God Is My… (Psalms), 2

~ God Is My King ~
Introduction  ~  Previously from July 16, 2017 through January 6, 2019 ALN posted a series of 60 posts of “Jesus is…,” and now we look exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms.  While not a complete list these posts occur are in the same order they are in the Psalms.
Passage  ~  “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.  Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray.  My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up” (Psalm 5:1-3).
Significance  ~  Many do not recognize Jesus Christ for who He is.  Christians realize He is the King of Kings.
“He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power.  Amen” (1 Timothy 6:15b-16).
“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).
“And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.  He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:15b-16).
Comment  ~  One day you will recognize that He truly is the King of all kings.  Why not recognize that reality today and put Him on the throne of your life?

Myth, 35

~ Christians Have No Problems ~
False Teachers  ~  There are many evangelists and false teachers in our day proclaiming what has been termed the “health and wealth gospel.”  This is contrary to the Word of God.
Scripture  ~  The Christian will have the same kind of problems as the non-believer:  Jesus Christ said, “Your Father in heaven makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45b).
In fact, the Bible declares that the Christian who is living according to God’s direction will often have extra, additional problems.  Jesus Christ said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).  And again, He said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love its own.  Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’  If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.  If they kept My word, they will keep yours also” (John 15:18-20).

Understand This

~ Look Again At What You Know! ~
FOR GOD, the Lord of earth and heaven, SO LOVED, and longed to see forgiven, THE WORLD, in sin and pleasure mad, THAT HE GAVE, the greatest gift He had –  HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON – to take our place, THAT WHOSOEVER, oh, what grace! BELIEVETH, placing simple trust IN HIM, the Righteous and the Just, SHOULD NOT PERISH, lost in sin, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, in Him.   ~ unknown source

Psalm 119, 9of27

~ Read God’s Word To Gain Victory Over Sin ~
119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,That I might not sin against You.
119:101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,That I may keep Your word. 119:102 I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. 119:103 How sweet are Your words to my taste,Sweeter than honey to my mouth! 119:104 Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.
119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feetAnd a light to my path. 119:106 I have sworn and confirmedThat I will keep Your righteous judgments.
Comment  ~  It is a reality: the more we read the Bible the more victory we will have over sin in our lives.  Spiritual victory comes from knowing and using spiritual resources.

The Law: Questions, 9of25

~ Did God Promise To Make A New Different Covenant? ~
Scripture  ~  “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.  But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord.  For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more” (Jeremiah 31:31-34).
“But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He [Jesus Christ] is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.  Because finding fault with them, He says: ‘Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,” for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’  In that He says, ‘A new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete.  Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away” (Hebrews 8:6-13).
Comments  ~  Jesus summed up the Law this way:  “Jesus said to him, ‘“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets’” (Matthew 22:37-40).
“So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.  If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.  Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer.  You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, “Where I am going, you cannot come,” so now I say to you.  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:31-35).

Psalm 119, 8of27

~ Read God’s Word For Blessing ~
119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way,Who walk in the law of the Lord! 119:2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
Comment  ~  The more we read God’s Word the more God will bless our lives.  There are many examples throughout the pages of Scripture such as, Ezra, David, Joseph, and Job.  They were all blessed in spite of their circumstances.

Question – Jesus, 28

~  Regarding Destination ~
Introduction ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.
Scripture  ~  “Simon Peter said to Him, ‘Lord, where are You going?’  Jesus answered him, ‘Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.’  Peter said to Him, ‘Lord, why can I not follow You now?  I will lay down my life for Your sake.’  Jesus answered him, ‘Will you lay down your life for My sake?  Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times’” (John 13:36-38).

God Is My… (Psalms), 1

~ God Is My Shield ~
Introduction  ~  Previously from July 16, 2017 through January 6, 2019 ALN posted a series of 60 posts of “Jesus is…,” and now we look exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms.  While not a complete list these posts occur are in the same order they are in the Psalms.
Passage  ~  “Lord, how they have increased who trouble me!  Many are they who rise up against me.  Many are they who say of me, ‘There is no help for him in God.’  Selah.  But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.  I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill” (Psalm 3:1-4).
Significance  ~  God is our protector!
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
“‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20).
Comment  ~  God has provided everything that His people need.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:10-28).

Myth, 34

~ Christians Should Avoid Earthly Pleasure ~
Reality  ~  The experience and testimony of Christians, especially those who continually seek to obey God, is that their life has never been happier or more fulfilling.  Momentary pleasures are replaced with deep-seated joy, satisfaction, and ultimate pleasure.  The earthly pleasures which a Christian experiences far surpass any pleasures they enjoyed before walking in God’s path.  God created our world as a place of enjoyment—but at the same time we realize that this is not our final home “we’re just a passing through” as the old hymn states.
Scripture  ~  King David declared: “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!  Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.  They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.  For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light” (Psalm 36:7-9).  In another Psalm he said, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
Note  ~  This is not to imply that Christians will not have trouble in this world.  In fact, if they are living according to God’s desires and standards they will likely face more problems rather than less.  But deep down will be a supernatural joy.  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).
Destination  ~  Our future home in heaven will surpass all pleasure, enjoyment, and happiness that one can imagine.
