Book Description:
Newlyweds Jay and Adriana had a happy marriage and a spectacular sex life—until tragedy struck. Wounded in a car accident, Jay spent a year recuperating while Adriana worked overtime as a chef to pay their bills. Though he’s made nearly a full recovery, some aspects of their intimate play will never be the same. It’s a small price to pay, all things considered.
But when a long struggle with the insurance company results in an overdue payout, Jay has a plan. He’ll take some of it and hire a high-end rent boy who specializes in sexual dominance. Not for him, but as a gift for Adriana, for taking care of him for the past twelve months.
Paul is the handsome stranger they choose…and the one who changes everything. What starts out as a onetime session to fulfill a fantasy turns into something bigger than all of them. But when the money runs out and Paul’s dangerous past resurfaces, the sacrifices required to stay together may end up tearing them apart…
About the Author:Solace Ames has roots in the Southeast US, although her heart lives somewhere along the Pacific coast of Mexico. She's worked in restaurants, strip clubs, academia and the corporate world and studied everything from the philosophy of science to queer theory to medieval Spanish literature. Rejecting neat categories, her writing sprawls across genres and genders and swings from high art to low art, marching with the erotic avant-garde, tongue sometimes in cheek and at other times... well. Along with writing, education and political activism are her passions. Family takes up most of her time, but she loves to keep learning.

Review of Wild Things: Chicagoland Vampires Book 9 by Chloe Neill
Wild Things by Chloe NeillMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another fabulous installment of the Chicagoland Series. Book 9 and we're treated with more mystery, more drama, and a lot more sizzle between Merit and Ethan...and we finally get a more in depth look at the shifter world we've only seen bits and pieces of before.
The mayor has it in for Ethan. After the big blowout he has with GP members on Cadogan property- which resulted in the death of one of them in the previous book- she has something to use against him- even if the police decided it was self defense the major is using it to publicly lynch him and all the vampires.
Ethan and Merit leave town and end up outside Chicago in the home of wealthy shifters, one who happens to be Merit's old boyfriend. But it's not just the Breckenridge clan in residence, many members of the North American Central Pack are there for their annual Lupercalia celebration. Ethan, Merit, Mallory and Catcher get invited to participate in an event that not many non-shifters ever get to see.
Of course things go horribly wrong and they get blamed for it and once again are on the hunt to figure out who is behind the debacle so they can clear their names and deal with other troubling issues- like the Mayor and her "witch hunt" and torment of the local vampires and Cadogan's problems with the GP.
Once I started reading I do not want to put this book down. Twists, turns, questions, drama, and a healthy dash of sizzle blend in this book for a perfect page turning read.
I am looking forward to book ten coming out later this year.

The Cowboy and the Vampire Reboot
Let ‘er buck! The Cowboy and the Vampire Reboot
The phrase “you can’t judge a book by its cover” is a lie. It’s a damn lie. People do it all the time. Art is truth.
To mark the upcoming May 2014 release of the third book in The Cowboy and the Vampire Collection, the series was treated to a gothic western makeover, with artwork commissioned exclusively for the series.
“We wanted to give readers something special and the new covers get right to the heart of the series,” said co-author Hays. “Go on and judge the books by these covers! They bring together the paranormal and the western elements perfectly, setting a dark tone with just a hint of the humor.”
“Each time you look at the images, you see something a bit different, even more of the opposites-attract romantic theme pops, and the overtones of simmering passion,” said co-author McFall.
Get caught up on the love between Tucker and Lizzie now before the release of book three.

Blood and WhiskeyThe Cowboy and the Vampire

Clark Hays and Kathleen McFall
“Strong writing, funny characters … riveting.” – Kirkus Reviews
Welcome back to LonePine, Wyoming. It’s like any other slowly dying town in the modern American West. Except it’s suddenly lousy with vampires.
Cultures clash as the vampire illuminati ride into town to settle ancient scores, test loyalties and thrash out a new world order. Can the fragile relationship between a cowboy and a vampire survive lust, betrayal and country music?
Grab the reins and hold on tight as Tucker and Lizzie stampede through rural America and across the vampire afterlife, desperate to protect their unlikely love.
