Choosing a College
Yesterday I talked about how to choose a college major if you want to be a writer. So gather round, fishies, and today we're discussing how to choose a college in general!
Now, the order of these posts was important. Some people choose a college, THEN choose a major. And there's nothing inherently horrible about that, but I highly recommend choosing a major and THEN choosing a college. We'll come back to this point in a few moments.
I don't feel super qualified to give advice on choosing a college

What to study in college?
I've gotten asked a few times now: What should I study IN college if I want to be a writer?
I'm hardly the authority on choosing what to study in college, since I got degrees in English and Philosophy. I don't know if you've noticed, but there aren't any jobs that pay big money for papers on Jane Austen or Emmanuel Kant. Also, I was a terrible student in school and wrote said papers on Austen and Kant the day before they were due.
Suffice it to say: Take all this with a grain of salt, and if your

Debs Stuff
I have not one, but TWO Debs things to share.
One:
Two:
This is Lipstick Apology, by Jennifer Jabaley.

Jennifer is the only other writer in Georgia. Ok, that's not true, but she's one of the few. That makes me like her even more than I would anyway, and I would already like her a lot anyway.
Here's the blurb for LIPSTICK APOLOGY:
Sometimes a good-bye is just the beginning…
When Emily Carson's parents die in a plane crash, she's left with nothing but her mother's last words scrawled in lipstick on a tra

Dude, this is way too much work.

Oh fail = Contest!
So TwiCon stuff and videos and joy will come soon, but first...I must correct my fail.
You see, I'm supposed to be blogging about Debs books. But I've been failing. I've been MADE of fail, actually. I realized today I've missed THREE books I'm supposed to blog about, because I've been looking at the book RELEASE calendar instead of the BLOG TOUR calendar.
Yes, yes, I am an idiot.
So, ladies and gentleman, to make up for the fail, here are three awesome books and a CONTEST.

Cat Nerves
Today it is raining, raining, raining. There's a 60% chance of rain every hour.
This is unfortunate because I have lots to do today. I've been at band camp for the past week and a half (go ahead, make the joke, but then move on, k?) and so I haven't been able to do all sorts of stuff that must be done before I get on a plane to go to TwiCon this evening. I am nervous about flying, my panel, and selling my first fifty books.
And on top of that, I'm nervous about baby Alcott:

So on Tuesday night, I g
