"

For me, it was an interesting convergence of faith, art and justice in my own life. Newly aware I wanted to use my inclination for the written word to address justice issues I was shocked to learn about, I was given an opportunity.

That opportunity ended up being my contribution to this book: 30 Days of Prayer for the Voiceless, first published by photogenX in 2006 (the art/justice school founded by my fri...

Aesthetic Whistle-Blowers - an academic article on the importance of art in addressing injustices like human trafficking

In 2018 while I attended grad school a focus of my research was into different literary tactics used by writers during the original abolition movement in England.

I'm happy to share that some of that work will soon be available in The Palgrave International Handbook of Human Trafficking.   I wrote an article entitled, "Aesthetic Whistle-Blowers: The Importance and Limitations of Art and Media in Addressing Human Trafficking."

The article zeroes in on a few writers who model important tact...

What's your webspace headspace like?

Hey Gollum, put down your smartphone!

Is this how our generation will be remembered?  Unable to part with our precious devices? Clutching so tightly to our smartphones, eyes scrolling news and Instagram feeds, we don't even look up?

At the stars, at the leaves ablaze with fire in their annual transition from summer, at the city bus coming full speed toward us as we blindly cross the street?

Forget dying of wonder.  Too many of us will die from boredom or despair, enraged at that thing Presi...

Creating an oasis online, one "are" at a time

I should probably start with a confession: I spend a lot of time online.

Not much of a shocker, though, is it?  My guess is you do too.

Much of it is for my work life (I manage social media accounts, design and manage websites and when I research for writing I do much of it online as well).

But I shop online, stay connected with family and friends online, and watch and read most of my news online.  Thank you Amazon, Facebook + Google, and Youtube, respectively.

Did you know that the average...

Revisit your anchors - Strategies for achieving creative goals amidst your busy life

This is the fourth blog in a 4-part series on Strategies for Creatives amidst a busy life

Anchors are those heavy, metallic things, connected to chains and fastened to the deck of a boat that, when thrown overboard sink to the ocean floor, immovable, so that said ship does not float away, no matter how rough the seas.

Here I’m using the term as a metaphor. Creativity, in some form, floats your boat.  What keeps you fixed in your determination?  What holds your resolve in place?

I love G.K. Chest...

Delft Blue named a Finalist at LA Screenwriting Competition

I got the good news yesterday that Delft Blue, my new script set in Holland during the Nazi occupation of World War II was named a Finalist in the Pitch Now Screenwriter Competition in Los Angeles.

Time to get to the rewrites:

This is so exciting! (And let's be honest, it motivates me to #write and finalize a production-ready draft).⠀ ⠀ This means I might just have to cut about 40 pages
