Fun on the photoshoot on board Condor Ferry for Andy Horton, Lethal Waves
I had great fun on board the Condor Ferry, Commodore Clipper, while it was at Portsmouth International Port recently. I was there for a photo shoot to launch the new Andy Horton crime novel, Lethal Waves. The Commodore Clipper features in Lethal Waves the thirteenth in the series starring my flawed, hunky and rugged detective, Andy Horton. It was a calm and rather grey Sunday but it was brightened by meeting the lovely Captain Steve Leake and his crew, including Hotel Services Operations Manager, Mike Mustill, who allowed me, my husband, Bob, and the photographer, Nick Masson, free reign, escorted and ably assisted by the delightful Cabin Manager, Geoff. (Click on the images to enlarge them).

My top ten tips for writing deadly crime fiction
The Guardian newspaper ran an article in 2012 asking writers for their ten rules for writing, so I thought I would pen my top ten tips for
writing deadly crime fiction. Five years later looking back on it they
still hold good with one or two little tweaks and additions. Here goes.
1. Always have a pencil and paper with you, in every handbag, shopping bag, pocket, and of course beside your bed. You never know when that wonderful idea might strike. A Dictaphone might also be useful. Gone are the days when you got funny looks for talking into a machine or even talking to yourself walking down the road. Everybody’s at it now.

A look back to my time on board the police launch with Hampshire Police Marine Unit
O
nthis day last year (17 February 2016) I was privileged and delighted to
spend the morning with Hampshire Police Marine Unit researching for
Andy Horton crime novel number fourteen.
I have a great deal of admiration for the
wonderful Hampshire Police Marine Unit. They police one of the busiest stretches of water in Europe indeed
in the World. And the marine unit features in my DI Andy Horton crime novels. Fatal Catch, DI Andy Horton 12, is dedicated to Hampshire Police and the Marine Unit.

The inspiration for In Cold Daylight, turning an overheard conversation into a compelling crime novel
Ideasfor crime novels can come from many different sources, often a location
inspires me particularly with regard to the Andy Horton detective
mysteries which are set around the sea in the Portsmouth, Isle of Wight
area of the Solent. Other times a news item might create that spark or
an overheard conversation and such was the case with one of my
standalone crime novels, In Cold Daylight.

Running out of space on the new bookmarks
Witha new Andy Horton mystery published on 28 February 2017, Lethal Waves, I
needed a new bookmark. The latest bookmark showcases all my seventeen
crime novels published, with one final space left (where the writing is)
as you can see for my eighteenth crime novel to be published later in
2017, which will be the third in the series featuring undercover marine
investigator Art Marvik. Click on the image to enlarge it.
After this I will either have to stop writing ! Impossible. Or have a brand new design for my bookmarks.
