Who doesn't love the Tudors, by Sarah Kennedy

I'm going through a historical reading phase again and reading, amongst other things, the Altarpiece by renaissance scholar and poet, Sarah Kennedy.

In 1535, King Henry VIII’s break from Rome results in England's religious houses being seized by force, and twenty-year-old Catherine Havens' future comes under question. Reading History and loving it!

We had an excellent speaker at our writers' group last month. She talked about writing and researching historical fiction, and it struck me, I've just started writing a story that wasn't even meant to be historical, but it's set in the past because it's a prequel to a story set in the present, and... well, now I'm using Wikipedia to research the history.

I certainly couldn't write historical fiction like the authors of the books I'm reviewing below. I love reading it, but all that research wou...

Action, Adventure and more

I'm late posting book reviews and my best excuse is I've been writing stories too. I sent one off to a competition yesterday and the next one's already whirling around in my head--a story about a cat whose family are heading for America, but this a very special cat, and a very special family. There are dragons and seagulls and rats in the story too. I'm enjoying dreaming it. And there's action and adventure, just as there is in these books. So grab some coffee and enjoy...

First on my list is...

Chickens, Eggs and Fantasy

I've been reading several of Dianne Lynn Gardner's Ian's Realm series recently. If you click on the links you'll find my reviews of

The Dragon Shield has only just been released (this guest post is part of its celebratory tour), and I've even been lucky enough to learn some secrets of the upcoming Rubies and Robbers. As you see, I'm hooked. So I'm delighted to welcome Dianne to my blog with a...

Coincidence or Conspiracy?

Today I get to welcome thriller author Claude Boucharde to my blog with another stop on that Killer Thriller Book Launch. I'm delighted to welcome Fade to Silver author, Catherine Converse, to my blog today as she continues touring with this second book in her young Young Adult In Between Series. First, let me introduce Catherine:

Catherine Converse lives with her husband and four children in beautiful Montana. She squeaked by with a Business Degree at Carroll College, only to realize (while glancing back at transcripts years later) that the only A’s she got were in Writing and Literature classes. She wishes ther...

Adding to the Infinite Sum of Book Reviews

I've edited Infinite Sum and Road to Hemlock. I still need to write Road to Hemlock part II if I'm going to complete the story. And I'm still working on editing Nalya's Sunset and Rose on the Vine. Then there's Love on a Transfer lingering on its way to publication. And then...

And then there's reading, which is good because otherwise I'll end up getting too lost in my own voice. I tried recording my voice for a blog interview the other day. I really really don't want to get lost there!

And the...
