More Book Reviews as I struggle to catch up

I'm not quite sure how we got halfway through April while I'm still feeling like February. I can't even blame the weather. It may be cold still in England, but here we've had spring sun as well as rain and the weeds are abundantly happy. So I cut them down, dig them out, rake them in, and wonder if typos might grow in my stories as liberally as they. There was that one where Joel changed his name to Joseph halfway down the page, and auntie became mother in the middle of a line... but I'm fixi...

Jackie Fullerton's Tribute to Editors

I'm delighted to welcome author Jackie Fullerton to my blog today. I'm currently reading her latest mystery, Ring around the Rosy, and I remember enjoying her Revenge Served Cold a while ago. I'll have to read the first in the series, Piercing the Veil, one day, but at least I can justify saying the novels are thoroughly enjoyable, even read out of order. If you were ever hooked on Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) on TV, and even if you weren't, this might be just the mystery series for you. (C...

It's in the Mail... More book reviews

Is it possible to be numerically dyslexic? I sent a submission packet in the mail--a rare occurrence for me since paper weighs and postage costs money so I usually only go in for email submissions. But I really wanted to try this one. It was worth the effort of printing (or getting someone else to print--my printer's still broken), enveloping, carrying, paying for tracking etc. The only problem is, I switched two digits in the zip code when I wrote the address on my nice bright Priority Mail...

Why a cardiac surgeon wrote The Spirit of the Heart

Today I get to welcome a cardiac surgeon, Dr. Ismael  Nuño, to my site. As well as mending hearts, he's the author of a non-fiction story collection called The Spirit of the HeartIt's hard to imagine how someone with such a high-stress, high-power job finds time or patience to write, so it should be fascinating to learn why Dr. Nuño wrote this book.

First, the book blurb: Written by former leading cardiac surgeon Dr. Ismael Nuño – The Spirit of the Heart is a collection of heart-w...

Matchmaking, with author Regan Black

My romantic novel, Love on a Transfer, is getting closer to publication. It's rather a change from my other books so I'm slightly nervous as well as excited about its upcoming release. Of course, there are a lot of romantic novels out there, and a lot of really good novelists writing them, one of whom is author Regan Black, and I'm delighted to welcome her to my blog today as she celebrates the release of The Matchmaker's Curse.

First I'll introduce Regan Black the award-winning author of para...

Pulling weeds from flowers and words from a novel

After enjoying a talk on research at our local writers' group and various guest posts on research, I decided it was time to do... some research. So the bed in our spare room (Mum's bed during her Christmas visits here) is covered with Bibles, commentaries, atlases, picture books, history books and more. And I've written the first eight stories of my next Five Minute Bible Stories book! It's going well, I think. I'm learning lots of "stuff." And I'm preparing a Bible study to go with it since...

Printless and reading still

Ah, if only I'd managed to work my way properly into the paperless world. Then my coupons would go to my phone and I wouldn't have to try to print them from the internet. But here I am, neither one place nor the other, with coupons that don't come through the mail, and a printer that won't print the ones which come through email. Soon, I promise I'll buy a new printer. Meanwhile I've learned that black, while not technically a color, is a very important shade. It's not just the small-print th...
