Cranberry Blog Tour Schedule

Cranberry Bluff

Cranberry Bluff by Deborah Garner

Molly Elliott's quiet life in Tallahassee, Florida, is disrupted when routine errands land her in the wrong place at the wrong time: the middle of a bank robbery. Accused and cleared of the crime, she flees both media attention and mysterious, threatening notes, to move across the country to Cranberry Cove, where she has inherited her Aunt Maggie's bed and breakfast on the Northern California coast. Her new beginning is peaceful - that is, until five guests show up at the inn for a weekend, each with a hidden agenda.

Mix together one blushing honeymoon couple, one flamboyant boutique owner, a deadpan traveling salesman, and a charmingly handsome novelist, and there’s more than scones cooking at Cranberry Cottage Bed and Breakfast. As true motives become apparent, will Molly's past come back to haunt her or will she finally be able to leave it behind?

~Rae's Review~The Christy series has to be my fave new book series! As a suspense fan, it's tough to find a rather clean but tense book with a side of grit that keeps all the things I love about a suspenseful read. Ms. Hogan's Christy series has it all! If you like a side of 21 Jump Street (the awesome 80s series, not the dumbed down movie versions) with a side of old school Bond, Christy will be right up your alley. I reviewed the previous entry Adrenaline Rush here and I plan to check out the first series Watched (book 1 is now available free) to my reading list to see how Christy's adventures began with the agency.

In this entry, Christy is assigned to a high school where groups are stealing expensive cars. I liked Christy's interactions with her team this time around. She butted heads a lot with her agent parents and they didn't get very many scenes together but when they did it was mostly fighting and distrust (which was rather understandable because of her age). This time around, I thought she had more interesting scenes with her partners. I'm really enjoying her developing relationship with Jeremy and I'm rooting for them to get together. I'm glued to this series not only for the tense plots and great action but also to see how their relationship works.

Hotwire has some great plot twists and I loved being surprised at every turn. Although the story deals with high school students, Ms. Hogan doesn't hold back to show how villianous the villains are, especially the ones Christy has to get close to for the job. This is the kind of book I would have loved in my own young adult years. It's an awesome clean read that young and adult suspense fans will definitely enjoy. Can't wait for the next entry in the series!

~Excerpt~It took me a second to realize it, but Kozlov was speaking in Russian. I flipped my head to Jericho. He clenched his jaw, and a vein pulsed on his temple. He had definitely understood Kozlov’s words. Did that mean that Jericho knew Russian? Did he have a Russian heritage? Were his parents Russian? Or had he been working for Alexander for a while and had taken Russian classes in order to fit in better? That made more sense to me. Besides, it seemed obvious, now that I knew him better, that he was involved with the bratva for the status, the power of it.
The fire in his eyes told me he would find a way to make me pay. Of that, I was sure I thought Kozlov would leave now that he had laid down the law, but he didn’t. He stood there, waiting to watch Jericho succeed or fail.
I watched, despondent, as the kids we’d come to save were led away with the same hopeless acceptance they’d shown when we’d taken them out of the container in the first place. It broke my heart.
With military-like precision, Jericho ordered the rest of the guards to take up positions along the path to some container that would be our home for two weeks. I glanced at Jeremy. What was going to happen to us? Would Halluis and Ace be able to send someone? And even if they did, how would we be able to get to our would-be rescuers?

"I don't have a boyfriend. At least not anymore…We had an incident at my family's Christmas party and I have sworn off men."

"Now that's not fair, new girl! Don't let some dirt bag ruin all of our chances. A girl like you shouldn't be allowed to swear off the rest of us."

I didn’t have the nerve to ask him what he meant by ‘a girl like me’ so I ignored it. "You find me a good guy, Mike, someone honest and loyal and I will consider changing my mind."

"Done. You and I are going out on Friday."

I laughed despite his straight face. "Mighty sure of yourself. Are you positive you are the best choice as the representative for all men?"

"Trust me Aubrey, I'm a true gentleman. And this doesn't have to mean anything. I just want to show you how a girl like you deserves to be treated. Any loser who has a chance with you and ruins it should be committed."

She is an obsessive dog lover, although her affection currently has no outlet. Something that she is planning on remedying soon. Meow If It’s Murder Blog Tour Spotlight

AWD welcomes author Toni LoTempio for the Meow If It's Murder blog tour! Check out the blurb and an excerpt of the book below. Cozy mystery fans definitely want to check this one out!
Meow if its murder Blog Tour - December 8th to 16th

Meow if its murder Meow If It's Murder by T.C. LoTempioNora Charles doesn’t believe in fate, even if she is a crime reporter who shares a name with a character from The Thin Man. In fact, she’s moving back to Cruz, California, to have a quieter life. But after finding an online magazine eager for material, and a stray cat named Nick with a talent for detection, Nora’s not just reporting crimes again. She’s uncovering them...

