WeWriWa: His Father’s Son . . . New Paranormal Release - PRINCE OF DREAMS!

Finding and falling for the perfect woman is hard enough. Throw in the fact that you’re of a different species and your purpose is to destroy everything she loves . . . well, that’s kind of a deal breaker. What’s a hero to do . . .?

She thought he was a bastard and she was right.

No amount of excuses could erase the truth that he’d used her, hurt her and was going to continue to do both . . . and she let him. She’d accepted his duplicity with an amazing outward calm, not flinging the contents of her coffee cup at him but instead, opening the door of reward. Though she knew exactly what he was doing, still she gave him what he wanted, entry into her household and her father’s world for the price of a Judas kiss.

He was despicable, his father’s son, and far from proud of that fact.

The best thing he could do for Ophelia Brady was what she expected-grab the gift-wrapped opportunity and never look her way again - the best thing for both of them.

In the morning, he’d check out of his hotel room and sign a lease on the trendy renovated apartment he’d found in the Garden District, adding that opportunistic address to his resume before handing it to the snotty Nick DePoussier, and then, as Christopher Fraser, he’d follow in that creep’s footsteps by walking all over a wonderful girl who didn’t deserve it.

Because he was a Terriot. Nothing came before family. And he had a lot to make up for if he was to ever wear that name with pride again.

What’s the price of pride? I think he’ll find out it’s more than he can pay.

He'd said he wasn't a mobster. . . She should have asked if he was a monster.
Who was this too good to be true, always ready in a crisis guy working a menial job for her father? Ophelia knew things. Something was not quite normal about the Kip Terriot hiding behind another name in lace-up dress shoes and a preppy wardrobe – something wild and exciting as all hell. A dangerous something calling to that restless difference in her own soul.

Ophelia . . . daughter of his enemy, girl of his dreams

So sassy, so sweet so perfect . . . and what he had to do would destroy her.

Kip was in New Orleans to save his clan and his kind, not to play white knight for Ophelia Brady with her quirky habits, curvy body and tormented past. His deception would rip the heart from her world, not help heal it. Was his family’s nemesis using his own daughter to make Kip the played instead of the player, pulling him between love and duty to make an impossible choice?

WeWriWa: It’s Alive! Your PRINCE OF DREAMS is HERE!!!

My shapeshifter PRINCE OF DREAMS sinks his teeth into the dark paranormal world with the release of my 69th title (not counting all those reprints!)! And he is a dream come true.

Perhaps not for my heroine, at the moment. We left them simmering at the Café du Monde in New Orleans, ready to explore their relationship when he kills the mood by suggesting they’ll have more time for one another if she helps him find a job in her city. For Phe, who has been taken in by one too many gold diggers looking for the means to latch onto her wealthy and powerful father, these aren’t the words she’d longed to hear. But stoically she agrees to make the introduction. We pick them up as he’s dropping her off at her palatial Garden District home – parking on the dark street instead of pulling up to the door.

“I’m glad you called.”

Phe could almost believe he meant that.

His fingertips grazed her chin, and before she could react, Kip closed the space between them to kiss her, a quick touch making her gasp, followed by a slow slant that had her holding her breath, her eyes squeezed tight to deny tears. If he noticed how stiffly she held herself, he didn’t let it matter, parting her slack lips with the slide of his tongue, provoking hers into a bit of reacquainting urgency before she braced palms against his chest to leverage distance.

“No,” in a quiet, rational tone, she told him, “It’s better if we’re just friends, since you wouldn’t want my father to think you’d sleep your way into a job. He’d boot you all the way back to Nevada. Just friends is better for both of us.”

A long silence then he had the nerve to ask, “Is that what you think?”

“Pull up to the gate, they’ll let you drive to the door.”

Without comment, he settled back behind the wheel and u-turned into the drive, following it to the covered entrance where a suited guard with a tell-tale bulge under his arm opened the door for her so she could get out without a word or a backward glance.

Whaaat? Just friends? But then where have we heard that before only to have things heat up in a hurry? I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much restraint these two can manage when under the same roof.

WeWriWa: Write In-Write on / Release Day Cometh!

