Lost Blog Returned
It did take returning to California to retrieve my lost travel blog, but I did not need to actually drive down to Google HQ to do so. Kate's Rambles
I simply needed to request a retrieval passcode be sent to my mobile phone and all was resolved. The problem had been that my American mobile does not function abroad for phone calls/text messages, and the email recovery option did not work. Anyone who uses Blogger should be aware of this before traveling to the far flung, (or even close flung), regions of the world.
Broadsided in Bali should be hitting the online bookstores in a few days. I will run a free Kindle download soon after that.
Stay tuned.

...just to do it
Nothing really new to report, but since is this is one of the few times that I have been able to get online in the past 5 weeks, I thought I'd take advantage of it.
To those planning on travelling to the Dominican Republic: Laptop connectivity is a very hit or miss affair. (wifi, that is)
Having said that, I believe I am the only one in the world who actually travels with a laptop. There is no problem accessing wifi with a smart phone.
But I can't write or do much of anything on a mobile phone.
My travel blog is still lost (will sort it out when I get back to CA in a week). Travel stories about life down here (when I have been able to post...not so often...) can be found: kate-mcvaugh.blogspot.com
cheers!

Kate McVaugh's Rambles
My travel site, Kate McVaugh's Rambles, mysteriously disappeared a few days ago. Until I can get down to Google headquarters, I am posting my travel stories on my author's site
Let's hope I eventually will be able to recover my blog of 11 years.

BLOGGER world Please Help!
I have no idea what happened, but my travel essay blog, katerambles.BlogSpot.com, was deleted a few days ago and I can't get it back.
I have had this blog for over 10 years and used to sign in with my Hotmail account. Stupidly, (it seems), I thought I had set it up to sign in with my other blogs on my gmail/google acct.
I got one post off on the 24th of Oct, and 24 hours later, my blog was deleted.
I keep emailing Google, and keep getting back no reply - or reply forms that lead nowhere. I have asked that they email me, since I do not have mobile ph service here in the Dominican Republic.
Does anyone have suggestion? Although I'm sure my blog is not of importance to anyone else, it is my life. I'm serious.
thanks you for any suggestions.

Broadsided in Bali needs a cover
Broadsided in Bali - my latest book - will launch in December, and I need a smashing cover!
(and a special thanks to Francene Carroll for the title)
The Island of Bali – it’s everything Raquel and Magdalen could ever dream of in a holiday destination. What could be better than the quaint town of Ubud with its beautiful weather, exquisite artwork, and local charm? Necessities like cutting back on makeup – which tends to melt in the tropics, and ditching heels for trekking sandals, are all part of the journey. After all, having nearly reached retirement age the women can adapt to almost any situation. Foregoing black eyeliner and donning unattractive shoes are minor sacrifices. They don’t even mind that the yoga retreat they booked is strictly vegetarian. At least at the Lotus Yoga Resort & Spa, they aren’t required to participate in Sun Salutations at the crack of dawn; an hour which would be much better spent sipping coffee at a sidewalk café.
But after a full day at the resort, the owner still hasn’t appeared and no one seems to know what has happened. Money problems? Clandestine liaison gone afoul? As much as the friends would like to ignore the situation and get on with shopping and sightseeing, it soon becomes evident that more is awry than simply an absentee proprietress. Like what’s up with the other employees and their odd behavior? Could one of them have done away with the owner? And then there’s that fine-looking scientist who is definitely hiding something. Otherwise, why would he constantly be sneaking in and out of the resort and avoiding conversations?
Magdalen and Raquel set out to investigate the puzzling events at the resort and are soon aided by other concerned guests, including a couple of aging hippies. Together, they hope to find out what has become of the owner without offending the locals or breaking any laws. The last thing any of them wants is to be tagged as a rude tourist. Or worse, land in a foreign jail.
If the ladies could just get everything straightened out, they might have enough time to work on their tans as well as stock up on local artwork before heading back to Los Angeles.
If anyone out there can recommend a cover artist, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a few cover ideas....something with Balinese Architecture and sparkly flip-flops, but am open to any ideas.
Thanks!

I have a few ideas (Balinese Architecture and sparkly flip-flops). I'd appreciate any recommendations.
I have tried to post a pic of my placeholder cover, but can't seem to get it up. It appears as an alternate photo on my author's page.
Thanks!

Amimal Defenders International
Animal Defenders International
This is a wonderful organization. From there website: Having secured and helped enforce an animal circus ban in Bolivia, saving all of the animals, ADI return to Latin America to assist the authorities in Peru and Colombia. Over 100 animals have been rescued during Operation Spirit of Freedom with 33 lions heading home to Africa.
The video "A Bond of Love" shows the rescued Leo the lion, waking up after dental surgery, trying to get to his daughter Africa. (Leo's teeth had been severely damaged while in captivity.)
Watch this beautiful story here
It will make you smile and fill you with joy
(I have tried to attach a picture here.....my skills only go so far.)
