Scott Farley on Awkward Threesomes and the Art of Baking

Scott Farley, who brings the character Lucian to life in the web series "Settle Down," opens up about his favorite scenes, his passion for baking, and the personal experiences that influence his portrayal. Scott's candid and humorous insights offer a glimpse into his process and connection with his character.

What's your favorite scene in "Settle Down" and why?

Obviously, the scene where a tall drink of water joins a sexy couple for a threesome. It’s pumped full of passion and absolutely dripping with awkwardness. The mix of excitement and cringe-worthy moments makes it a standout scene. It's such a vivid depiction of how desire and real-life complications often collide, creating a memorable, funny, and slightly uncomfortable experience for everyone involved.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

It’s a gay "Sex and the City." This show brings the same level of humor, drama, and heart to the modern dating scene, but with a fresh and queer perspective that makes it both relatable and groundbreaking.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

I love to bake! There’s something about kneading a ball of dough that really gets those endorphins flowing. Baking is my therapy; it's a creative outlet that lets me unwind and produce something delicious. From kneading dough to perfecting recipes, the entire process is both calming and rewarding. Plus, sharing baked goods with friends and family always brings a smile to their faces.

What's your go-to ritual or habit to get into character before a scene?

Right before the director calls action, I remind myself what I want as the character and then I try to achieve that. This simple yet effective technique helps me focus on my character's motivations and objectives, ensuring that I bring a genuine and dynamic performance to each scene.

Do you recognize any aspects of your own personality or experiences in the character you portray in the web series?

Well, considering my big moment in "Settle Down" is a cringe-worthy threesome, I have to say that I’ve been in a similar position… So I simply drew upon that experience. Haha. But honestly, Lucian is just a guy who knows what he wants… and THAT I can certainly relate to. Like Lucian, I'm straightforward and confident in going after what I desire, and I think that authenticity translates well on screen.

Josette Jorge on Mentoring, Acting, and 'Settle Down'

A woman wearing a sweater vest and button down shirt sits opposite a person wearing a beanie

In this insightful interview, Josette Jorge shares her experiences playing Sandra in the web series "Settle Down." She talks about her favourite scenes, her mentoring activities outside of acting, and the rituals that help her get into character. Josette also reflects on how she relates to Sandra's struggles with communication and offers ways for fans to connect with her online.

What's your favourite scene from the "Settle Down" scripts, and why?

My favourite scene is one that I'm not in...but I love being a fly on the wall for it! It's in episode 2 during Ben's birthday dinner. There is tension coming from all sides between Mason, Jarod, Ben, and Angelo. Right before he opens the door, Mason tells Jarod, "For the next three hours, let's just be happy. Okay?" and you know that's a disaster waiting to happen.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

"Settle Down" is the perfect mix of humour, heart, and speaks to anyone who has ever searched for love.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

I mentor kids who either want to be actors themselves or want to use acting tools to help with public speaking skills at Ivy Speech Arts Academy. I actually ran into one of my students, Alina, while filming a scene for "Settle Down!" She randomly stopped to watch because she saw a film set, and we were both blown away when we saw each other! It was a really special moment for both of us.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

Our intimacy coordinator, Christina Fox, taught us a great ritual that I will be taking with me every time I do an intimate scene. It's tapping in and out by giving your scene partner eye contact and a high-five. It really grounded me before we shot our scenes.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

My character Sandra is definitely more A-type than I am, but I can relate to her struggles with communication. Talking about our feelings wasn't common practice in my household growing up, so I am constantly working on speaking up and being braver with asking for what I want.

Joshua Obra: Navigating Roles and Realities in 'Settle Down'

A woman wearing a sweater vest and button down shirt sits opposite a person wearing a beanie

In this engaging interview, Joshua Obra shares his insights into portraying Wade Gomez in the web series "Settle Down." From favourite scenes to personal rituals and reflections on his character, Joshua provides a glimpse into his creative process and personal growth. He discusses his favourite activities outside of acting, emphasizing his passion for creative collaborations and film photography. Joshua also invites fans to connect with him online through his social media handles.

What's your favourite scene from the "Settle Down" scripts, and why?

For me, any scene involving Mason and Jarod stands out. In the first episode, when Mason suspects Jarod of cheating and confronts him, I found it hilariously written. Another favorite is when Jarod and Mason work out their issues in therapy. The show's focus on Mason connecting singles while navigating his own relationship challenges adds depth and humor to his character.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

"Settle Down" is a melting pot of 30% comedy, 30% drama, 30% insight, 10% plot twist, and 100% gay.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

Outside of acting, my favourite activity is to quote The Weeknd: "all I wanna do is make that money and make dope shit." Specifically, it's about finding inspiration through creative outlets, currently collaborating on short-form video content and exploring film photography.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

Reflecting on my experiences on set, my ritual before a scene is taking a nap. It ensures I'm well-rested and focused on delivering a performance rather than worrying about my lines.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

Wade Gomez and I share a strong sense of self-awareness and authenticity. He's grounded and collected, having done the inner work to understand himself and integrate it into his artistry. I relate to this journey of self-discovery and authenticity through personal growth and learning from failures.

