These can be fellow authors or business owners who serve an overlapping target audience. Be creative with your collaborations. They don’t need to fall into the typical, such as social media contests, exclusive content sharing, or even guest blogging. What experience could the two of you offer your mutual audience that you couldn’t offer individually?

An Uncommon Fairy Tale of Independence
As a little girl, my favorite fairy tale was that of Cinderella. I didn't know why, but I really identified with her. And, as my life unfolded, I had more in common with her than I would have liked. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
Many people look at the Cinderella tale and take away that she was a passive participant in her life, and needed a handsome prince to rescue her from the clutches of her evil stepmother and stepsisters.
But I like to look at the story a different way ... Cinderella's tale is not just about finding her Prince Charming, but also about her journey towards independence and self-discovery.
So, in honor of Independence Day here in the U.S., I give you a different perspective on my favorite fairy tale:
Cinderella's life was far from glamorous. She endured the cruelty of her stepmother and stepsisters, living in a house where she was constantly belittled and marginalized. Yet, beneath her humble exterior, Cinderella possessed an unwavering spirit and an indomitable will to rise above her circumstances.
Her journey to independence began with her unwavering belief in her own worth. Despite being treated as a servant, Cinderella held onto her dreams and never lost sight of her true self. She wasn't a servant ... she was of service.
Cinderella had a kind heart, a gentle soul, and an innate strength that helped her navigate the challenges thrown across her path. And that's why her independence wasn't just about breaking free from her oppressive environment; it was about finding her voice and defining her own destiny. She refused to be defined by her circumstances, and instead, she took control of her own life. With each step she took toward her goals, she revealed the incredible power of resilience and determination.
And, on that fateful bibbidi bobbidi boo night, she transformed not only her appearance but also her mindset, never losing faith in herself and the possibilities that lay ahead.
Cinderella's independence shines brightly when she attends the royal ball. Her decision to attend the event, despite the obstacles in her way, shows her determination to seize opportunities and make her own dreams come true. She radiates confidence, capturing the attention of everyone present, including the prince. She captivates him not just with her external beauty, but with her inner strength and grace.
Independence for Cinderella was not about finding a prince to rescue her from her troubles; it was about finding her own inner strength, embracing her true self, and creating a life that aligned with her dreams and values. It was about realizing that her happiness and fulfillment could be achieved through her own efforts and choices.
Cinderella's story is a timeless reminder that independence is not granted ... it is earned. It requires courage, resilience, and an unyielding spirit. Just like Cinderella, every woman has the power to break free from societal expectations, redefine her own narrative, and chart her own path.
So, let us celebrate Cinderella as more than a fairy tale princess. Let us celebrate her as a symbol of independence, empowerment, and unwavering belief in oneself. May her journey inspire us to embrace our own independence, own our strengths, and live life on our own terms.
