'grotesquerie' Reviewed on YouTube

A great review of grotesquerie has been uploaded to YouTube, courtesy of Well Read Beard. My thanks to him for taking the time to read my book and share his insights in this video. (Being regarded as "a new level of imagination" and being likened to the work of Ray Bradbury and Jeffrey Ford is very flattering indeed.)

grotesquerie will be available September 1st at booksellers worldwide. Copies can also be ordered via Undertow Publications here

John Langan on 'grotesquerie'

John Langan, one of the finest writers in our field, had the following to say about grotesquerie:

" grotesquerie contains the latest records of Richard Gavin's continuing explorations of the intersection between the mundane and the numinous, the earthly and the spectral, the pastoral and the horrific.  Drawing on and in dialogue with such writers of the visionary weird as Aickman, Ligotti, and Machen, Gavin's fictions extend the tradition into bold new territory.  Original, idiosyncratic, Richard Gavin is like no one else." --- John Langan, author of The Fisherman and Children of the Fang and Other Genealogies
I am incredibly flattered by and grateful for John's words.

grotesquerie will be available September 1st in both paperback and e-book editions.

Trade paperbacks can be pre-ordered here, or through your favourite online book retailer.

e-book editions are available for pre-order here.

Priya Sharma on 'grotesquerie'

The wonderful Priya Sharma, author of the Shirley Jackson Award-winning collection All the Fabulous Beasts, had this to say about grotesquerie:

“In grotesquerie, Richard Gavin summons ancient gods and vengeful ghosts. He nods knowingly to the horror/weird fiction greats, but forges a singularly unique vision.” - Priya Sharma, author of Ormeshadow

Copies of grotesquerie can be ordered here.
Release date is September 1st.

Laird Barron on 'grotesquerie'

The incredibly talented Laird Barron was kind enough to read the galleys of grotesquerie and has offered Undertow Publications the following blurb:

"Richard Gavin is an important figure in the contemporary horror/weird fiction field. Influenced by masters such as Blackwood and Ligotti, Gavin is cerebral, yet empathetic. He re-configures classical tropes to suit his own unique perspective. grotesquerie is a major event."
--- Laird Barron, author of Swift to Chase

I'm very flattered by Laird praise.

grotesquerie is available for pre-order now and will be widely available in September.

Review of THE BENIGHTED PATH

Robert Podgurski, author of The Sacred Alignments and Sigils: Angelic Magick, Renaissance Thought, and Modern Methods of Sigilization , has written a very thoughtful review of my book of esotericism, The Benighted Path: Primeval Gnosis & the Monstrous Soul (Theion Publishing, 2015).

A sample of the review:

"A purely linear or diachronic reading ofBP does the study and oneself a great disservice. Gavin’s work is highly discursive and winds about with subconsciously articulated convolutions in and upon itself constantly pushing the reader’s sense of contiguity to its limits. The work is purposefully suggestive and allusive."

I am grateful to Mr. Podgurski for taking the time to not only read this particular work of mine but also to share his insights as to its ethos. The full review may be viewed here.

Copies of The Benighted Path (of which only a few remain) may be ordered here.