Nothing like a working writers’ weekend to get a new project AND a new book release off the ground and running! With PRINCE OF DREAMS, my final “House of Terriot” book debuting Tuesday, Oct. 2 across all platforms, it’s time to snuggle in with Max Savoie and start RISE BY MOONLIGHT! Hope to share from it soon.

Following up on last weekend’s snippet, our hero, the youngest Terriot prince who picked the worst possible time to find the girl of his dreams, tells her he’s looking for a reason to remain in New Orleans. She’d hoped SHE was the reason, but suspects his interest is sparked by another, less romantic purpose . . .

Phe should have known better, but she’d wanted to believe . . . what, that a dream like Kip Terriot would fall for her without knowing, oh, by the way, her dad was one of the richest and most connected men in Orleans County? He was just like the dozens before and probably after him, looking for a quick and easy in.

Keeping her focus on the rapidly cooling coffee, she told him evenly, “Nick is the one you need to talk to since he vets prospective employees for IT and communications for the private side of my dad’s business, and I assume that’s what you’re interested in.”

“The guy you were with tonight?”

“I offered to help him, too, and smart, like you, he took advantage of it.” And me, the son of a bitch. Though she should have been inured to it by this time, the pain and disappointment went as deep as her every expectation.

She looked up then, smile fixed, its falseness hidden by experience, to say, “I’ll have him call you and set up an interview.”

“You’ve got my number.”

Oh yes, she did, in spades.

WeWriWa: Just Give Me a Reason / PoD on Tour!

With PRINCE OF DREAMS just a week and a day from its October 2 release (hyperventilating!), I’m scrambling to get everything ready (Does that ever really happen?). In the meantime, I’m continuing with last week’s scene of budding hopeful (hopeless?) romance between my hero and heroine. He’s just confessed that his expected plan to return to his family home has changed, letting her believe she’s the reason. But is that the truth or just her now broken dream?

Before Phe could have a complete melt down, Kip added, “I need more than that because my family won’t just let me go. Right now, I’m the youngest in a long line, who happens to be good with numbers, and I don’t want to be labeled because of my family name and reputation.” He struck a nerve with her there. “I have to become more to earn their respect to prove I can make it on my own, and not just as one in a pack.” As her brows puckered at that odd phrase, he hurried on, “That’s where I hope you’ll help me.”

Caution bred from too many disappointments, Ophelia leaned back, pulling away from his earnest gaze to stare into the dark brew warming her hands as she asked, “Help you how?”

“I need a reason to stay in New Orleans while I explore other, more attractive options.”

As much as she longed to, Ophelia didn’t dare look up at him, knowing how easily he could sway her by showing just a bit more of that toothy smile when she asked, “And that reason would be?”

“You offered to help me find a job, that’d be a great first step, maybe something where we could see more of each other.”

Dammit!

Whoa! That’s some reaction! Next week’s snippet reveals her interpretation of his “grand plan” . . . and it’s not good. But then when has romance ever run smoothly?

Why wait? Pre-order. Consider it a pre-Halloween goodie with more cardio than calorie!

While waiting for PoD to go live, my characters continue their tour with goodies and giveaways galore in my PRINCE OF DREAMS SPOOKTACULAR TOUR, celebrating not only their story, but all the great things about the month of October. Follow along the stops for chances to win awesome prizes, including my $10 Amazon gift card.

It’s Haunted Halloween Spooktacular Time!

Is that Pumpkin Spice I smell? Is the morning commute just a little bit nippier? Does that rustle of leaves warn of spooky times right around the corner? IT’S BAAAAACK! Bewitching Blog Tour’s Haunted Halloween Spooktacular is counting down to my favorite holiday with fun posts and great prizes and frightfully good reads!! Hop aboard my crazy train tour with destination October 31 . . . with an important stop for a new release on October 2!!

What’s Halloween without monsters? It’s a season made for paranormal rule. And my favorite – werewolves and shapeshifters!

Media treatment has changed since those first righteous villagers with torches. From “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” to Michael J. Fox in “Teen Wolf,” came a new shift to acceptance of that ‘different’ monster as still a man, or in this case, a swoon-worthy hot teen. Then, with “American Werewolf in London” we got not only horribly (cool!) realistic transformations but something even better – sly humor and a reluctant monster we rooted for even when he got his just desserts!

