Book Drawing - A Hopeful Heart

A Hopeful Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Dowryless and desperate, Tressa Neill applies to the inaugural class of Wyatt Herdsman School in Barnett, Kansas, in 1888. The school's one-of-a-kind program teaches young women from the East the skills needed to become a rancher--or the wife of one.

Shy and small for her twenty-two years, Tressa is convinced she'll never have what it takes to survive Hattie Wyatt's hands-on instruction in skills such as milking a cow, branding a calf, riding a horse, and...

Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles have long been a family-favorite at our house. This is a recipe given to me by my grandmother on my mom's side. Mattie Evans, the heroine in Snow Melts in Spring likes to bake and this is one of her recipes, too. (You will also find this recipe in the back of my first book.)

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

In medium sized bowl, mix shortening, sugar and eggs until soft. Sift together...

Country Cupboard Book Signing

This past weekend, I had my first book signing for Seeds of Summer at the Country Cupboard, a lovely gift shop (12 North Main) in Fort Scott, KS. Judy Renard, owner, took care of the publicity and made sure all of her customers were aware of the event. Her shopkeepers made me feel so welcome and special. I missed meeting Judy, as she had a family reunion in Arkansas to attend, but I plan to return one day soon!

Strawberry Lemonade and Snickerdoodle cookies were provided by Cynthia McFarland...

Book Drawing - A Matter of Character

A Matter of Character by Robin Lee Hatcher

It's 1918, and Daphne McKinley, heiress to a small fortune, has found contentment in the town of Bethlehem Springs, Idaho. But Daphne has a secret.

A series of dime novels loosely based on local lore and featuring a nefarious villain known as Rawhide Rick has enjoyed modest popularity among readers. Nobody in Bethlehem Springs knows the man behind the stories ... except Daphne.

When newspaperman Joshua Crawford comes to town searching for the man who...

My Second "Baby" Has Arrived

Last week, my second "baby" arrived by way of a large brown UPS truck. It is wonderful to hold Seeds of Summer in my hands. Yesterday I received the rest of my books to sale. So exciting!

This week, I was the Featured Author on ACFW. Read the interview for that here.
