WeWriWa: Just Give Me a Reason / PoD on Tour!

With PRINCE OF DREAMS just a week and a day from its October 2 release (hyperventilating!), I’m scrambling to get everything ready (Does that ever really happen?). In the meantime, I’m continuing with last week’s scene of budding hopeful (hopeless?) romance between my hero and heroine. He’s just confessed that his expected plan to return to his family home has changed, letting her believe she’s the reason. But is that the truth or just her now broken dream?
Whoa! That’s some reaction! Next week’s snippet reveals her interpretation of his “grand plan” . . . and it’s not good. But then when has romance ever run smoothly?
Before Phe could have a complete melt down, Kip added, “I need more than that because my family won’t just let me go. Right now, I’m the youngest in a long line, who happens to be good with numbers, and I don’t want to be labeled because of my family name and reputation.” He struck a nerve with her there. “I have to become more to earn their respect to prove I can make it on my own, and not just as one in a pack.” As her brows puckered at that odd phrase, he hurried on, “That’s where I hope you’ll help me.”
Caution bred from too many disappointments, Ophelia leaned back, pulling away from his earnest gaze to stare into the dark brew warming her hands as she asked, “Help you how?”
“I need a reason to stay in New Orleans while I explore other, more attractive options.”
As much as she longed to, Ophelia didn’t dare look up at him, knowing how easily he could sway her by showing just a bit more of that toothy smile when she asked, “And that reason would be?”
“You offered to help me find a job, that’d be a great first step, maybe something where we could see more of each other.”
Dammit!
Why wait? Pre-order. Consider it a pre-Halloween goodie with more cardio than calorie!
