Catching up after a busy Labor Day Weekend
Friday was one of the hottest (and most humid!) days of the year here in Orange County, but the Cameron clan had a very cool time at the booksigning and belly dance showcase that Laguna Beach Books hosted for us.
The event took place on The Old Pottery Place's brick terrace overlooking Coast Highway and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, with the lovely Danielle Bauter (you might remember her from this interview) starting things off. After her introduction, I gave a short reading of THE BELLY...

Writer's Digest and my query for THE BELLY DANCER
If you're looking through the query letter examples in the latest issue of Writer's Digest, you'll find mine for THE BELLY DANCER on page 32.My wonderful agent, Ellen Pepus, was kind enough to submit it for the feature titled "Real Queries That Worked," compiled by Jessica Strawser.
Thanks, Ellen!

Sending congratulations...
...to my friend and fellow OCC/RWA chapter mate Tessa Dare on the release of the second book in her romance trilogy, SURRENDER OF A SIREN. It's a followup to her debut, GODDESS OF THE HUNT, which
came out last month and has been wildly successful. Her third installment in the trilogy is set to release next month, and then -- as if that isn't enough -- she's got another three in a new trilogy coming out next year. She is definitely an author to watch!
Way to go, Tessa :-)

'An Evening at the Cleopatra Club' Recap
Boy, Aziza Sa'id and her dancers really know how to throw a party! I had so much fun at their "Evening at the Cleopatra Club" on Saturday night in Riverside. I arrived knowing only my OCC/RWA chapter mate Shauna Roberts (pictured with me in front of the lovely table they decorated for me to sign books. You can't see it, but the table is swathed in gorgeous burgundy fabrics with Moroccan lanterns -- tres chic!) But by the end of the night, I felt like I'd known these ladies for years. They are su

Signing in Riverside at 'An Evening at the Cleopatra Club'
The fabulous Aziza Sai'd has invited me to sign copies of THE BELLY DANCER on Saturday at "An Evening at the Cleopatra Club," which is her monthly hafla in Riverside, CA.
In addition to the booksigning, there'll be dancing -- lots and lots of dancing -- as well as live music and food.
The event will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Anahata Movement Arts, 3742 Tibbetts St., Suite 202, Riverside, CA. For more information, call (951) 276-YOGA (9642) or visit http://anahatamovementarts.wordpress.com.

Aug. 8 booksigning at Barnes and Noble in Costa Mesa
Here I am with my OCC/RWA chapter mates (from left) Debra Mullins, Jennifer Haymore and Tessa Dare during our booksigning at the Barnes & Noble in Costa Mesa. It was a casual event and a great way to spend a Saturday evening, thanks largely to the excellent care and coordination we received from the store's community relations manager, Kaye Nemec. We were there just a couple of hours, and those hours went by so fast! Most of the evening is a blur, but here's my top 5 list of what I'll remember:

THE BELLY DANCER goes international...
I just heard that the Japanese rights have sold to THE BELLY DANCER -- yay!
Of course it's a nice way to make some extra money, but I think I'm most excited about seeing a Japanese cover.
Maybe I'll even splurge on some celebratory sushi for dinner :-)