A Tangled Publishing HistoryThe first book of this series, A Very Unusual Romance, was published in 1999, long before the vampire craze. With comparisons to Anne Rice and Zane Grey, the book gained a devoted following with initial sales of more than 10,000 print units. Fast forward a decade, and the publisher (Llewellyn) brought out the book as a second edition in 2010, aiming to capitalize on the Twilightmega-hit. Meanwhile, the authors wrote the second book in the series — Blood and Whiskey — bringing it out under their own imprint (Pumpjack Press, 2012). In 2013, they gained the rights back for the original book, and now, with book three poised for publication in May 2014, the restored Cowboy and Vampireseries has been redesigned with exclusive art and is coming out for the first time in 15 years as a complete collection. Yippi-ki-yay!
About the Authors:Between the two of them, Clark Hays and Kathleen McFall have worked in writing jobs ranging from cowboy-poet to energy journalist to restaurant reviewer to university press officer. After they met, their writing career took center stage when they wrote the first book in The Cowboy and the Vampire Collection as a test for marriage. They passed. Clark and Kathleen now live in Portland, Oregon.

Giveaway: Telling Tales by Charlotte Stein
Telling TalesCharlotte SteinSourcebooks CasablancaISBN 9781402289590
Allie has held a brightly burning torch for Wade since college. They were part of a writing group together, and everything about those days with him and their friends Kitty and Cameron fills her with longing. When their former Professor leaves them his rambling mansion in his will, it's a chance for them to reunite. But there's more than friendship bubbling beneath the surface.
As secrets are revealed and relationships rekindled, the stories get dirtier and the stakes get higher. And now Allie's realized that she isn't quite sure who she wants…fun-loving Wade, or quiet, restrained Cameron. Neither have been honest about their feelings, and now they have the chance to act on all of the tales that ignite their most primal desires.
Excerpt:
“But anyway. Back to the sex--ghosts,” Wade says abruptly, as though maybe he spottedthe glittering coolbeneath Cameron’s steady stare too.Sadly, this only puts me in the spotlight again. I feel like a Vegas stripper, only without the feathers. Or spangly nipple--covers. Or skin.“I really have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about.”“Your stories were always like that, Allie,”Kitty says, because she’s a goddamned traitor. “But it’s OK, ’cause mine were too.”OK, maybe not a traitor, exactly. Maybe more like a really evil partner in crime who drags you down with her, into disaster. In all my many dreams of how this reunionwould end up going—-minor explosions, someone killing someone else, nervous breakdowns—-none of this ever featured in even the tiniest, remotest sense. I didn’t even imagine myself ending up in bed with Wade, really, because whenever I let myself want somethingit almost never happens.DidI dothe opposite of wantingthis chat about sex stories?“Yeah, alsoguilty,” Wade says, and I rack my brain trying to think of where they crammed all this boiling lust into tales about being a pig who could fly (Kitty) and a cyborg from the future (Wade).Maybethe pigs and the cyborgs had a lot of sex I just don’t know about.“It’s OK, Cam, you don’t have to put your hand up for this one,” Wade adds, and my brain automatically makes an odd little dinging noise. As though it’s decided to tally up all the littledigs Wade’s going to get in about Cameron, for no apparentreason. “Everyone knows that you’renot a part of our dirty pervertsclub.”Seriously. Were they like this before?Because that last part seems even meaner than the first bit, as though Wade would like nothing better than to slice Cameron right out of our group forever, for some end I can’t quite see.I can’t see it so much that I’m compelled to say somethingin too big and too funny a voice,as though I can just smooth everything over by being ridiculous.“Hey, how do you know he’s not a dirty pervert? You seem really perverted to me, Cam, I swear.”By being really ridiculous. Because in truth, there isn’t a person on earth who seems less sexual than Cameron. I’m sure MotherTeresa was more adventurous with her lovers than Cameron is with his. In fact, now that I’m thinking about it…I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen him with someone Icould loosely term a “lover.”Heprobably has constant, epic sex with therobot girl he’s built.Annnnddd…now I feel mean. Especially when he then says: “Thank you, Allie. Your faith in my perverted--ness is very…welcomed.”He actually does seem heartened too. When I look at him he’s gettingreally close to smilingin this strange, almost--definitely--drunk way, and after a couple of long, weird moments have tickedby Ifind my mind rolling back and back to that word he used.Welcomed. And the pause he had before it, as though he had a couple of other contenders before he settled on something so mundane.Though for the life of me, I can’t think what other word he couldhave slotted in there. What replaces welcomed, easily? Pleased?Sweet?Andthen my brain throws up arousinglike an insane hiccup, and I move alongquickly.
