Welcoming aliens, and meeting the creator of the Shala

Today I get to interview Cathy Benedetto, author of  the fascinating Shala novels. Like me, the author loves Anne McCaffrey, Robert Jordan and Orson Scott Card, so I know I'm going to enjoy these books as soon as I find time to read them. But first, let me introduce her:

About Cathy Benedetto:Ms. Benedetto is a writer, artist and avid reader. Her love of science fiction and fantasy inspired her trilogy about the mystical race of warriors known as Shala. Her favorite authors, Anne McCaffre...

What Stephen King Taught Me About Writing, by Andrew Toy

I'm delighted to welcome author Andrew Toy to my blog today, as part of his Tomorrow Comes Media tour. Andrew Toy lives with his wife and dachshunds in Louisville, KY, so I guess, like me, he must like dogs! He's currently editing books of nearly every genre and he's a writing coach for aspiring authors. Andrew and his wife are trying to adopt their first child, and he's using writing and editing to help accomplish this.

Check out some more of his writing and upcoming books

Why's it so difficult to sell a self-published book? by A. B. Whelan

Today I'm delighted to welcome author A. B. Whelan to my blog as she continues to tour with her acclaimed novel, Fields of Elysium. Not only does the novel have a perfect title; it's got the most gorgeous cover too.

Teenagers in love, strange new worlds (and not just the strangeness and newness of a move to LA), high school problems, parent problems (that dreaded GPS watch), and problems that are seriously out of this world--find my review here.  But how will you find the book on shelves...

What she didn't deserve... Saint Sloan by Kelly Martin

I've just finished reading an intriguing YA Christian novel called Saint Sloan, by Kelly Martin. The author deals convincingly with real-life issues, creating very believable teens in the protagonist Sloan, her mother, and her friends (and foes) at school. Sloan has recently committed herself to Christianity, a topic that causes problems at school where friends accuse her of hypocrisy and can't wait to see, or make her fall. But Sloan is felled not by faith but by a cruel intruder who attacks...

Selling Psalm Stories, and reviewing other people's stories too

Psalm Stories stands at #1 in Old Testament and #3 in children's Christian fiction at the moment, and it's free until the end of Thursday. I watch the numbers and dream just one of those buyers might love it enough to buy the whole series and send them soaring into Sunday schools, home-schooler's kindles, family lists of favorite reads and more. But seriously, I'll be happy if someone enjoys the book; happier still if they post a review; happier even more if they tell me they love it... and h...

English American Cuckoos on the Border of England and Wales

I'm delighted to welcome the author of a delightfully English-American book to my blog for an interview today. Author Peter Maughan doesn't really live in a little village called Batch Magna, but if you read his novel you'll travel the British Isles wondering if England and Wales lie on some border just around that next bend... Go to http://www.batchmagna.com/ for a sense of the scenery awaiting you, and read the book to meet Miss Wyndham, village spinster and true crime enthusiast,  the...

Not a typical storybook hero: Journey in to Azra's Pith

Today I get to welcome Elizabeth Parkington-Bellows, author of the exciting Alexander Drake middle-grade books to my blog with a fascinating post introducing her young hero. There's a great rafflecopter giveaway at the end of the post too. But first, here are links to my reviews of Alexander Drake's Extraordinary Pursuit and The Return of General Drake. And now, I'll let the author tell us a little about herself:

Being the frizzy-haired tomboy with buck teeth gave me a slight case of shyn...

Number One in Japan !!!!!

Today's been an interesting day in the kindle promotion for Genesis People. From one sale in Japan yesterday (yes, Japan), the book has moved up the list to #1 in Christian books. As my publisher says, word of mouth must work, since we've certainly not been working on Japanese promotion. Anyway, here's a picture to prove it--can you tell I'm excited!

Here it is at Number 2
and now Number 1 !!!!!
Plus, I've reached Number one in Canada too. Thank you to my Canadian friends!Genesis People has made...

7 Tips to Writing Humor, from author J. D. Smith

Today I get to welcome author J. D. Smith to my blog. Having recently landed on planet earth he has written an invaluable new guide book, Notes of a Tourist on Planet Earth: Being a Collection of Hilarious Essays, Poems and Ponderings about the Human Species. A species worth much pondering perhaps, and a source of much humor too. J.D. takes readers through a satirical tour of the peculiarities in our world, providing fresh and sharp wit to issues like wearing black, bestiality, and rejected m...
