New Cover?
I am on a very limited budget. I need a new cover for Broadsided in Bali
After many hours of searching for how to produce a book cover, and even more time playing with Word, I came up with the following two covers.
Whether or not they will work when I try them with on the CreateSpace cover creator thingy, remains to be seen.
I prefer the 2nd example I made. To me, it beats my current cover hands down. That might not be saying too much.
All feedback is appreciated.

Success at the Fair
The Bay Area Book Festival was a success! I sold a few books, met some great people and fellow authors, and the weather was perfect!

Meet me in Provo Park
The Bay Area Book Festival is almost here!
Bay Area Book Festival
I will be there with my books on Sunday, June 4th, on Center Street, right across from MLK-Civic Center Park. (aka: Provo Park to those of you who remember the 60's in Berkeley, CA.)
My finest tropical ensemble is hanging up and ready to wear. However, there is a good chance I'll be wrapped up like a Sherpa about to climb Mt Everest. Forecasting the weather in Berkeley is a crap shoot at best. Most likely there will be freezing morning fog, which might clear out sometime between 10am and 2pm. How warm it will get remains to be seen.
I'm looking forward to meeting lots of people and having a great time!

Bay Area Book Festival
The Bay Area Book Festival is set for June 3 & 4 in downtown Berkeley, CA.
Only 2 weeks until the Book Festival in Berkeley, CA!
This year I will be there with my very own table and umbrella.
I attended the Festival the past two years so can attest to how fun it is to wander the closed-off streets of Berkeley. One can talk to authors - both famous and struggling - attend talks, buy food, and simply enjoy a day without traffic.
As a native Berkeley Girl I figured it was time to connect with my city in a new way.
Individual authors will only be there on Sunday, June 4th. For further details, check out their website.
I hope to see many of the other independent authors I've met in the previous festivals, and hope to meet all sorts of new folks.

Hotel Oasis - 5 sentence Mystery
Nestled on a long expanse of isolated beach, the once picturesque little town now existed only as a few dilapidated huts and the deserted, aging Hotel Oasis.
Now and again squatters took up residence in the once glorious oceanfront rooms that looked out onto palm trees, grey sand, and blue water. More often, the inhabitants ran to mice, birds, feral dogs, and the occasional monkey.
The corner room above the long-defunct bar had always had the best view and breezes. The young man, smartly dressed in new travel gear, sat propped up against the wall, his lifeless brown eyes staring out at the rising sun.

No One Told Me About the Sex-Tourism in The DR
My trip to the Dominican Republic last November had been in the planning stages for several years. It was in the Caribbean, they spoke Spanish, and there was that huge baseball connection. What could be better?
I’d been paying close attention to all those find-a-home-abroad TV shows. Folks shopping for vacation homes in Punta Cana, Terranas, and Sosúa, gushed about everything the DR had to offer. And although I knew that ex-pat vacation destinations would not be for me, my research indicated that there were plenty of beach areas that would be just as lovely.
My trip was roughly planned for two weeks in the capitol; two weeks in Boca Chica checking out baseball academies and exploring a quaint beach town; and then two more weeks further down the road in Juan Dolio for a more relaxing end to my trip.
Somehow, I managed to miss the caveat about sex-tourism in all three of those places.

In Appreciation of March Madness: free ebook
It's that time of the year again; the NCAA Basketball Tournament, better known as March Madness.
Anyone who watches the Madness has no time for pursuits such as picking up a book to read. But it will all be over in a few short weeks and then where will you be? Going through withdrawal for several more weeks.
Although Jaz, Tall Men, & Mayhem has nothing to do with college basketball, it does involve the game. It may not replace the Sweet Sixteen, The Elite Eight, The Final Four, and certainly not The Dance, but it is quite entertaining.
Jaz, Tall Men, & Mayhem is available for free ebook download on Amazon March 19 - 22.
Now, I have to get back to the 3 games I am flipping between.
