Meet me in Provo Park

The Bay Area Book Festival is almost here!
Bay Area Book Festival
I will be there with my books on Sunday, June 4th, on Center Street, right across from MLK-Civic Center Park. (aka: Provo Park to those of you who remember the 60's in Berkeley, CA.)

My finest tropical ensemble is hanging up and ready to wear. However, there is a good chance I'll be wrapped up like a Sherpa about to climb Mt Everest. Forecasting the weather in Berkeley is a crap shoot at best. Most likely there will be freezing morning fog, which might clear out sometime between 10am and 2pm. How warm it will get remains to be seen.

I'm looking forward to meeting lots of people and having a great time!

Naples, Italy, & Berkeley, CA

A Neapolitan Intrigue by Kate McVaugh

Present day Naples, Italy, and Berkeley, CA, circa 1969; what could possibly be the connection? It's a question Letty will have to answer if she is to survive her recent retirement from the CIA and Interpol.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN:

"Ex CIA agents, Russian Mobsters and shady real estate agents abound. Letty navigates the puzzle with flair and independence. Enjoy!"

"A well-crafted cozy thriller!"

"I totally enjoyed this romp through the streets of Naples."

More People's Park Photos

The historical backdrop of my new novel, A Neapolitan Intrigue, takes place in Berkeley, CA, in 1969. A Neapolitan Intrigue by Kate McVaugh

I have searched through the archives and found more photos from the events of May, 1969. One photo in particular played an important part in plot development. Any guesses? (it's not this one.)

Crazy-Town in the News Again

A Neapolitan Intrigue by Kate McVaugh
Letty left Berkeley, CA in 1970, after spending her high school years with protests, sit-ins, and peace signs.
She wasn't around for the ensuing years of nutty happenings in her hometown, although the events regularly appeared in the news.

No doubt she would find the latest Berserkely occurrence to be one of its most outstandingly crazy.

The City Council has declared that all Gendered Terms must be replaced with Non-Gendered Terms.

Here are a few:

Manhole is now Maintenance Cover.
Heirs = Beneficiaries
Pregnant Woman = Pregnant Employee
Sorority, Fraternity = Colligate Greek System Residence

Pronouns are not allowed. He, She, Him, Her, Himself, Herself, are strictly verboten.

The entire list (which is hilarious) can be found here.

1969 - What a Year!

Fall is almost here, but there's still time to roam around Naples, Italy, and flashback to 1969. What could they possibly have in common? A Neapolitan Intrigue by Kate McVaugh
