Falling in love with Inspector Andy Horton

I
have been  asked if I am just a tiny bit in love with the main
character in my series of crime novels featuring the modern day flawed
and rugged detective, DI Andy Horton.  The answer  is yes and not just a
tiny bit but a lot. Inspector Andy Horton is fit, about forty and
fearless. And to me he is gorgeous despite or maybe because of his
flaws. 

I thought it might sound odd saying that I was  in love with Andy Horton
but having read a recent survey that said a high percentage of women
are more in love with fictional characters than their partners I feel a
lot better about it.  Apparently James Bond tops the list of  the
character most women love and he too is fit and fearless and I suppose
if you think of the films rather than the books, where you can let your
imagination create your own version of Bond, it depends which Bond you
have fallen in love with. I know who my hero is but I'm not telling.

Pauline Rowson on writing routines, research and thinking time

I'm
often asked if I have a writing routine and the answer is not strictly
although I do like to write every day if I possibly can, speaking
engagements permitting. But "writing" isn't just pounding away on a
keyboard. Creating a crime novel requires more. There is, of course, the
research which can be desk research conducted via the internet, books
and newspapers, and secondary research, which involves talking to the
experts and visiting locations. There is also thinking time.

Thankfully traumatic injuries and deaths caused by crossbows are a rarity. But it was a means of murder that I have used in Inspector Andy Horton crime novel, SHROUD OF EVIL number eleven in the series of currently fourteen. Shroud of Evil has just been released as an audio book by Soundings, narrated by Gordon Griffin. It is also available in paperback, as an ebook and on Amazon Kindle and Kobo.

What's on in May 2019

I'm delighted to announce that on 1 May SHROUD OF EVIL, a DI Andy Horton crime novel will be released as an unabridged audio book narrated by Gordon Griffin MBE and published by Soundings.





Shroud of Evil is number 11 in the Inspector Andy Horton series of 14. It is already published in paperback and as an ebook, on Amazon Kindle and on Kobo.



Also in May I'll be giving a talk at Fareham Library, Hampshire and working on two crime novels, a DI Andy Horton and the second in my 1950 murder mystery series featuring Scotland Yard detective, Inspector Alun Ryga.
