The story behind the new hero, Art Marvik - Silent Running now in paperback

I
like heroes so when I was searching for a new character to create in a
new series that combined adventure and mystery there was no doubt that a
hero he had to be. I also decided not to have a police officer because
that role is currently filled by the flawed and rugged detective, DI
Andy Horton, whose patch is Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, and the
surrounding harbours and towns.

I wanted a character who was not bound by the official rules 
of the law, but who was nevertheless on the right side of it. The new crime series also had to have all the hallmarks of my brand – a troubled 
hero, the sea, boats, interesting and diverse characters and lots of
action. So already the stage was set, enter former Royal Marine
Commando, Special Boat 
Services Officer, Art 
Marvik, in the first of this new series Silent Running
