up my alley

Kind readers,

I am having a wonderful weekend.

The past couple of weeks, I was on vacation, and I am just now slowly starting to get back into the groove of things, as it were. I shall have a new tarot card to show you soon (it is sketched out), and The First Message will be published at the start of September.

I also recently discovered the wonder that is The Big Lebowski. I had not encountered anything so mystically appealing as this film and the laid-back, Taostic discourse around it since I came across the world of Harry Potter. I have been devouring book after book on the phenomenon (such as The Big Lebowski: An Illustrated, Annotated History of the Greatest Cult Film of All Time, The Abide Guide: Living Like Lebowski and The Dude De Ching; other interesting works on the topic are on their way to my mailbox).

It has even spawned a tongue-in-cheek yet earnest spiritual movement, which I have joined. It is right up my alley, so to say.

It has all been so incredibly inspiring to me, so uplifting, that I could not resist adding another writing project to my current roster:

I have also joined a bowling league.

I should like to help everyone

Kind readers,

this week and last, I have been by myself (with Potion) here at Casa Logos, and have been on a bit of a vacation… I shall resume work on my books and tarot deck next week! I have been writing and doodling, but mostly I have been gadding about, and relaxing… It seems I needed it.

I have been treating myself to delicious, tranquil meals, and sharing happy times with loved ones, going to favorite haunts, and visiting a couple of interesting places.

I have also finally gotten round to doing some Charlie Chaplin cosplay, and taking pictures of it! I bought a better camera, and soon after I applied the whiteface -a skill one never loses- I was snapping away.

I have loved Charlie since I was sixteen; he is one of my great inspirations.

Smile though your heart is aching

Smile even though it’s breaking

When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by

If you smile through your fear and sorrow

Smile and maybe tomorrow

You’ll see the sun come shining through for you

To quote Charlie again, “I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone.”

The picture above is my favorite. You can see many more by taking a peek at the slideshow :-)

the two first cards

Kind readers,

this morning, I uploaded the two first cards of my Logos Tarot to the website that will be printing the deck, and then ordered prints, so that I can see the actual printed cards will look like…

Here are the previews:

Goodness. This project is both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. I am very much looking forward to seeing the two cards with my own eyes! It does seem like the colors will be rich and almost as accurate as in the original art. The pieces are also larger once uploaded, so I shall have to be careful to keep the most important bits an adequate distance from the edges. I also had to modify the text in the cards.

Next up, The High Priestess card! It will be renamed as well.

In other news, it is raining here this morning, and very peaceful.

Logos Tarot

Kind readers,

I am filled with creativity this summer! I am full to the brim, and overflowing.

The First Message will be published next month. I have decided that there will be a total of five booklets in this series.

This fall, I shall be writing The Magic of Love.

At the same time, I shall be working on a new project, which will be ready in time for MISTI-Con 2015, along with A Princely Calling (which will be published in 2014) and Outlaw in the Land of Perfection.

The new project is my own tarot deck, the Logos Tarot, along with an accompanying book.

Here is the first card:

And here is the cover of the book:

This something I have wanted to do in the past, but did not feel capable of it… I now believe I can do it :-)

It is actually an immense amount of fun, too. I have acquired a light box to help me in my work, and I so love that little device!

MISTI-Con 2015 will be a joyous celebration for me, in so many ways.

books, artwork, conventions

Kind readers,

I am happy to say that Blessed: How to Be a Joyful Mystic is now available on amazon!

BUY ON AMAZON

If you have read it, and it has been of comfort to you, or has delighted you, please, do share your thoughts on amazon! I am grateful for your support and affection ♥

In other very happy news, the wonderful organizers of MISTI-Con 2013 have begun putting together MISTI-Con 2015! It will take place from May 21 to May 25 2015, again at the Margate in Laconia, New Hampshire. I have already reserved my room, and can hardly wait for the convention.

Go see their YouTube video here!

I plan to sign copies of The Magic of Love, A Princely Calling: The Mystical Secrets of Severus Snape, and Outlaw in the Land of Perfection at MISTI 15 :-)

I also finished The Prince of Lilies at last. He had been sitting on that canvas for a few years…

Now that I have finally picked up the brush again, and seen how much good it has done me to paint, I have been devoting time to this relaxing activity once more.

I have begun working on a self-portrait, entitled The Warmth of Java (for some reason, I love painting imaginary tropical scenes). The picture below was taken after I sketched the image on the canvas; I have begun coloring it.

Its size is 16X20 inches.

In addition, I have sketched another image on canvas, this one 24X38 inches. The painting will be called Unutterably Honorable. I plan to bring it with me at MISTI 15 -it will be a nice presence on my signing table…

I shall have Quietus 2016 news for you soon as well! After a small snafu (the order failed to go through), things were sorted and the bags will soon be on their way to me.

And just before I go have a nice soup and then scribble at Sérénithé, I have yet another beautiful thing to share with you.

My dear friend Amanda Grabler has written a lovely book of poetry called Echoes. It contains a collection of warm and touching poems and images; the book is like gazing through an old photo album. Through Amanda’s lyrical words, we find ourselves transported in time as we revisit our own lives and memories, our joys and sorrows… To quote one of her poems,

In the distance

In the breeze

I see your face upon the seas

Buoyant in your newfound ways.

