Some Awe

Awesome is a word that is much overused.


Awesome, dude.


Awesome waves.


Awesome party, man.


But I will tell you what is awesome: this is awesome!

Her parents are awesome.


Reading to her is awesome.


Reading to any child is awesome, but a 14 week old baby who really listens and looks and enjoys books already?

Then and Now

2011 – wow! Reflecting the passage of time on this Throwback Thursday!

In 2004 I packed up a house in which we had lived for 20 years and drove from California to Florida with 3 kids and 3 dogs.  The Colonel was in Iraq.  My family was afraid he was not coming back.  I fled (more or less) to Orlando where I spent 6.5 (more or less) not so happy years.  In the bosom of my family (more or less) I sent The Colonel off to Afghanistan twice and sent 2 beloved dogs to The Rainbow Bridge.  I adopted 4 new dogs.  Made some friends.  Wrote some books.  Did not have a lot of trouble saying goodbye to Floridia. 




 

This year I had help packing up a household of less than 7 years.  I drove much less far with 5 dogs and a husband to the home of my dreams.  Although we have been hit with an earthquake…