Behind the Scenes with Marco De Luca: From Acting to Spin

Marco De Luca takes us behind the scenes of his role as Claude in the web series "Settle Down." He delves into his favorite scenes, personal rituals, and the aspects of Claude's character that resonate with him. Marco also shares his passion for spin classes and invites fans to connect with him on Instagram.

A man in a black leather jacket sits outside on a bench with his hands folded in his lap

What's your favorite scene from "Settle Down" and why?

My favorite scene would have to be the moment Claude sends a very sweet message after basically ignoring Ben the whole date. This behavior is actually a very realistic thing in the dating scene, and I think everyone will relate to it in some way. We've all experienced those mixed signals and confusing moments where someone seems disinterested only to follow up with something heartfelt. It’s a small but powerful moment that captures the complexity and unpredictability of modern dating.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

"Settle Down" is a very queer, very funny series about finding love and how hard it is—relatable, sweet, genuine, and real.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

If you know me, you know that I am a SPIN instructor in the city! Spin truly is life, and I spend all my time on the bike. Teaching spin classes is not just a job; it's a passion. The energy, the music, and the community aspect of spin are incredibly fulfilling. It keeps me physically fit and mentally balanced, and it’s a great way to motivate and connect with people.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

It definitely depends on the project, but a huge part of character building for me is the costume. Once I feel like I look like my character and feel comfortable in their clothes, it feels right. The transformation through wardrobe helps me embody the character's personality and attitude. For Claude, wearing his outfits helped me tap into his laid-back, slightly aloof nature. It’s amazing how a piece of clothing can change your posture, your walk, and your entire demeanor.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

Although I am definitely more aware than Claude is, I probably am on my phone just as much as he is, if not more. I think Claude's constant connectivity and distraction by his phone is something many of us can relate to in this digital age. It’s a reflection of how technology can interfere with personal interactions and relationships, something I’m definitely mindful of in my own life.

Where can fans find you online if they want to connect?

Liam Melady on Music, Miscommunication, and 'Settle Down'

Liam Melady provides a fascinating look into his role as Malcolm in the web series "Settle Down." He shares his favourite scenes, personal rituals, and the aspects of Malcolm's character that resonate with him. Liam also discusses his love for music, both as a therapeutic outlet and a tool for getting into character. Additionally, he invites fans to connect with him on social media.

What's your favourite scene from "Settle Down" and why?

A man wearing a brown leather jacket stands at a microphone in a dimly lit bar

My favourite scene for Malcolm is definitely the “intro to Malcolm” scene that takes place in the café. As Mason confronts Malcolm, the miscommunication slowly escalates line by line, ultimately leaving Malcolm thinking that Mason is coming for his livelihood and Mason thinking that Malcolm is a prostitute coming for his man. Obviously, we know that’s not the case, but the way Alex wrote this scene is so inherently funny and so fun to play.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

I would describe "Settle Down" as a very accurate depiction of just how nuanced, complicated, and messy relationships, or “situationships,” can be. The demise of many relationships is often a result of poor communication, and I think "Settle Down" tackles that perfectly!

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

Outside of acting, I really love to sing and write music. It’s kind of a cliché answer, but music really is very therapeutic for me. It’s a great way to release thoughts or feelings when I don’t necessarily want to share them with a friend, family member, or therapist.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

Music! Music holds such a special place in my life. When I’m working on a character, I like to curate a playlist that reflects this character to help me navigate their thoughts and vibes.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

Definitely! I think Malcolm has a clear vision of where he wants to be in life but doesn’t necessarily know how to get there. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. Similarly, I have many personal goals that I hope to accomplish, but getting there isn’t necessarily a clear, linear path. Although this can be anxiety-inducing, the unknown element of pondering “what could be” is what fuels me.

Matt Wells: The Journey from Band Life to 'Settle Down'

Matt Wells, known for his role as Eddie in the web series "Settle Down," shares his thoughts on his favorite scenes, his passion for music, and how he connects with his character. Matt's journey from singing in a band to acting has been transformative, and he offers insights into his process and personal experiences.

A man in a black turtleneck leans forward on a bar

What's your favorite scene in "Settle Down" scripts and why?

