Nancy Lawrence writes traditional Regency romances, where the heroes are gentlemen, the heroines are ladies, and there’s always a fancy-dress ball to attend. Nancy lives with her family in Aurora, Colorado, “the best city in the world if you can’t live in Bath, England.”

I'm so glad you liked Mary and the Captain! I'm working on the sequel right now. You're right; there are a lot of things to cover, like Mary's wedding and honeymoon, Daniel's new life with his grandfather, and, of course, Caroline's budding attraction to Mr. Penrose. I'll post updates on my progress here on Goodreads, especially as I get closer to my publication date. Thanks again for your kind words about Mary and the Captain. All the best to you! Nancy(less)

I had a scene in my mind of a Regency-era soldier trying to get home for Christmas, who, instead, is forced to spend Christmas Eve night at an inn. Originally, I thought that scene might develop into a short Christmas story, but I was wrong! It's funny how the right combination of characters, settings and circumstances have a way of taking over a story! As the story developed, my soldier met someone at the inn with no family or home of his own. Now my soldier is faced with a dilemma: follow his own heart and continue on his journey home to see his family on Christmas Day; or right an injustice and bring the joy of Christmas to someone less fortunate. Soon, that little short story I originally envisioned grew into 400+ pages and a book I thoroughly enjoyed writing. (less)

The title of this piece is “The Honeymoon.” I rather like the romantic setting, as the newlyweds relax together on a grassy slope beside a gentle brook, while a pair of swans glide by. Do you suppose the gentleman is reading poetry to the lady?