Romance took longer to give the brutish werewolf a break than it did the elegant vampire. Vampires were intelligent and beautiful if deadly, werewolves brutal and filled with snarling, uncontrolled rage. I started out with vampires in my “Touched by Midnight” series, loving the sleek, seductive otherworldliness of them. But then came Max Savoie, the dark, tortured Shifter antihero of my “By Moonlight” books, who didn’t know what he was or that there were others like him. Cool, smart, magnificent and HOT in the eyes of my NOPD heroine, readers watched him evolve from the shadows to a figure of power and influence. As those books branched off into my current “House of Terriot” series, the shapeshifter legacy transformed into warring clans and star-crossed couples, of which PRINCE OF DREAMS (now available for preorder!) is the final before a triumphant return to Max in 2019.

In the paranormal romance world, heroic qualities change the monster into a male worthy of admiration . . . and love. As my tag line goes: “Deadly, dangerous and delicious!” Nothing is more romantic than the beauty who tames her beast!

WeWriWa: Appearances Can Be Deceiving . . . So Can Our Heroes

Is Kip Terriot trouble Ophelia Brady doesn’t need? Sure, her rescuer is cute and charming, but what is he hiding? Once bitten by silky lines from too many insincere guys, twice shy Phe knows ‘too good to be true’ probably is just that. Could this one be different?

“Are you a mobster?”

With their conversation treading on delicate ground, our hero tries to tiptoe around pointed questions the heroine poses with all the skill of her police commissioner father as she tries to peel away the mysteries surrounding him and his family. It’s not like he can just come out and tell her the truth – that he’s not in any way, shape or unnatural form what he seems to be . . .

“We like our privacy, so I see to that, too.”

Her suspicions weren’t calmed. “So, why are you here?”

“My family’s thinking of expanding in a partnership of sorts and I’m checking on the viability.”

“Then you’ll go back home.”

His steady stare never wavered from hers as he admitted, “I don’t think that’s my plan anymore.”

Her hopes fluttered wildly before she could catch them. “What’s here that you want?”

A grin. “One thing comes to mind.”

So, is that good news for our heroine or a run like hell warning? Her PRINCE OF DREAMS just might become her nightmare if she’s not careful.

WeWriWa: Woo Hoo! It’s PRINCE OF DREAMS Pre-Order Time!

Sorry to be MIA last week but I was sooooo busy paddling under the surface to get ready for today’s post and ANNOUNCEMENT! PRINCE OF DREAMS, the final book in my “House of Terriot” dark shapeshifter series is available for pre-order on Amazon (and soon other venues!)!! It seems like this moment was forever in the making but now, it’s finally here!

And speaking of things under the surface, today’s excerpt from PoD is a moment of truth for my hero and heroine, a time for answers to those sticky questions . . . and hers is a doozy!

“Are you a mobster?”

With a booming laugh that trickled down to a lopsided smile, Kip asked, “Is that what you think, a mobster befriending the daughter of a police commissioner?” At Ophelia’s blink of surprise, he scoffed, “It’s not like no one in New Orleans knows you.”

Not rising to her own defense, she got back to her original question, arguing, “It would explain the money, the flash, the disappearances, the secrecy.”

“Yeah, it would, but it doesn’t. We’ve got money, lots of it that my brothers earn in Reno and Las Vegas through our casinos and hotels. We earn it honestly, and I invest it for them, all above board.”

“Then why hasn’t anyone ever heard of you?” Okay, she’d done some subtle checking. Nada.

Can’t wait for next week to see what he has the say to that!

In the meantime, here’s a look at the full package, blurb, and buy link for my upcoming release, PRINCE OF DREAMS . . .

WeWriWa: When a Kiss Isn’t a Kiss . . . and a Sale continues!

A soldier without a cause, Marchand has searched for something to fight for, not expecting it to be for his life against the lost and seemingly helpless young woman he rescues. But Nicole is not an ordinary female. The same violent nature that sent her fleeing her home when she discovered her father’s curse, runs through her veins and demands to be fed . . .

Marchand wasn’t sure what happened. One moment she was all clinging vulnerability and the next, her purpose shifted aggressively, grasping fingers beginning a hard, kneading pressure along the muscles of his back and shoulders while her supple body pressed against him. He almost pulled away—not because he didn’t like it, but because it was such an unexpected change.