Anything with Georgia. Such a well-written character and SO much fun. The dynamic between Mason and Georgia is electric, and their scenes are always filled with tension, humor, and unexpected twists. Georgia brings out a side of Mason that is both vulnerable and chaotic, which makes for some of the most entertaining and memorable moments in the series. Her character challenges Mason in ways that push the story forward, and I love how their interactions reveal deeper layers of both characters.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

In a time when trying to meet someone has never been more complicated, we are all still connected by the desire to love and be loved. This show captures the essence of modern dating with all its quirks, challenges, and heartfelt moments, reflecting the universal longing for connection and understanding in an increasingly complex world.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

Singing in a band, writing songs, and touring the world is how I caught the performing bug. It’s what I thought my whole life would be before acting and writing came along. I still write and play when I can. And still daydream about being back on tour. Music has always been my first love, and it’s a huge part of who I am. The thrill of performing live, the creative process of songwriting, and the camaraderie of being in a band are experiences that I cherish deeply. Even though acting has taken the forefront, music remains a vital outlet for my creativity and passion.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

Music is big for me. I like to think about what the character’s favorite song or artist might be and let that help me connect and find my way. For Eddie, I created a playlist that I felt resonated with his personality and his journey throughout the series. Music helps me tap into the emotional landscape of the character, setting the tone for how they perceive and react to the world around them. It’s a powerful tool that grounds me and helps me transition into the character’s mindset.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

Anytime I take on a new character, I try to inject a little bit of myself and my own lived experiences. Eddie is a mess, and even though he’s pretty selfish in his approach, he’s trying to find his true self. I think that search is something everyone can relate to. Eddie’s journey of self-discovery, his flaws, and his desire for authenticity are aspects that resonate with me. Like Eddie, I’ve had moments of uncertainty and growth, and bringing those personal experiences to the character helps make him more relatable and authentic.

Where can fans find you online if they want to connect?

I pop my head out on Instagram from time to time. @mattawells. I enjoy sharing snippets of my life, projects, and passions with my followers. It's a great way to stay connected with fans and give them a glimpse into my world, whether it’s about my latest acting projects, music endeavors, or just everyday moments.

Connecting with Alexander Nunez: Insights into 'Settle Down' and Beyond

A man sits with his hands folded on his crossed knees

In this engaging interview, Alexander Nunez shares his experiences playing Mason in the web series "Settle Down." From his favourite scenes to his personal gaming hobbies, Nunez offers a candid look at the joys and challenges of bringing his character to life. He also reflects on his own romantic journey and how it parallels Mason’s story. Fans eager to connect with Nunez can find him active on Instagram and TikTok, where he shares more of his life and work.

What's your favourite scene from  "Settle Down" and why is it your favourite?

My favourite scene after writing the scripts was the dinner fight in episode 2 during Ben's birthday dinner. It was fun to write and really fun to act out with Leighton, Izad, and Vasilios. But after finishing the entire shoot, I'd have to say Mason's big finale moment was the most fun! I don't want to give too much away, but I really got to let loose on that one.

If you had to describe "Settle Down" to a friend in just one sentence, what would you say?

The most hypocritical love expert on the planet is miraculously good at his job.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

I'm a closeted gamer, I think! I rarely tell people how much I love video games, but I'm COMIN' OUT.

Do you have any rituals or habits to get into character before a scene?

I'll do different things depending on the character or show, but my jaw is tight, so I always massage it and do some vocal warmups on the car ride to set. Mason is particularly tightly wound, so I tend to pace around and do a lot of finger-pointing before getting into a scene, ha ha ha.

Do you see any of yourself in the character you play on the show?

Mason's romantic mistakes remind me a lot of who I was in the early days of my relationship (now marriage). I hated being wrong! I still do, but I'm better at acknowledging my screw-ups nowadays. I'm definitely way less uptight than he is and a lot more careful with how I speak to people. Mason says some real cutting stuff that I never could in real life!

Where can fans find you online if they want to connect?

If you're looking to connect, I'm on Instagram and TikTok @alexjonunez! Come say hi!

Identity, Family, Forgiveness and Second Chances in Mulligans audiobook by Charlie David

Charlie David’s Mulligans audiobook is a captivating narrative that intertwines themes of identity, family, forgiveness, and second chances. Originally a screenplay adapted into a heartfelt film, Mulligans was later expanded into a novel and audiobook, allowing Charlie David to delve deeper into the emotional undercurrents and nuances of the story. Whether you are new to audiobooks or a seasoned listener, Mulligans is an excellent choice to kickstart your journey, offering a rich, emotive experience brought to life by David’s evocative storytelling and narration.

A sunset on left half of frame. On right, a college age man looks romantically into the eyes of a man in his forties. Title: Mulligans audiobook ready by author Charlie David

The Story: A Brief Overview of the Mulligans audiobook

The Mulligans audiobook follows the lives of two college friends, Tyler Davidson and Chase Rousseau, who spend a summer at Tyler’s family home. What begins as a seemingly idyllic summer retreat takes a turn when secrets surface and relationships are tested. Chase, who is openly gay, unintentionally becomes the catalyst for the Davidson family’s unraveling. The story explores the fallout from a romantic relationship between Chase and Tyler’s father, Nathan, forcing each character to confront their own truths, prejudices, and vulnerabilities.