“OK, so, maybe I liked to occasionally write about sex--ghosts,” I say, but it comes out less funny and more wounded than I intend. And Wade spots it, which is weird because he never used to. He neverused to know when I’d taken a mortal hit and was down for the count.“Hey, what’s the big deal?” he says, and there’sthis creamy, smooth note of conciliation in his voice that sounds weird. Weird, but not exactly unwelcome. “We’re all grown up now. We can be perverts if we want to be.”“I didn’t care about being a pervert before, quitefrankly,” Kitty says.Of course, my mind flicks to her bonking the living daylightsout of Martin Carruthers in the bed next to mine, in our tiny dorm room. ThoughI’ll admit, my mind sometimesgoes to her bonking the living daylightsout of Martin Carruthers when I’m busy plungingthe toilet or waiting for a kettle to boil, so it’s no realcommentary on the things we’retalking about now.“So where are the stories, Kit? The dirty stories, about something other than magic balloons that get lost?” Wadeasks, and Kitty heys! Then tries to hurl a cushionat him and fails, miserably.“I wrote loads more than kids stories, you doof. I wrote fabuloustales of rip--roaring sexual adventures thelikes of whichthe world has never seen.”Ican well believeher. One of her postcards just had the word “five--way” on it in big letters.
Is five--way evena word? I’m not sure and largelyfelt too afraid to ask.

Interview with Angela McGurk
Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I’m a dreamer, reader, writer, watcher, designer and that really makes books an ideal ‘career’ for me as I can write, design book covers, and dream a thousand worlds and a thousand characters. As well as writing I run my own wedding stationery and graphic design business and my husband is a photographer (my cover photography is his work), we mesh nicely!
What inspired me to write in this genre? That’s quite a tough question because I’ve written in this genre since my early teens so I can’t really remember why. I’d say Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a lot to do with it and the mythology behind some of the ‘Vampire Alliance’ series comes from a story I first came up with when I was thirteen or fourteen and a huge Buffy fan. It is the background mythology, the story that will become a prequel set in ancient Rome, which developed all those years ago and stayed with me. That helped me develop my ‘world’ for my (predominantly) modern day series.
What is it about the paranormal, in particular vampires, that fascinates you so much?
I suppose immortality is a fascinating concept; the idea of permanent youth, having to adapt to changing centuries and changing societies, it offers a unique set of problems to explore. Plus, and maybe more intriguingly, vampire stories allow us to explore the darker side of human nature in safety. There’s seduction and murder, questionable morality, a range of dilemmas we’d never want to face in real life but are curious about in fiction. Vampires also provide an author with the ultimate monster, the ultimate predator, so that lets us develop heroes as well and we can adventure through a fantastic world which shows us both the best and worst of people.
What inspired you to write this book?
Allegiance: The Vampire Alliance Book Two was written because there was so much more to the story and the world than I could fit into Absolution: The Vampire Alliance Book One. It develops that story, takes it to new levels, and explains more of ‘why’ the events of Absolution happened while also giving the main character a wider set of problems. The series as a whole, if I’m honest, was developed first and foremost because I’d read every vampire book in the paranormal romance and urban fantasy sections of my local bookshop. I needed a new story and wanted something gritty and local so I decided to write my own book. I quickly realized I had a story to tell, a story that incorporated a mythology I’d developed years ago. Then I realized that the story I wanted to tell needed more than one book to do it justice.
Please tell us about your latest release.
Allegiance follows a few months after Absolution ends, the vampire government are becoming ever more oppressive and Eve, the protagonist, once again finds the life she’s built crumbling at their hands. She’s left in a position where she’s mourning, fragile and still not completely aware of what’s going on around her. She has a lot to learn and a lot to overcome in Allegiance in order to become the person she has to be in Antithesis: The Vampire Alliance Book Three which will be released later in 2014.
Allegiance has a lot of darkness in it, but at its core it’s about loyalty, faith in those around you and being able to survive because of those bonds.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
Eve was named for the evening as I knew she’d ‘become’ a vampire. I know, how very corny. However, the more I write the more it suits her. There isn’t an intentional religious metaphor in the books but at times there almost seems to be. Eve tempts Rob and Tul to act in ways they previously would’ve considered to be forbidden, she offers forbidden fruit. Robert Blakethorn the Second was named for the time in which he was born, as the son of English landed gentry. Tulloch Sullivan was born in the same time period but was of Scots-Irish descent and a servant, so his name hints at both his ancestry and his status – it had to be a little less pretentious than Robert Blakethorn the Second.
Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
They were all challenging in the own way. I suppose Eve, the protagonist, was most challenging in that her behavior, driven as it is by grief and fear, is often questionable. It’s difficult to have a character behave questionably and write in a way which adequately explains why she’s doing it and why it’s the correct move. Her emotionless chapters were really difficult to write; writing in first person without the benefit of emotions is not a task I will ever endeavor to complete again.
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Again I have to say Eve because she does so many things you’d just never do in real life. She’s braver and stronger than me and I’ve lived vicariously through her. That said I also really enjoyed writing the boys, especially in the historical chapters. Their lives, what happened in the past, influences so much of what happens to Eve and her values that it was really interesting developing their characters and how they interact with each other.
Do you have a formula for developing characters? Like do you create a character sketch or list of attributes before you start writing or do you just let the character develop as you write?
I didn’t have a formula or list of attributes but I knew I wanted Eve to be a walking contradiction until she found her confidence, her strength, her ‘self’. She had to be used, abused and world weary while retaining naivety. She had to be incredibly strong while also being afraid and breakable.
Tul had to be unerringly loyal. He’s really the backbone of the trio. He’s Eve’s strength, and for most of their lives he was Rob’s strength. He needed to be that character so that when his loyalties finally came into question it would create an interesting dynamic.
Rob had to embody a few different characteristics over the course of book one and two, going from self-entitled gentleman, to broken man, to cold a merciless drone.
Basically I knew what the story needed, developed a list of basic characteristic in my head as starting points and then let the characters grow organically in their roles. In this case that seemed to work.
What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
That’s another tough one as I like a lot of scenes from Allegiance. It’s my favourite book in the series, I love the way the characters interact more in Allegiance than in Absolution and truthfully I don’t think I’ll love Antithesis until it’s re-drafted. So, a favourite scene… My favourite would be too much of a spoiler I think, so perhaps my second favourite is a better choice. This is from chapter five:
Upton looks bored, picking at his fingernails without so much as acknowledging my arrival. Is his unconcerned appearance an act or had Donal lied? Is this another waste of my time just like when I’d gone to Upton with my bribe? But no, there’s Tul on his knees in front of a line of Enforcers. They won’t have brought him out here unless they’re willing to trade, right? 1352 stands at attention just behind him, features expressionless and eyes devoid of emotion. There’s so much wrong with the picture they paint. I’ve read Rob’s diary so I know what he and Tul should mean to each other. I suppose this picture is just further proof that 1352 is not Rob, not in any way that matters.Slate blue eyes meet mine as I climb down from the Range Rover, comprehension dawning through a fog of pain and starvation. I can see the denial in Tul’s expression as he asks softly, uncertainly, his voice heart-wrenchingly weak, “What are you doing?”I can’t bring myself to answer when I know any reply will cause a dispute. I just need to do this, to know he’s safe. “You agree with the trade?” I ask Upton, turning from Tul so I can’t see the denial in his expression even though I can feel it in his emotions.“Evie, no, don’t.” I hear Tul but I wish he wouldn’t implore me to stop. He is not the first to make such a plea. Does he really think he’ll have a greater chance of stopping me than Rob had when I offered to take his place?“You never understood it, did you?” I ask him softly and surprisingly without accusation. “Despite any evidence to the contrary I do love you just as much as I loved him. Everything I would have sacrificed to save him I’ll willingly sacrifice for you.”“You don’t need to do this to prove you love me,” he tells me urgently.Inexplicably under the circumstances his answer irritates me more than Donal’s snort of mocking laughter. “Don’t you do that Tulloch Sullivan, don’t you try and make this about me trying to prove something. I shouldn’t have to prove it. You can feel what I feel even if you don’t believe it. I’m trying to save your life, nothing more than that, because you are the only thing that matters to me.”
Did you find anything really interesting while researching this or another book?
Honestly I think the World War One history in book one was the most interesting thing to research. Trench life and the battles the soldiers were required to fight in were horrific, the loss of life was horrific. I had to research a number of battles for the book and it was fascinating at the same time as being very emotive.
How does this world differ from our normal world?
The vampires have their own government and their society runs alongside but separate to the human world. They have their own politicians, their own laws, even their own police who are called ‘Enforcers’. While humans in Britain live in a democracy, the vampires are oppressed by the dictatorship which has ruled since World War Two.
The struggle for freedom in the vampire world is the core ‘problem’ in the series. The Senate, the ruling (and only) political party in the vampire system is responsible for most of the heartbreak Eve faces, even as a human, because she became part of the vampire world when she married Rob who was, at the time, a ‘Chief’. Chiefs are local government officials in the Senate.
