���Quick, tell Nicole. She will have to greet them.��� Her French turned to mumbling, which Sophia had trouble translating. She understood father, money, and home though.
Nicole sat at the writing desk and cursed when the pen scratched across her careful letters. ���Sophia! Can���t you������
���Someone is here.��� She had received tongue lashings from Nicole several times, both the verbal and literal varieties. Her hasty entrance and interruption would earn her another. Sophia didn���t worry about it, though. Louise had been urgent when she sent her.
���How do you know?��� The quiet clip-clop grew steadily louder until Nicole could hear it for herself. ���Claudette, find Louise and return here. Make sure she���s dressed like a lady.��� There were many days Louise dressed in rough clothes to help Sophia with chores that required more than one pair of hands. ���Embroider, appear as though neither of you has a care. Sophia, come with me.���
Claudette fled to the kitchen while Nicole and Sophia descended the rarely used main staircase and entered the foyer. Sophia had only gotten around to cleaning it twice. She and the sisters used the backdoor from the kitchen.
Nicole touched her hair, earrings, necklace, and smoothed her skirts. Once satisfied she was decent, she nodded to Sophia, who opened the door.
The man on the steps wasn���t well dressed and had mud on his boots and trousers. ���Pardon, may I speak with the Baron?���
Nicole stepped forward. ���I���m afraid you���ve missed him. He has gone hunting and won���t be back until the day after tomorrow.���
The man���s brow creased. ���That���s a long hunt.���
Nicole waved it off. ���He likes the harts of the highlands.���
He nodded at that. ���They are the best sport. Very well, I have a message for him.��� He produced a sealed letter and offered it to Sophia.
Surprised, it took her a moment to put out her hand. Understanding what was required, she carried the letter to Nicole.
���May I impose on you for something to eat? If I leave soon, I can make Lyon before dark, but I���m not supplied for that leg of the journey.���
���Of course. I apologize for not being able to host you. If you follow Sophia, she will see you get what you need.��� Nicole remained in the entry as Sophia led the man into the kitchen.
���I have bread baked yesterday.��� She took a breath to offer him cold chicken, but the words stalled when he took her hand.
���Is he really hunting?��� The young man sported a deep crease in his forehead.
���That is what Mademoiselle said.���
His eyes narrowed and he released her. ���Tell them they are very welcome, chaperone or no.���

"As soon as I got offered the chance to review this book, I jumped at it. True it���s not my usual reading material but I was intrigued by the premise of this book, it caught my attention. I do like how very easy to read this is, I have read history compilations before that I found very difficult to connect with and hard to follow, due to the amount of scholarly wording. But this is beautifully written so that everyone can enjoy it. You don���t have to be a scholar or someone with a hundred A level���s in history to be able to enjoy it, I can guarantee that if you enjoy learning about less known aspects of history then this is the book. I am so pleased that I got the chance to read it, it is way beyond my expectations.
This is a fascinating compilation of stories written by seven incredible female writers who know their craft well, they come together to tell seven stories of how sexuality and the varied custom���s over eras has influenced British History. With a look at all aspects of sexual history including tales of Lady Godiva, Medieval love traditions, shocking tales from the Tudor court and prostitution during the Victorian era.
Each section is carefully crafted and cleverly written, it enriches the mind and this whole book is hugely satisfying, knowledgeable and highly addictive to read. Each chapter is a different story and written by a different author, and as such it keeps the reader engrossed and you are compelled to keep turning the pages to see what comes next and see what new little titbit from history you will garner. Each tale is fascinating to read, they are thorough and wonderfully researched that keeps the whole thing very real and adds to the enjoyment that you get from the overall book.
There isn���t anything I don���t like about it, it has something from every aspect of history. It is a wonderful read that captivates you and keeps you turning the page.

Everyone was impatient to get to where they were going, and I was one of the unfortunate people stopping them with my silly sign.
And then there was the guy maneuvering the huge excavator who I imagined to be Satan himself. When the guy drove through the first time, his eyes bugged out of his head when he spotted me, and then he whistled and winked. I guess he thought I would be flattered by his obnoxious behavior. After the twentieth time, I flipped him the bird. The look on his face was priceless, shock, and then he laughed.
He yelled, ���I love a gal with spunk.���

That���s my plan for the future, working for you will make it possible. I���ve completed three novels to date, with my fourth releasing in a few months. My plan is after five years at this salary. I���ll be able to live off what I���ve saved while I write full time.���
I am intrigued by her honesty. ���What have you written?���
���Historical fiction, set in Renaissance Italy.���
Interesting, I wonder if I have read her before. I enjoy reading for relaxation although I do not read as often as I would like. ���I can understand someone wanting to work with me if they were looking to start their own company, or work for themselves. You write about Renaissance Italy what do you hope to learn working for me?���
���My main characters are various members of the Medici family. The Prince was written then, and it���s still as relevant now as it was then.���
The tart reply earns her a smile, I have no control over. Her blue eyes glow in return. ���You believe I would make a good character study?���
Her head tilts ever so slightly, ���I believe I���ll never find anyone better to observe. I���ve never been able to pin down Cosimo���s ambitious plans where he was always several steps ahead of everyone else. I���d like to see it in action.���
���I do believe there is a whole chapter on avoiding flatterers.���
���There���s flattery, and there���s the fact. You���re the one who must recognize one from the other. Because of course, you���ve read The Prince. Did you highlight it as well?��� She responds with a quirk of those soft, plump lips.

