Cherry Juice and Prayers

Many of you may know that for the last five weeks I have been suffering from severe back pain (sciatica). I am happy to announce that I am finally seeing relief (pain level at a 1 or 2 on a scale of 10). Praise God!

I can honestly say that I have never experienced such pain before in my life. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for me during this difficult time. One of my readers shared this information with me, and I'd like to pass it on to you.

Cherry Juice - 100% pure concentrate...

Little House on the Prairie

My daughters and I are huge fans of Little House on the Prairie --of the books and also the television series. I can still remember holding that first book in my hands and thinking how wonderful the pages smelled as I climbed into the wagon with Laura and her sisters in 1870.
Here in SE Kansas, we are fortunate to claim one of Laura's homes -- the original log cabin near Indepence, KS (as depicted in the series premier movie with Mr. Edwards.) It's a favorite field trip for school children of...

Yummy Baked Beans

This is an old family favorite. So good.

2 cans pork-n-beans
1/2 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons mustard
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon minced onion
4 strips of bacon-diced (I like to cook my bacon a bit before I put it in with the beans, but it's not necessary)

Combine ingredients and pour into greased baking dish. Bake 325 degrees for 2 hours.

Barn Images

Our youngest daughter has been playing with my camera again. She has quite a knack for taking pictures--much more creative about it than I. Here are a few pictures she took in our barn this past week. Enjoy!

No-Bake Chocolate Cookies

Here's another favorite recipe from my childhood. Especially nice when you don't want to heat up the house with the oven.

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 stick butter or margarine
3 Tablespoons baking cocoa

In medium saucepan, stir together sugar, milk, butter, baking cocoa and salt. Bring to boil and cook for one minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla, peanut butter and oats. Drop from teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let ...
