30 Days of Thankfulness Post and Giveaway!

I’m sharing author Edwina Kiernan’s post from Day 4. She’s a fellow author at Celebrate Lit Publishing who has written Regency era books. I have a deep love for Regency Romance books, but can’t imagine how to write one myself!

Day 4 with Edwina’s article and Giveaway Entry at the bottom.

Edwina Kiernan is the Christian author of six novels, four of which are award-winning.

An enthusiast of classic novels and history, Edwina combines her faith, imagination and research in hope-infused tales set in times past.

A lifelong word admirer, with Welsh and Irish heritage, she started writing stories early in childhood.

She is a committed follower of Jesus (the Living Word), and endeavors to use her pen to point others to Him.

When she’s not writing, Edwina loves spending time with her dashing husband and lively little son, reading and studying the Bible, getting lost in a captivating novel and drinking more types of tea than most people realize even exist.

The following Edwina Kiernan books are published by Celebrate Lit Publishing:

A Vanishing Act

Today Is Day 8: My Thankfulness Post

As I typed out my thoughts on thankfulness for the article, the subject flowing from my fingers was unexpected. It wasn’t what I wanted to write, oh dear. But there it was, so I continued with prayer.

Click here or on the title below for the entire article and be sure to enter the 30 Days of Thankfulness Giveaway by my publisher, Celebrate Lit Publishing!

Grand prize is $100 Amazon gift card, and the other 30 prizes are a book of your choice from the Celebrate Lit authors.

Blessings Most Shunned by E. V. Sparrow

It’s easy for me to be thankful for the fantastic things God blesses me with or what He does for me. My hubby and I pray before turning in every night by reviewing our day. I am thankful for this practice and for having a hubby who enjoys praying. We begin by thanking God for all the good things that happened and for how He blessed us.

What about thanking God for the things we didn’t enjoy? Or the things we didn’t want to happen? Should we add those to our lists? How or why could we be thankful for those?

Our world spins within a chaotic wind. An overview of our world’s history tells us of other chaotic times. Yet, turmoil doesn’t affect our good Father. He remains steadfast in His love and blessings for each believer as He monitors events in our lives and listens to our prayers.

We can thank our good Father God for His faithfulness to us in the difficulties we face.

God blesses us with His grace, mercy, and love in all circumstances.

His perpetual sovereignty covers us and screens the trials He allows.

Our good Father invites us to draw near to His throne of grace when troubles afflict us. I am most thankful for this generous and accessible gift of God’s presence. Is there any other relationship more incredible and one-sided than the astonishing love of God through the Savior of us all, the Lord Jesus Christ?

Embrace Thankfulness

My publisher, Celebrate Lit is running a 30 Days Of Thankfulness series on their blog! They asked each of their authors to write a post on why we are thankful. My guest post will be on their blog on 11/8/23.

I wanted to write something humorous. What came out was the opposite. Really? I can’t force amusement, and it bugs me. What my brain focused on was the list of what we don’t want to be thankful for. Why would I want to write that? There’s no fun in it. Maybe it was about seeing blessings in a fresh way to cultivate more thankfulness and contentment. I’ll go with that idea.

Here’s the landing page link to view each day’s posts.

*They will also be giving away several prizes – A $100 Amazon gift card and 30 of their eBooks (30 winners will get to pick their choice of one of the eBooks from their catalog)! You can enter each and every day through each post. The giveaway will be open through December 3.

I am thankful for Celebrate Lit’s generosity to their authors and readers. May God bless them with His favor in everything they do.

Book Review: The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip

Haunting and inspiring.
I gave it 5 stars for the subject matter. It’s a 4 star for the writing. Almost every page has writing that breaks the rules: -ly endings or adverbs, words like “watch, see, felt, look,” many of the words editors train us not to use in our writing.
It took me several chapters to not allow the style to bother me. BUT, the storyline is definitely worth the read. I read it in 3 days, and the story stayed with me for several more.
Mrs. Kip reminds me of my mama. I relived my caregiving days as I read about Mrs. Kip’s decline, her strong precious faith in God, her physical struggles, and the fantastic way nurses and other caregivers treated her and other fragile and vulnerable patients within their reach. This book will cause you to do some introspection, and possibly inspire changes in how you view daily life.

Chapter 9, From Muldoon’s Minnesota Darling

This graphic is updated with my new cover!

Mick Muldoon has vast personal experience dealing with deaths of loved ones, and suspects it’s all because of a wicked creature only he can see. He has named it Mister Death. Mick left Ireland to protect his emigrant younger sisters, and his other reason was to escape from Mister Death.

Spying the cruel creature unnerves Mick, and raises his doubts about God’s power in his life. The battle for his faith resurrects itself.

Thoughts About My Dad

Nope, it’s not Father’s Day. Today was my dad’s birthday. He’s been in Heaven for two decades, but I still imagine his smile, chuckle, dirty tee after working, and his brilliant mind. I wrote this about him:

My dad was the best! I miss him. I wish I could ask him so many more questions because he always answered every one.

This photo represents a “yours, mine, and ours” family in the 1960s—MY family. For decades, I considered it nearly perfect, for I was the well-loved baby. My parents were also perfect at loving and disciplining me.

Decades later, the imperfect and destructive choices of behavior from my parent’s past marriages and rearing their children as single parents leaked out in stories my mom and siblings told. It stunned me. No words.

After hearing these events, I am even more grateful I was the baby. My parents had learned from their mistakes and did NOTHING that harmed me. The bombs and landmines exploded in my parent’s twenties, but by golly, it was a time of peace in their thirties.

Thanks, Dad, for accepting me for the “puddle jumper” I was, and for putting me as the center of your eye. Plus, for your tireless patience with all of my questions, even though Mom said you wondered if I’d ever stop talking—you never made me feel that way. I never knew. That’s what dads and moms do. Terrific parents make their children feel they are not an interruption, too much trouble to deal with, or ignore or belittle their pain or hurts while they learn about life.

Thanks, Dad, for learning all those things and for correcting everything you could, while you were my dad.
