GRANDbump

My sweet daughter is 39 weeks pregnant this week.  Never having carried a child that long, I feel for her.  Just because my two pregnancies resulted in births prior to this week was no reason for me to expect the same from her.  She reminds me that not only are no two people alike, but also no two pregnancies.  She is wise….wiser than her mama!

So she glows and she grows and she rests and contemplates the wonder within.  This child shall not always be within my daughter’s belly, but she will always be within her (and MY) heart.

Mondays With Maggie

My friend, Maggie Honnold is going to guest blog for me the next few weeks.  She is launching her own blog so eventually one will blend into another!!!

She is an author, Basset Hound mom, budding photographer, widow, mediocre cook and lover of everything humorous, Bassets, Birds and Blending, so she proclaims.  Here is her first guest blog!!!

A Ginny Limerick

A recent visit to Ginny, left me without a penny

But I don’t really care

For in going there

I came home with house plants a many.

So, I am not a Haiku poet, but to grow a friendship one does not need to have every single interest match – just blend companionably. That is how it is with my friend Ginny Tata-Phillips, we blend. Our friendship began back when I discovered a group of folks who loved Basset Hounds. Ginny helped me with my first Basset puppy, Hollyberry, introduced me to Basset rescue and adoption, and continues to flood me with Basset care information and encouragement that is much appreciated. We have each had 7 Basset Hounds in our lives.

My newly discovered interest in photography is also being encouraged by Ginny. Here are a couple of pictures taken on my visit to her house last week. I was able to blend both her love of birds and my fascination of photographing them, a visit to the Pigeon Palace, and participate in Chicken Happy Hour, indulging our mutual enjoyment of a good wine. I am a sweet preference girl and Ginny a dry girl but oh well – we blend.

Ginny is encouraging me as a budding writer too. My rescue, Noah, has his own Haiku published in one of her books. She has edited some of my Basset poetry, and was thrilled for me the first time I was published. And now I am excited to “guest” on her blog as “Mondays with Maggie” begins another blended area in our friendship.

Friends like Ginny are a precious part of my life. She grieved with me at the time of the fire that took my home and the lives of my precious pets and spread the word so help began to pour in for our family. She held my hand long distance as I cared for my Alzheimer’s- ridden husband and she has taken time to support me in my grief recovery and my attempt to build a different future for myself. Ginny rocks – there is nothing more to say, except “thank you my friend.” The blending of our lives is a gift I will always cherish and I hope “Mondays with Maggie” will go on for a long time.

The baby will be born this year

2016

If we are all counting correctly, we are at 38 weeks gestation

http://www.thebump.com says my Grandbump is the size of a pumpkin.

This is the pregnant one many years before the idea was a gleam in her eye (I hope!)

So for this week we shall call The Grandbump Jack(queline) cuz Jack-o-Lantern just is no name for a baby!

AND before the end of 2016, we shall hold The Bump in our arms and whisper tales to her of blogs gone by and blogs to come.

These things I know to be true!!!

Murder, She Wrote

For Throwback Thursday…HA! Maybe THIS is why I keep putting off picking berries this year!!! That or the incessant rain…….

gspotsylvania

She picked strawberries.  A LOT of strawberries.

And she made jam.  A LOT of jam.

And it was good.  But when he said “Too bad we don’t have any biscuits to eat with this jam”, she had to kill him.

The end.