Rather than opposition parties those who oppose the Senate have formed rebel gangs, groups of freedom fighters who rely on sympathetic parties and businesses to fund their anti-government activities. Some of the allegiances and business are questionable, such as drugs rings and brothels, but the aim of the gangs generally is to change the regime because there are no opposition parties. Some gangs would change the world for the better, some wouldn’t offer much improvement and some are open to Senate bribes.
The vampire underworld is quite dystopian in some way, there’s a civil war going on, yet it’s all hidden behind the human world.
With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs, that readers jumping in somewhere other than the first book, need to be aware of? Can these books be read as stand alones?
The books can’t be read as stand alones, The Vampire Alliance series isn’t like many paranormal romance books where the focus switches between books or characters change. The series as a whole is a story in its own right, like Lord of The Rings, if you jump into book two you are going to skip a lot of important explanation and developments. The history in book one is hugely important to what happens in book two.
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
I wouldn’t want to do any of what Eve does, but her strength, her determination, is what I would like to possess. She is, in some ways, my ideal version of myself but she isn’t me as such. Or perhaps it’s fair to say she’s an exaggeration of me, good and bad is exaggerated to the extremes. I think it’s hard, as a writer, not to include aspects of yourself in your characters because you’re creating them.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
Oh, goodness, yes! But in the case of the Vampire Alliance series I’ve always just pushed on through it. I’m taking a short break before I re-draft Antithesis but then I’ll have to push on through that too. Presently I’m trying to write something else to give myself a little Eve-free break but I have so many ideas I just can’t pick on to run with. I suspect I’ll get Antithesis done and then I’ll just have to pick a one and force myself to focus.
Do you write in different genres?
I do, although none of them have been published. I do dabble in historic fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. I’m focusing on paranormal romance and urban fantasy because it’s my favourite but I have ideas and first drafts written for far more than that.
Do you find it difficult to write in multiple genres?
No, not really. However, I also read different genres so my experience is wide and I enjoy a lot of genres. I read historical autobiographies for fun, so research isn’t an issue either. Coming from a family of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings geeks also feeds my love of sci-fi and fantasy.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. Writing is a huge part of my life, of how I cope with life, and of me. As for considering myself an ‘author’ that’s a different matter. Part of me wants to consider myself an ‘author’ because I’ve sold books, because there are people on the other side of the world who’ve bought, read and enjoyed my writing. However, because I’m pretty much unknown and this series is my debut I don’t really think of myself as an author yet. Maybe it just sounds too pretentious to proclaim myself an author, I don’t know.
Other than writing, what are some of your interests, hobbies or passions in life?
Reading, I think that’s a must for a writer. I also love camping and kayaking (gentle kayaking, not the whitewater stuff – I’m not that brave). I do also love drawing and painting but I honestly don’t have time for it at the moment, not with a business to run, books to write and a toddler and a baby to chase!
What was the last amazing book you read?
Biting Cold by Chloe Neill, I love the Chicagoland Vampire series. I was trying to re-read them all before the Wild Things UK release date which, incidentally, is today as of two minutes ago (I’m writing this on 20th Feb at 00:02). Hopefully my answer to this will soon change to Wild Things by Chloe Neill! I need to get my Methan fix as soon as possible.
Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a cozy corner or special reading spot?
Anywhere. I pretty much zone out when I’m reading, the result is that I can read just about anywhere and I’m happy as long as I have a world to immerse myself in.
What can readers expect next from you?
Antithesis: The Vampire Alliance Book Three which will be released later in 2014. It’s the end of this story arc and after Antithesis I’m not really sure if I’ll be doing sequels, prequels, spin offs or something entirely new as I have plans for all of the above.

Would you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?
