This book is AMAZING. And incredibly hard to read (true accounts of children who suffered horrific abuse/neglect). It took me two years to finish the book because I kept having to stop and read happy things, but it does an amazing job of explaining psychology as it relates to actual brain development and function, based on actual scientific observation, not pseudoscientific assumptions. You can tell the author clearly cares more about helping people who need it than about getting published for coming up with the latest trendy theory.

The capacity to love cannot be built in isolation.
