Welcome to October! Bring on the pumpkin!
Stock Image Courtesy of xdodoAutumn is here although I would only know it during the evening time when it gets cool around these parts. We're still battling with warm weather and I'm looking forward to grabbing some more pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin tea, well, maybe just anything pumpkin! ;-)
I can't believe how fast September flew by but here we are almost at the end of December! I'm working hard to get some new projects out for the end of the month. These past few days I had two cover reveals for my Ashen Twilight fans out there looking for more goodies. You've already seen the cover for Inheritance of Ashes (if not, check out my sidebar there for the cover). Here are two more: a special release of an old favorite and a new historical compendium filled to the brim with behind the scenes goodies and flashbacks to how the houses started!

In A January Bride by Deborah Raney, what will happen when novelist Madeleine Houser’s “pen pal” friendship with a lonely widower takes an unexpected turn?
Who can work in a house that's overrun by contractors and carpenters? Not Madeleine Houser, a successful novelist who gladly accepts the help of her octogenarian friend, Ginny, to arrange for a temporary office in the charming bed and breakfast owned by Ginny's friend, Arthur. Maddie's never met the innkeeper - but a friendship grows between them as Maddie and Arthur leave messages for each other each day. To Maddie's alternate delight and chagrin, she seems to be falling for the inn's owner - a man who's likely many years her senior - and who she's never even met.
What a sweet and charming story! Although it took a while for me to get into the story, once I got used to the style I was taken away by Maddie & Arthur's story. I liked how Ms. Raney presented their love story like an old fashioned romance in the style of an old timey historical romance. There is a misunderstanding between the two from which a friendship blossoms all the while an attraction grows when they see each other not knowing who the other is. I liked how they communicated through letters and this is where the old Jane Austen style comes in.
It's predictable, sure, but the way the story unfolds is perfect for folks looking for an easygoing, sweet and squeaky clean romance on a lazy weekend afternoon.
