Peace, 2of4

 ~ Continuing Peace With God ~

God of Peace (by obedience)  ~  “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.  The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8-9).

Great Peace (by loving the Word)  ~  “I love Your law.  Seven times a day I praise You, because of Your righteous judgments.  Great peace have those who love Your law,and nothing causes them to stumble” (Psalm 119:163b-165).

Perfect Peace (through trust)  ~  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.  Trust in the Lord forever,for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).

Bible Mystery, 6of17

 ~ The Mystery of God’s Will ~

Introduction  ~  Do you love a good mystery?  If so, then you should love reading the Bible. The Scriptures are full of good mysteries!  An important factor to keep in mind when exploring Biblical mysteries is that the word mystery in Scripture has a root meaning of previously withheld.  Biblical mysteries were previously unexplained—but now are revealed to God’s immediate family.

Scripture ~  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth — in Him.  In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:7-12).

Comment  ~  There are depths of God that no human being will ever understand while on earth.  There is coming the “fullness of the times” when our Lord Jesus Christ will rule over all things in both heaven and earth.  It is not a question of whether you will bow to Christ but rather a question of when you bow to Christ.  Will you choose to bow now and accept His provision for your sin or will you later bow when He pronounces eternal judgement upon you?  But there is a time when all will bow the knee to our Savior.

The Bottom Line  ~  Will you study the Word of God and apply it to your life?  Or will you waste your time on earth and the many opportunities which God gives to you.  The mysteries of Scripture are revealed to the children of God who seek to please Him.  As you comprehend the mysteries contained in the Word of God you will possess understanding and wisdom with regard to current world events.  Time is short, if you are not already on God’s side, I urge you to climb on board before it is forever too late.

Resource  ~  For a clear and concise explanation of God’s will for everyone, for Christians, and for you personally consider the inexpensive eBook “GOD’S DESIRE: How To Please God.”  (https://books2read.com/GodsDesire).

God’s Gifts, 11of15

 ~ The Gift of Righteousness  ~

God’s Gifts Series  ~  God has given mankind many gifts.  In this series we will look at just a few of them.  There are so many aspects of God’s gifts which we regularly receive and give little or no thought to—such as the air we breathe and the light which enables us to see (and the capability to do both).

Scripture  ~  “But the free gift is not like the offense.  For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.  And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned.  For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.  For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:15-17).

Closing Comment  ~  “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15).  In one sense God’s “gift” is singular but His gifts are many with many facets (read 9:8-15).

Question – Jesus, 61

 ~ Regarding Kindred ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “While He [Jesus] was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.  Then one said to Him, ‘Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.’  But He answered and said to the one who told Him, ‘Who is My mother and who are My brothers?’  And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers!  For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother’” (Matthew 12:46-50).

Comment  ~  One of the most profound realities of the Christian life is that we are now children of God.  We have been adopted into the very family of God.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:14-17).

God Is My… (Psalms), 32

 ~ God Is My Restorer ~

Introduction  ~  Previously from July 16, 2017 through January 6, 2019 ALN posted a series of 60 posts of “Jesus is…,” and now we look exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms.  While not a complete list these posts occur are in the same order they are in the Psalms.

Passage  ~  “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:1-3).

Significance  ~  Periodically we all get beat down by the realities of life.  When that occurs where do you turn for restoration.  The Christian has learned to run toward the Cross!

Myth, 67

 ~ The Bible Teaches Man’s Superiority Over Women ~

Kernel of Error  ~  Unfortunately some have misinterpreted the Word of God in such a way as to teach fundamental errors regarding the relationship between males and females in the church, the marriage, and elsewhere.  But errors in interpretation does not take away from the truth which the Holy Bible provides.

Key Concept  ~  Many in our modern society have bought into the subtle error that equality equals sameness.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Any parent of two or more children knows that each child is different but of equal value.

The Trinity Example  ~  God the Father, Jesus Christ the only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit of God are co-equal members of the Godhead.  But each has their own personality, roles, and responsibility.  When Christ came to earth he made this clear, “And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.’  Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.  And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly.  Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground” (Luke 22:41-44).

The Trinity In Marriage  ~  A Christian marriage is a triune partnership between Husband – God – Wife.  According to God’s plan for marriage the husband is seek to understand his wife’s needs and to treat her as a fellow heir (1 Peter 3:7) and to love her as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:25) – a tall order indeed!

The Biblical view of the wife is to submit to her husband (Christ submitted to the Father in the passage previously cited).  Certainly, the more the husband follows the Biblical pattern the easier this is for the wife.

There is no Scripture that indicates a lack of equality between male and female, just different roles and responsibilities similar to how each equal member of the Trinity has different roles.

The oil that makes a marriage work smoothly is a triune relationship between husband and God, wife and God, resulting in a good relationship between husband and wife!

Comment  ~  Both male and female were created in the image of God.  They are intended to be complementary to each other.  An excellent passage to study about the home relationships is Ephesians 5:15-6:4.

Fear God, 192

 ~ Moses Feared God ~

God does not want His children living in fear.  “Grace and peace be multiplied to youin the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:2-3).  However, God does want His children to have a proper respect and reverence for Him.  We are told in many places in Scripture to “fear God.”

This Week’s Passage  ~  “For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore.  (For they could not endure what was commanded: ‘And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow.’  And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, ‘I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.’)” (Hebrews 12:18-21, see also Exodus 3:6).

Fearing God Results in Salvation  ~  “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31).  “A wise person fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident” (Proverbs 14:16).  This does not mean the Christian is to live a fearful life—but a life which reverences God and seeks to do His will.

Fearing God Results in Fearlessness  ~  “The Lordis my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lordis the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).  The answer is: only God.  With the gift of salvation comes responsibility.

Fearing God Results in Witnessing  ~  “Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16).

Bible Answer, 77

~ Did You Get It Right? ~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~ bible answer ~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
question:  Which Biblical character borrowed dishes from her neighbors?
answer:  An acquaintance of Elisha
“A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, ‘Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord.  And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.’   So Elisha said to her, ‘What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?’  And she said, ‘Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.’  Then he said, ‘Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors — empty vessels; do not gather just a few.  And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.’  So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out.  Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, ‘Bring me another vessel.’  And he said to her, ‘There is not another vessel.’  So the oil ceased.  Then she came and told the man of God.  And he said, ‘Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest’” (2 Kings 4:1-7).
Bible Mystery, 5of17
~ The Mystery that Not All Will Die ~
Introduction  ~  Do you love a good mystery?  If so, then you should love reading the Bible. The Scriptures are full of good mysteries!  An important factor to keep in mind when exploring Biblical mysteries is that the word mystery in Scripture has a root meaning of previously withheld.  Biblical mysteries were previously unexplained—but now are revealed to God’s immediate family.
Scripture  ~  “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.  Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.  O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?’” (1 Corinthians 15:50-55).
Comment  ~  This is the mystery of the past resurrection of Christ and the future resurrection of all His saints to be with Him forever in eternity.  Because He rose we will also rise.  Our corruptible human flesh will be changed into eternal beings. Again, this is something not revealed in the Old Testament but has been revealed in the New Testament.  The trumpet will be, I believe. the voice of our Savior calling us to our eternal home (see Revelation 1:10-13).
The Bottom Line  ~  Will you study the Word of God and apply it to your life?  Or will you waste your time on earth and the many opportunities which God gives to you.  The mysteries of Scripture are revealed to the children of God who seek to please Him.  As you comprehend the mysteries contained in the Word of God you will possess understanding and wisdom with regard to current world events.  Time is short, if you are not already on God’s side, I urge you to climb on board before it is forever too late.
