Bookish Problems While Moving
Do you ever feel like the world is continuously spinning and you're reaching your hands out to grab onto anything to settle things down enough to get reoriented?
Yup!
That's my life right now!
So many things are going on right now. On the heels of the end of selling a house from across the (just a week til the sale is done! WOO HOO!), we are in the midst if another move! Most of my days these past few weeks has been checking out the ads and going to see houses, rinse and repeat. It's left little room for reading and writing has been lessened to a few hours whenever I can sneak away.
I'm thinking about all the book boxes I have to move and it reminds me of that Facebook reading meme:
Goodness yes!
Just thinking about all those boxes to move are kinda freakin' me out right about now. It's kinda strange to think back to just a few years when paper books were everything. Now I'm figuring out how many books to get on ebook so I can possibly give my paper books away.
Then I think about actually parting from my books and start getting kinda bummed. It's strange because I love my book collection and I'm looking forward to a place where I can put them on the shelves and have my library.
Sigh. Bookish problem #587...
Anyway, I'm a bit backed up on my reviews (Sorry to folks who have been waiting!) I feel like I need to hire an army to get through my book review stack so if I haven't responded to your book review inquiry or if you are waiting for me to post a review, it may be a bit until I'm settled but I'm trying my hardest to get through them!
For folks waiting on my new works, fear not because I have some goodies in store for you in the next month(s) or so.

Who knew?At my tenth lap, my lats started burning from the resistance. What better time than now to take a breather. I was nearing the pool’s edge, about to call it quits, when a vacuum-like pull dragged me back under the water. What the hell was going on? I swam with war-like effort, but with every stroke I made, I seemed to sink deeper…deeper…Did I push myself too hard? Maybe, but if I didn’t push hard now, I was going to drown.Don’t panic, Sterling, you can do this! But no matter how hard I went, I’d reach a certain point and get sucked back down. I must be losing sanity points on top of oxygen because the next thing I saw was something I couldn’t believe. Shadows of what looked like two people. I was too deep to see features, but they were fighting…on top of the water.Torpedoes of waves shot toward the pool’s surface with a violent quickness that almost pummeled me. I had to get up for air and now! The closer I swam to the top, the stronger the waves became.There’d been two gusts of waves a minute ago, but now I counted eight at a time. I was sure I’d surpassed my current record of thirty-six seconds underwater, but that wouldn’t mean much if I was dead. I mustered what strength I had left before I had to open my mouth for air, but when I reached the surface, it was entirely solid.I didn’t have much strength and soon I’d have to open my mouth. I used whatever in me I had left to break through the surface. No use—it was hard like a metal door. I wouldn’t be able to break it open, not with my bare hands.I was going to drown. I took one deep exhale. It gave me a few seconds, but my lungs cried for oxygen.
A strong force hit the water. Someone was sinking with me. It was so fast, but seemed like slow motion. I didn’t make out her face, but I reached for their hand. Contrasting skin color. My mouth opened, allowing water to flood my throat, burning into my lungs. I couldn’t fight it anymore. At least I wouldn’t die alone.

~Rae's Review~
How adorable was this story! Kathy rec'd this to me on Goodreads and after seeing her thoughts on it, I just had to get my hands on it.
Both Grace and Ashton are total spitfires and bounce off each other so easily that I could see why their talk show was really popular. I love the fact that each had their own relationship in the beginning. Most romances feature two single people who fight their attraction toward each other but after a nice dosage of my favorite channel's movies which feature their main characters in rocky relationships, I wanted more books to tackle this. Thankfully, Ms. Pratt's book did! This also features one of my fave tropes, enemies to loves, and with that trope mix plus the dichotomy of the relationships (romantic, work and then romantic again), I could see why Grace and Ashton were drawn to each other.
I love the fact that Grace was latina! I would have loved to have known what her culture was, but reading on I was able to put my own imagination into her character. At first Ashton turned me off with his obnoxiousness but as we come to find out, there is more to the surface of our hero and it really comes out later in the book when he has a serious talk with a listener concerned about her son. During that conversation, Frank and Grace weren't the only ones with their mouths open! I love that the characters jumped off the page and felt like real people.
There are some really fun and entertaining moments in this book. I loved Chapter Five because of how imaginative Ms. Pratt was in showing each of their instagrams. I can definitely tell she had fun putting it together! With the pop culture references, the social media mentions in how they worked and why they are needed, I couldn't help identifying with the characters and their world. I don't come across many romances that feature radio DJs so that was a refreshing change as well. I loved the banter not only between Grace and Ash but also between her best friend Esme. There were some really good lines I wanted to quote in my review but I had a hard time choosing just one.
This is a great introduction to Ms. Pratt's writing and I'll definitely be on the lookout to try her other works. I recommend this one!

Sheralyn's first job was as a karate instructor, which taught her that practice does not make perfect; practice makes habit--good or bad. Martial arts also taught Sheralyn that a master is simply a person who can effortlessly do all the actions a beginner finds difficult or maybe even impossible.

Having enjoyed the previous entries in the Meet Your Match series, Stick in the Mud Meets Spontaneity was like coming home to old friends and meeting new ones! I love the opposites attract theme and this series has hit all the right buttons! I love love love the beginning where we are introduced to our new heroine, Sam, as she comes home from college and we get to catch up with the couples from the first two books before jetting off to see Sam meet Colten. I love how it's Colt who's the stick in the mud with Sam being spontaneous because it's usually the big city girl who has trouble adjusting before falling for the free-spirited cowboy. Sam was more than eager to dive into everything country from line dancing to riding a horse right down to purchasing her own pair of cowboy boots and hat.
Stick in the Mud had me laughing at parts, especially when Sam and Colt verbally sparred. One part in particular I liked was when he was teaching her to ride. I could really hear the changes in tones of their voices in my head which made the story come alive.
I'm not sure if there is more in this series but if there is I'm eager to read more! Stick in the Mud is a fun, flirty light-hearted clean romance that is perfect for a summer day, especially for the readers out there who love cowboys and contemporary western themed books. You guys will definitely enjoy this one!