Many of the poems are haunting, as is the artwork scattered throughout the volume, such as a chalk drawing/photography mixed media image entitled Lullaby, of a young woman staring at the sea; it is softly mesmerizing. Echoes is a tender, personal book. It clings to one’s heart like a poignant recollection.

BUY ON THEBOOKPATCH.COM

And now, off I go to enjoy the sunshine and scribble!

colorful joys

Kind readers,

the days are finally warmer here where I reside, and I have been enjoying a wonderful summer.

This week, I begin work on The Magic of Love and The First Message in earnest. It is most exciting!

I have also been picking up my paint brush again… The Prince of Lilies will be finished soon.

After this, I shall work on some self-portraits, which will be fun.

A few days ago, I went on a magical excursion in the small town of Chelsea. It is actually not very far from my home, but I had never been there before. I shall be exploring it some more this summer. It is a marvelous, whimsical, colorful place that any wizard would love…

I had lunch at Les Saisons. I can truly say that it is a place after my own heart. Peaceful, and joyful. I felt so at home there.

The warm and friendly staff are a delight, as is the location, which is so cozy, rustic and welcoming. There was an almost constant stream of people purchasing coffee -I was there fairly early in the morning- but during the quieter times, I took photographs.

Note: I plan on buying a better camera this summer! I shall take more pictures next time I go to Chelsea -which I now think of as a magical holiday destination- and there are other interesting spots I plan on visiting also.

I have added very interesting books to my library as well. Such as Embodying Osiris: The Secrets of Alchemical Transformation by Thom F. Cavalli, Ph.D., and Imagining the World into Existence: An Ancient Egyptian Manual of Consciousness by Normandi Ellis.

Yes: it is a magical summer!

summer blooms

Kind readers,

I hope you are having a beautiful summer…

I am still waiting for things to warm up over here, but it is supposed to be quite nice this week! I want to spend time relaxing in my garden… I want to read there, to plant more flowers, to sit and gaze at the sky.

I have been puttering, organizing my books, resting.

I have also come up with another writing project!

It will consist of a series of booklets, around thirty pages or so each, and there may be up to twelve of them. I shall be creating a special tarot card spread, which I shall use to communicate with my unconscious, and my Universal Self. I shall then share the messages I receive in these booklets. They will be a collaboration, as it were, between me and my Guide, an image of the One and All, Cosmic Love, the Infinite Circle. I shall ramble about mysticism, love, peace, life…

I think writing these booklets will be both intense and a lot of fun, and it will be a good way to introduce my body of work to those who might be curious about my rambles.

I shall just be doing what I usually do… Share my heart, joy and experiences.

In other news, I am very eager to check out The Singing Pebble’s new location, and its adjoining coffee shop! Mystical books and beverages: a wonderful combination :-)

MISTI-Con 2013, Quietus 2016, and writing, of course

Kind readers,

let me begin by saying that MISTI-Con 2013 was incredible. It was a privilege to attend this convention, and it was the most fun I have ever had at a Harry Potter convention. I was never more relaxed, or happier, during a convention. I am in a good place, spiritually and emotionally, at this point in my life, which no doubt had a lot to do with how joyful I was during MISTI 13, but it was also the kind of event I find particularly appealing.

I am happy to say that there will be another MISTI in 2015, and I shall definitely be returning to New Hampshire then!

Photograph by The Enthusiasts

To see more of the wonderful photos that were taken during MISTI 13, take a look here :-)

Ah yes, my lecture was filmed!

Take a look here to see it: Occlumency, The Art of Meditation.

In other news, Blessed: How to Be a Joyful Mystic will be on amazon soon… There was a small delay due to a minor problem with the cover (the title was too close to the edge). I have alas had to make Ben’s beautiful illustration a little smaller as a result, but I have received a copy of the revised version, and it still looks wonderful.

As soon as it is on amazon, I shall let you know. In the meantime, it is available in my bookstore, should you wish to acquire a copy.

I have other exciting news for you! I have decided to organize my own small convention dedicated to the introverts of the Harry Potter fandom… This event will take place in 2016, and will be called Quietus. I already have a website for it: Quietus 2016. The convention will be very intimate and communal, without too many logistics. There will be plenty of time to eat and chat, no trying to juggle many activities… It will be laid back and mystical. Please visit the website for more information! I shall be sharing all the news concerning this project over there. I shall do my very best to make it a special gathering for quiet fans.

So, in the coming years I shall be publishing more books, preparing for MISTI-Con 2015, and organizing Quietus 2016 -all good things :-) Leaky 14 is not in the cards… I shall prefer devoting myself to the projects I have just listed above.

books and buttons

Kind readers,

this week, my dear friend Rik Potter published his book The Boy Who Lived: Magical Spirituality in the Harry Potter Universe :-) He will be signing copies of it at MISTI-Con (where I shall get mine!).

You can also buy it online:

It includes my short article, “Wise as a Serpent: How Professor Snape introduced me to Neo-Paganism.”

In other beautiful news, my new Snape coat, fashioned for me by my talented friend Nezumi, has arrived… I shall be wearing it for the first time at MISTI.

Here I am, modelling it a little. Of course, I tried it on the instant I took it out of the box! And the coat fit me perfectly.

My copies of Blessed: How to Be a Joyful Mystic arrived the other day, so I am officially all set for the book signing! I shall also have copies of The Severus Snape Paradigm: Outcast, Rebel, Hero on hand.