Themes That Resonate

At its core, Mulligans is a story about connection and the complexities of human relationships. Charlie David uses the narrative to explore several profound themes, making it a deeply resonant work for listeners from all walks of life.

1. Sexuality and Identity

One of the central themes of Mulligans is the exploration of sexuality and the courage it takes to live authentically. Chase’s confidence in his identity as a gay man challenges those around him to question their own beliefs and assumptions. Nathan’s journey of self-discovery is particularly poignant; it sheds light on the internal struggles of someone who has lived a life constrained by societal expectations and self-denial. The story invites listeners to empathize with characters navigating the often uncharted waters of identity, desire, and self-acceptance.

2. Family Dynamics

The Davidson family represents the quintessential image of suburban perfection: a loving marriage, two children, and a picturesque home. Yet, beneath the surface, their dynamics are far from perfect. The revelation of Nathan’s affair with Chase acts as a fissure, exposing the fragility of their relationships. Tyler’s mother, Stacey, must grapple with feelings of betrayal and loss, while Tyler and his sister, Birdy, struggle to process the upheaval in their family. Through the lens of this fractured family, Mulligans examines themes of loyalty, resilience, and the complex bonds that hold families together—even in the face of profound pain.

3. Second Chances

The title Mulligans is a metaphor for the second chances life offers us, whether we take them or not. Each character is presented with an opportunity to grow, heal, and redefine their relationships. Nathan’s decision to embrace his truth, Chase’s hope for forgiveness, and Stacey’s struggle to move forward all highlight the transformative power of second chances. The story serves as a reminder that while we cannot undo the past, we can choose how we move forward, with honesty and grace.

4. Forgiveness and Healing

Forgiveness is a recurring theme throughout the story. While the characters hurt each other deeply, Mulligans shows that healing is possible when individuals take accountability and work towards understanding. The narrative doesn’t shy away from the messy and often painful process of forgiveness, making it all the more relatable and impactful for listeners.

Unique Aspects of Mulligans

The Mulligans audiobook stands out for several reasons, from its engaging narrative to its heartfelt exploration of universal themes. Here’s what makes this audiobook a must-listen:

1. Charlie David’s Personal Connection to the Mulligans audiobook

As the creator of Mulligans, Charlie David brings a deeply personal touch to the story. His experiences as a writer, actor, and member of the LGBTQ+ community imbue the narrative with authenticity and empathy. In the audiobook, David’s narration adds another layer of intimacy, as his voice captures the emotional highs and lows of each character’s journey.

2. Multi-Dimensional Characters

One of the strengths of the Mulligans audiobook is its richly developed characters. Each character is flawed yet relatable, making their struggles and triumphs feel genuine. Chase’s charm and vulnerability, Nathan’s internal conflict, Stacey’s quiet strength, and Tyler’s naïve yet supportive nature all contribute to a tapestry of compelling personalities.

3. A Cinematic Feel

The audiobook benefits from its origins as a screenplay. David’s writing is vivid and descriptive, painting scenes that feel almost cinematic. Listeners can easily visualize the serene lakeside setting, the Davidson’s cozy home, and the charged moments of confrontation and connection. This immersive quality makes the audiobook a truly engaging experience.

4. A Balance of Light and Dark

While Mulligans tackles heavy themes, it also weaves in moments of humor and lightness, offering a balanced narrative. These moments of levity make the characters’ struggles more poignant and give listeners a chance to breathe amidst the emotional intensity.

Why Mulligans Should Be Your First Audiobook Purchase

If you’re new to audiobooks, Mulligans is an excellent place to start. Here’s why:

1. Relatable Themes

The themes of family, identity, and second chances are universal, making the story accessible to a wide audience. Whether you’re exploring your own identity, navigating family dynamics, or seeking inspiration to embrace a second chance, Mulligans offers something for everyone.

2. Emotional Depth

Charlie David’s storytelling delves deep into the emotional lives of his characters, creating a listening experience that is both thought-provoking and cathartic. The audiobook format enhances this depth, as David’s narration brings every emotion to life.

3. A Familiar Voice

For fans of the film or those who appreciate a personal connection, hearing the story narrated by its creator adds a special touch. Charlie David’s voice carries the weight of the characters’ journeys while maintaining the sincerity and warmth that make the story so engaging.

4. A Compact Yet Impactful Story

At a manageable length, Mulligans is perfect for first-time audiobook listeners. It’s long enough to immerse you in the world of the Davidsons but concise enough to hold your attention from start to finish.

5. Representation Matters

Mulligans is an important work within LGBTQ+ literature, offering representation and visibility to stories that are often underrepresented. Listening to this audiobook is not only a personal journey but also a way to support diverse storytelling.