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.
I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn't long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn't sleep without the light on until I was about ten.
I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.
I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I've gotten better and now I'm writing the happily ever after I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.

The Darziods Stone is a fast-paced, thrilling adventure, set in the present, involving an ancient treasure, a cursed village, a malevolent secret organization and a group of ordinary teenagers who find themselves caught up in it all. The action starts in Cornwall at the cursed village, where the teenagers are on holiday. They learn more about the supposed curse, whilst encountering some mysterious pictures on walls, dark flashes of something at the corner of their eyes and strangely unnerving seagulls.
What starts as a mystery quickly turns into an action story as they discover clues to the whereabouts of treasure and a magical stone, also meeting two different factions who are after the stone. The quality of writing is excellent - there were a few minor typos, but nothing that got in the way of fluent reading. The inventiveness of the story is really enjoyable: as it progresses, it weaves in history, supernatural elements and even some science fiction. The characterization is good, though I did think there were slightly too many peripheral ones - I lost sight of who one or two were. All in all, a great adventure story: I would think it would be enjoyed by teenagers and anyone else who loves a good mystery.

Richard Smith���s motto is: Never give up; it can happen. And his first book, Time Trap, is proof of that.
Born in London, the youngest of three children, Richard has loved writing stories since he was nine; and regularly got top marks for his essays at school ��� where his favorite subject was English. After leaving school, he worked in a succession of dead-end jobs. None brought him as much satisfaction as writing - which he kept up, with his mother���s constant encouragement. Richard credits her father, a taxi driver, who enjoyed writing as a hobby, for his talent with words.
Researching and writing Time Trap took many years of hard work ��� which Richard describes as a labor of love. One of his proudest moments came when he returned to his junior school to read extracts of the story to 9-year-old pupils, who loved it. He polished up the MS, self-published in 2012, and created the Time Trap Trail for young readers to follow and convinced both the British Museum and the Museum of Childhood to stock the book.
And now. I'm pleased to reveal my new book cover for the 2nd edition, The Darziods' Stone, which took seven years to complete, including a couple of years of inactivity, when I struggled with the plot. It's aimed at a teenage readership but will be enjoyed by readers of all ages. This new edition is twice the length of Time Trap, and I'm hoping I get as many favorable reviews as it.

Lots Of Chocolates For Me To Eat - Author Young's European Travels
The festive season was in full swing when Walter and I came out of the Rijksmuseum passageway. Gigantic ten feet high alphabets of the word AMSTERDAM stood sculpted before us and beckoned us to explore the outdoor skating ring enclosed behind. Winter revelers wrapped in cozy mittens, ear muffs and toasty scarves twirled and pirouetted like ballet dancers around the ice rink; while others did their utmost to stay erect, and not to appear embarrassed by their lack of gliding skills.
Fascinated by this winter wonderland, I exhorted my hubby forward to saunter the array of twinkling stalls that lined the stockade���s peripheries. Little did I realize we had infiltrated a delectable Feestelijkemarkt (Festival Market) where chocolaatjes, snoeps (Dutch for chocolates and candies), and a variety of festive goodies were on sale.
The event���s jubilant atmosphere, the exquisite taste of handcrafted chocolates and the artistic craftsmanship of the delicacies on offer enticed the visitor to ogle and to savor. Like most public festivals, this fair had street performers, musicians, and parades to dazzle any livid roisterers. Tents and enclosed booths proffered chocolate massages, facials, body rubs, manicures, and pedicures; while chocolate sculptures, chocolate body painting, chocolate cooking and eating contests vie for attention at this expo.
When my beloved and I arrived at a life-sized chocolate gingerbread house covered with berries, raisins, and other delicious goodies, I was bewitched. Never had I witnessed anything with such an appetizing savior faire as I stood to admire this large chocolate gingerbread creation. Through the doorway of this scrumptious cottage appeared a man dressed from head to toe in white. His hair, face, and hands were partially covered with a layer of flour, and he resembled a life snowman without the button eyes, carrot nose, scarf, and hat. He carried a broom, which he used to sweep the interior of this fascinating concoction. Tobias, the creative baker responsible for fabricating this edible structure greeted us when we strolled by his stall.

As we ventured further into this festal labyrinth, I caught sight of a fur booth. Cornucopias of scrumptious fashion items lined the shelves of the stall���s tiny space. I gravitated towards the fur wraps, hats, gloves, and shawls. One stole caught my eye. Although this long scarf was of faux pelage, the textural color combination was nothing short of prepossessing. I was already infatuated with its elegance before my husband urged me to try it on. Since I know the fashion industry inside out and am aware of the production cost of this caliber, I was trounced by the price tag. I was hesitant to pay the cost no matter how much I adored the stole.
God bless my beloved, hubby, who exhorted, ���Darling, you do look stunning in it. If you truly love this ��charpe (scarf in French) consider it my anniversary gift to you.���
���But our 21st anniversary isn���t until Valentine���s day 2018,��� I countered startlingly.
To which my beloved replied entrancingly, ���Sweetie, you are my Valentine every day of the year.���
���I���m glad my fairy spell worked on you,��� I quipped with merriment before we departed the stall with the captivating scarf to warm my freezing neck.