Back in her hometown, Nora reconnects with old friends and makes some new ones, like Nick, the charming feline who seems determined to be her cat. But not everything about Cruz is friendly. Writing for a local online magazine, Nora investigates the curious death of socialite Lola Grainger. Though it was deemed an accident, Nora suspects foul play. And it seems that her cat does too.

Apparently, Nick used to belong to a P.I. who disappeared while investigating Lola Grainger’s death. The coincidence is spooky, but not as spooky as the clues Nick spells out for her with Scrabble letters—clues that lead her down an increasingly dangerous path. Whether fate put her on this case or not, solving it will take all of Nora’s wits, and maybe a few of Nick’s nine lives.

Amazon * Barnes & Noble

~Excerpt~

I turned back to the table and stopped at the sight of the cat, squatted in front of my laptop, his eyes glued to an article displayed on its screen. I frowned. I’d been certain I’d shut the computer off when I’d gone to answer the phone. I moved closer and peered over the cat’s shoulder. An article from a sister paper, the California Sun, rehashing the details of Lola’s unfortunate ‘accident’. I made a move to shut off the laptop when Nick’s paw lashed out, the tip of his nail grazing the bottom of the screen. I tried to press the power button again – and once more his paw tapped insistently at the monitor. “What do you want me to see?” I squinted at the screen. At the very bottom of the article, no bigger than a footnote, was one line: ‘The deceased’s sister was unavailable for comment, other than to say her sister’s death was a ‘travesty that bears further investigation.’
I frowned. I hadn’t realized Lola Grainger had any relatives. That in itself was interesting, and compounded with the fact it appeared she also thought there was something off about Lola’s untimely demise...I leaned over, switched off the laptop, and closed the cover, still wondering just how that article had popped up on a computer I’d have bet my last nickel had been shut off. I shook my head, determined not to obsess. Chantal would have called it Fate, and maybe it was.Sometimes you just had to believe things just…happened. For a reason.“Hm,” I said. “Two and two make four, right? Lola’s sister - whoever she is – thinks there’s something off about that ‘accident’ too. I bet my hunch is right. I smell foul play – meow if you agree.”The cat meowed without hesitation. He sat up on his haunches and cocked his head at me.“Okay, it’s settled then. Lola’s death might not have been accidental. It could have been...murder.”The cat looked up at me, ears and whiskers back, and I could swear the corners of his mouth tipped up, just a tad, in a sort of half-smile.I took that as a yes.

Toni Author Toni LoTempio

While Toni Lotempio does not commit – or solve – murders in real life, she has no trouble doing it on paper. Her lifelong love of mysteries began early on when she was introduced to her first Nancy Drew mystery at age 10 – The Secret in the Old Attic. She lists among her favorite mystery/suspense writers Erle Stanley Gardner, Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson, as well as EJ Copperman, Steve Hockensmith, Victoria Laurie, Ali Brandon, Rita Mae Brown, Miranda James and Sofie Kelly to name only a few! Toni is also passionate about her love for animals, as demonstrated with her four cats: Trixie, Princess, Maxx and, of course, ROCCO, who not only provided the inspiration for the character of Nick the cat in the Nick and Nora mystery series, but who also writes his own blog and does charity work for Nathan Fillion’s charity, Kids Need to Read! Toni’s also devoted to miniseries like The Thorn Birds, Dancing with the Stars, reruns of Murder She Wrote and Castle (of course!). She (and ROCCO, albeit he’s uncredited) pen the Nick and Nora mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime – the first volume, MEOW IF ITS MURDER, debuts Dec. 2, 2014. She, Rocco and company make their home in Clifton, New Jersey, just twenty minutes from the Big Apple – New York.

Book Review ~ Who R U Really? ~ A Highly Recommended Read

who are you Who R U Really? by Margo Kelly

Thea's overprotective parents are driving her insane. They invade her privacy, ask too many questions, and restrict her online time so severely that Thea feels she has no life at all. When she discovers a new role-playing game online, Thea breaks the rules by staying up late to play. She's living a double life: on one hand, the obedient daughter; on the other, a girl slipping deeper into darkness. In the world of the game, Thea falls under the spell of Kit, an older boy whose smarts and savvy can't defeat his loneliness and near-suicidal despair. As Kit draws soft-hearted Thea into his drama, she creates a full plate of cover stories for her parents and then even her friends.