Her breathing stroked along the side of his neck in light, panting whispers, his own held suspended then gusting out in an explosive sigh when he felt the first soft brush of her lips there, just below his ear, followed by the lingering rasp of her tongue. Her fingers had come up to rub along his jaw in a demanding passion, then clamped with a paralyzing sharpness into the cording on the other side of his neck. In a brief spike of surprise, he realized he couldn’t move . . .then he didn’t want to. He forgot about struggle, about making love to her, or even of how to respond to what she was doing, lost, hypnotized by the seducing caress of her breath upon his throat. Beneath the urgent press of her mouth, his pulse was lulled into a seductive sluggishness. He was aware of his eyes closing, of the world darkening, thinking, Mon Dieu, am I going to swoon?

Suddenly, Nicole shoved away from him, forcing him to scramble for balance and shake his head, trying to free his mind from its odd lethargy as she cried, “No,I won’t, I can’t.”

WeWriWa: A Forbidden Taste of MIDNIGHT TEMPTATION (and a Sale!)

As I’ve often said, you can’t keep an undead hero (or heroine!) down. That’s particularly true of Nicole LaValois in MIDNIGHT TEMPTATION, an innocent miss whose strange proclivities are explained when she discovers a devastating family secret she flees in denial. Alone and innocent in dangerous post Revolution France, she’s taken in by a bohemian group of friends, placing them all in unexpected danger from the threat that stalks her and the truth tormenting her. Take a taste . . .

Lying beside him, longing for his closeness as much as she feared it, Nicole remained awake until the early dawn hours, listening to the sounds of her companions’ slumber and to the night music of the city beyond. She found it difficult to sleep, her system attuned to those dark hours where energy pulsed in the Paris streets. The cool breeze beckoned to instincts she didn’t understand. She lay next to Marchand, watching over him, not daring to touch him, her desire for him growing as severe as the constant hunger threading through her veins.

What had begun to attract her appetite was not served upon a plate. It throbbed, a rich and forbidden temptation, through those around her.

As she lay there at night remembering the taste of Marchand’s blood, that secret contemplation horrified and fascinated. She could feel his heart beating even though they weren’t touching, could hear it sending those rivers of delight through his body with every soft thrum. The taste . . . ambrosia, whetting a desire like none she’d known.

The desire . . . for more.

Hunt or be hunted . . . A centuries old obsession stalks a noble family fighting to hide their dark secret from an ever-changing world. Sink your teeth into Nancy Gideon's Touched by Midnight series.
A Wicked Legacy . . .

Terrified by her unusual strength and frightening urges, Nicole Radouix’s sheltered country life is shattered when she discovers her family’s secret— she’s the daughter of a mortal mother and vampire father. Stricken, she flees to the seductive lure of the city to discover the truth about who and what she is. But the turmoil of post-revolution Paris is no place for an innocent.

A Wild Desire . . .

Finding herself under the protection of noble ex-patriot Marchand La Valois, Nicole is pulled into deadly underworld struggles, both political and vampiric. As their passions ignite, Marchand soon realizes the lovely Nicole is more predator than prey and may be more of a threat than the unruly streets outside.

An Unthinkable Dilemma . . .

Desperate to control her dark desires, Nicole accepts an offer of guidance from a hypnotic enemy, ensnaring both her and Marchand in a dangerous web of centuries’ old revenge. To escape their deadly nighttime games, Nicole must embrace her immortality. But will it cost her Marchand’s eternal love?

∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ Revisiting this book makes me remember how much I adored researching historical settings, this one so close on the heels of the first time I saw Les Miz on stage (still my favorite!). As if the times weren’t dangerous enough . . . throw in a freaking vampire-in-training! MIDNIGHT TEMPTATION is one of my pet projects, with a cast of characters I couldn’t get enough of (thank goodness they’re immortal!). If you haven’t taken a taste of the Midnight series, this $0.99 exotic sampler of setting, scares, sexy villains and noble heroes will whet your appetite.

MIDNIGHT TEMPTATION is on sale through the end of the month and I’ll be sharing from it again next weekend. Bon appetite!
