Pete is home but he wants to make sure you notice how pitiful he is.

Throwback Thursday

Written on this date in 2011!!!

Now that I have been here almost a month it seems the proper name for Spotsylvania folk’s hometown is Spotsy.

Today I turned right on Gordon Road to Spotsy instead of left to Fredericksburg.  Got teary and felt so at home driving through the windy wooded road to town.  Signs soon indicated roadwork and I slowed down – waved at the first flagman who doffed his hardhat and bowed at me – now THAT would happen in Whorelendo when pigs fly!  Grinning ear to ear I drove into Spotsy proper looking for the courthouse.  I intended to make the hounds legal and get them all registered and licensed.  I have always kept everyone utd on shots but have never licensed all my dogs as it seems I somehow might of some places rescued over the legal town limit……not in Spotsy!  They have discounted rates for licensing more than 10 dogs.  With more than 20 you do need a kennel permit (thank DoG!)  Had a cheerful clerk type her fingers to the bone getting my 5 all properly licensed to live in the county.  Cost me $10 for 3 year permit for the 3 who have that long left on their Rabies certs – $5 for Hannah Lee and Ru who need updates in 1 and 2 years, respectively.  I nearly lost it when the gentleman next to me was registering his dogs and the clerk asked him how old the first dog was.  He said:  “Let’s see now, seems Booger is 4 years, 3 months and a few days old now”.  I looked at my clerk and began to snigger, soon the two of us were laughing our asses off.  The man looked at me and said: “Well as a pup he always had this stuff hanging outter his nose, ya know?  The name kinda stuck”   DoG have mercy!

Next I went to my tiny library – a branch of our big library system.  Checked out a few books, signed up for Friends of the Library and got information about becoming a volunteer there.  Stopped in a small church thrift shop and the Spotsylvania County Museum too.  Sang at the top of my lungs all the way home!  The song?  Country Roads, Take Me Home, of course!

Out my library window, right now, are 3 deer – a mother and twin fawns.  I think I will stay in Spotsy!