Soon, Thea is all alone in the dark world with Kit, who worries her more and more, but also seems to be the only person who really "gets" her. Is he frightening, the way he seems sometimes, or only terribly sad? Should Thea fear Kit, or pity him? And now, Kit wants to come out of the screen and bring Thea into his real-life world. As much as she suspects that this is wrong, Thea is powerless to resist Kit's allure, and hurtles toward the same dark fate her parents feared most. Ripped from a true-life story of Internet stalking, Who R U Really? will excite you and scare you, as Thea's life spins out of control.

who are you (1) Blog Tour Schedule

~ Rae's Review~Wow! Just coming off a roller coaster read from my last book, I didn't realize I was diving into another tense read. Who R U Really is definitely a thriller with much relevance to teenagers today who grow up in the internet and gaming age. I couldn't help relating to the characters as I found myself thinking about my own teen years on the net as I identified with Thea (full name Cynthia in the book) but also wondering how I'd navigate a similar situation with my own daughter as Thea's mother does.
At times I couldn't help wanting to yell at my reader to Thea to listen to her gut and the cues that her online friend Kit was giving her. I had an inkling of what he was about when she discovered the true origins of his username and what he was saying when she wasn't around. Who R U Really is a lesson in not only safety but also recognizing warning signs when they are made apparent.
I loved that this book had so many elements where I thought I knew what was coming, but was surprised at every turn. Ms. Kelly writes the characters in a way where you can't help but be sucked into their lives and situations. I read that this book was inspired by a similar situation the author's daughter went through and, considering the final act, I can't imagine the terror of her situation. Thanks to Ms. Kelly for writing this book and for sharing the story in talks around the community.
One of the library journals said this is a book families should read together and I couldn't help thinking this as I read it. Thea goes through many events in a young person's life that can spark some great family discussion like first loves, eating disorders, dating, trust, internet gaming and friendship and even restriction of rules.
If I have a daughter, this is definitely a book I'd like to read and discuss with her. I hope this gets turned into a film one day. I can't recommend this book enough!

My Life As A 6th Grade Super Zero Book Blast & $100 Giveaway

Here's a cute MG superhero themed book for any fans of the genre or if I have any readers with kids who read MG fiction. Check it out!

life as a sixth grade super zero My Life as a 6th Grade Super Zero by Peggy Martinez

You’d think being a superhero would be cool. And you’re right. It would be cool, especially since the entire world is filled with plain old regular people. Superheroes and supervillains are kind of hard to find, but not as hard as some people like to think. So, anything would be better than being just a normal, everyday 6th grader, right? Wrong. The only thing worse than being an average kid would be being what I am, and that is a hero with a totally useless, mega wonky, super power. I’m a dud—a zero. That’s me, Theo Perkins, a 6th grade super-freaking-zero.

Praise for the Book
"This is definitely a book that I would have no problem sharing with my kids. Your superheroes have the most creative powers!" -Lindsay Galloway, Contagious Reads.

AMAZON add to goodreads FACEBOOK * WEBSITEExcerpt
My mom and dad are superheroes. Even my sister, who is in high school and has no time for her kid brother, is a superhero. Talk about a lot of pressure, right? Mom has super strength and dad has super speed. My sister, Marcy, has super hearing, which makes it really awkward if you have to go to the bathroom, if you know what I mean. And that’s where I come in. My name is Theo Perkins and I’ll be starting Juniper Springs Middle School in a few days. The trouble is, I just got my own super powers and they aren’t exactly what I had in mind. I figured, you know, with all the awesomeness floating around in my family, I was bound to get some super cool powers when the time came. Man, was I ever wrong.
I’ve heard stories about some kids getting weird, useless powers and even some kids getting powers that glitch more than they work. But I thought those were just made up to scare super kids into being good. It turns out that not only are they true, but I am one of the lucky (not!) super kids who got a mega dud for a super power. Instead of beginning my first day of middle school as a superhero, I’m beginning it as a super ZERO.

If You Believe by Mya O’Malley Book Blast + $50 Giveaway

If you believe If You Believe by Mya O'Malley

Sometimes love only comes once in a lifetime. For some lucky people, it is possible to love again.
Melody and Jack had shared an unforgettable love story that abruptly came to an end. Melody, left picking up the pieces, finds herself alone years later, with no hope or desire to date again. With the holiday season approaching, Melody finds it particularly difficult to get Jack out of her thoughts.
Jack isn’t sure if he’s an angel or a ghost, but his mind is set on one thing only, finding a new love for Melody by Christmas Eve at midnight. Easier said than done, with many obstacles to tackle, Jack underestimates how difficult the task is. With conflicting emotions, Jack takes it upon himself to find a man for a woman he still loves.
With the clock ticking as the holidays approach, this charming story of finding love the second time around will have you laughing and crying, but ultimately, it will have you believing in true love.
