The story behind the new hero, Art Marvik - Silent Running now in paperback

Silent Running an Art Marvik marine crime novel by Pauline RowsonI
like heroes so when I was searching for a new character to create in a
new series that combined adventure and mystery there was no doubt that a
hero he had to be. I also decided not to have a police officer because
that role is currently filled by the flawed and rugged detective, DI
Andy Horton, whose patch is Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, and the
surrounding harbours and towns.

I wanted a character who was not bound by the official rules
of the law, but who was nevertheless on the right side of it. The new crime series also had to have all the hallmarks of my brand – a troubled
hero, the sea, boats, interesting and diverse characters and lots of
action. So already the stage was set, enter former Royal Marine
Commando, Special Boat
Services Officer, Art
Marvik, in the first of this new series Silent Running

Leaving a book review on Amazon

Fatal Catch, a DI Andy Horton Marine Mystery by Pauline Rowson If
you have read and enjoyed my novels and can spare a little time please
leave a review on Amazon (even if you don't like them you can still
leave a review!) And even if you bought the book elsewhere but you are
an Amazon customer you can leave a review.

The number of reviews an author gets for his/her books boosts the
chances of Amazon marketing an author's novels more actively, and that
of course helps introduce your work to new readers. Perhaps others
would enjoy reading about my flawed and rugged detective, DI Andy
Horton, or my new troubled hero, former Royal Marine Commando, Art Marvik, attached to work
undercover for the UK's National Intelligence Marine Squad ( NIMS)

Genuine
feedback is always welcomed. It can be short (and preferably sweet but
that's up to the individual) one word or two will do. Huge thanks to
everyone who has already taken the time to leave a review. It is very
much appreciated.

You can review my books on Amazon UK or Amazon USA

Pauline Rowson's writing tips - persistence, patience and a keen interest in humanity

Pauline Rowson It’s often said that you should write
about what you know, but I don't agree. I’ve never committed a murder,
or been a police officer, and neither am I married to one. I’ve had no
previous experience or knowledge of the law, except what I’ve read in
crime novels, and I’ve never been to an autopsy, yet after many trials
and tribulations I finally got the job as a crime writer.  I love reading crime and mystery novels and I love writing them. It’s my
belief that you should write what you are enthusiastic about, but you
also need some additional qualities.  Here is my view on what it take to be a successful writer.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard setting for DI Andy Horton novel, Undercurrent

Undercurrent, the ninth in the DI Andy Horton marine series of police
procedurals, which is now out as an unabridged audio book,  begins with
a body found in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, late at night, lying in
the bottom of No. 1 Dock where the historic M33 Monitor is situated.

At the time of writing this novel the M33 Monitor was not open to the public but since then the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £1.75 million to the National Museum of
the Royal Navy to restore and open it to visitors for the first time in its
history.  This gallant little ship, launched in May 1915, is the
sole remaining British veteran of that year’s Gallipoli Campaign.  I decided it would be the perfect place to put a body!

A very hectic London Book Fair

Pauline Rowson outside Olympia at the London Book Fair 2016t The
London Book Fair has once again been and gone and a very busy one it
was too, certainly on the Tuesday when I attended. The aisles were
swarming with humanity as was London itself.  I always forget just how
busy London is and how packed with tourists.