My stunning green satin dress is torn and blood coats the bottom of my skirts where I’ve waded through the gore of a battlefield. My sword is only loosely grasped in my hand, its tip trailing along the ground as I no longer have the will to hold it up. My hair is wispy, coming loose from the pins and twists which Vanessa Rosa and Sophie-Jayne had so painstakingly plaited into it earlier. The beads and jewels from my curled tresses are falling out around me and cracking in the heat, but I don’t care. The flowers that had decorated the pews have burned away and the soot from the blaze which destroyed them smears my cheeks where once there had been blusher. My mascara hasn’t run yet and my eye shadow is still in place because I can’t let myself cry. If I begin to weep I will never be able to stop again. I will weep and weep and my bloody tears will flood the Earth in some twisted corruption of a biblical punishment wrought by a vengeful god. Flames are still licking up the pews but I cannot feel their heat. I can’t feel anything over the ache in my chest, the suffocating pressure constricting my throat as I make my way back down the aisle. I step over bodies, both friend and enemy, as the train of the dress Tulloch had dreamed for me soaks up yet more gruesome evidence of what has taken place. So many have died today and I wish I’d died with them. Why does this heart still beat its slow percussion in my chest? Why does this brain still plague me with memories of what had gone before and dreams which will never come to pass? Why does the blood in my veins still move from organ to organ and back again when I long for it to stop, when I long for it to coagulate and turn black? I wish for the world to fade and my body to decay. I want this pain to end but it won’t, just like it hadn’t last time.I find what I’m looking for at the top of the aisle, a scrap of paper now scorched and tattered round the edges. Blood has dripped and sprayed over the document and it’s only through luck that the grotesque blots haven’t obscured our names and signatures; Eve Blakethorn and Tulloch Sullivan, the scrawls that make us man and wife. I hadn’t wanted to go through another wedding.I hadn’t wanted to curse another good man.I hadn’t wanted to feel this all consuming grief again. And this time they haven’t even given me a few days of joy.

Book Description:
Eve hadn’t wanted a second marriage, she wanted to remain happily unmarried rather than curse another good man to Rob’s fate. If only Tul had listened to her protestations. Instead the Senate are intent on making her relive her own personal hell. Worse, the instrument they seem intent on using to bring about her suffering is the creature, the merciless drone they’d created from all that remained of Rob.
The world seems to be conspiring against Eve and the Alliance, and even among Johan’s band of rebels not everyone is happy to have Eve as part of the group. With Tul missing and friends few on the ground, Eve begins to slip back into the pit of despair which had once consumed her and that may just lead her to behave more recklessly than ever before. Mistakes have consequences however, and for Eve the consequences of her actions may just decide the course of the future.
Is there a way to save Tul? Does anything of Rob remain in the Senate controlled puppet his body’s become? More importantly, why are the Senate determined to take control of Eve and just how far will they go to gain possession of her?

After Kayson fell from heaven, his life got complicated. His greatest enemies, the hell hounds, thrived on Earth and hunted not only the fallen but the blood children created by their Master. After being chased and confronted by one of those very creatures, Kayson’s life becomes even more complicated. He never expected to be rescued by a vampire named Sabrina. He also never expected to become her protector after she falls prey to a hell hound’s deadly bite.
Falon, head of the hell hounds, has been desperately trying to hunt down Kayson and Sabrina but with the rain steadily falling—due to interference by the lower-realm Angels, also known as the assemblies—Falon grows irritated. His only option is to threaten those that may know where the fallen can be found. With the threat of the hounds finding Kayson and the other fallen, Kayson is running out of time. Stille, once a respected Warrior in the assemblies, is pushing Kayson to leave an unconscious Sabrina behind. After all Sabrina has done for him, Kayson refuses to abandon her. But will his decision leave his friends vulnerable to attack?
Sabrina is conscious enough to sense the struggles that Kayson is facing. If he knew the torture she’s been going through, she knows he would suffer even more. Sabrina silently fights the darkness that is seeping into her dreams, while struggling to stay strong for Kayson. But when the pain becomes too much, Sabrina has to make a choice that may cost not only her life, but the lives of others as well.

Sophie Avett’s Sinister Stitches Character Dress Fitting Interview, Guest-Starring Jennifer Blackstream’s Loupe from Before Midnight
My characters are either naked or dressed to kill. Given they’re all monsters stalking the city of New Gotham’s twisted, cracked, and cobbled streets, the criminal wardrobe is part of the job description. Rockabilly princesses, corpse brides, leather queens…my city is full of them. Where do they get their menacing threads?
There is boutique hiding out between the fractured, narrow store-fronts lining the foggy docks. The shingles are ribbed and black. Washed, peeling paint and displays offering views into wicked leather and lace studded glam. The mannequins are ghoulish beauties stitched together from whatever was left from the last fool to cross one of the sinister witches.
Push open its shabby, frosted front door. Tiny white flakes of paint will pepper the wind like spectral dust. The minute you set heel onto waxy polished oak floors and step into the candelabra fire-light you know…
This is where the magic happens.
Welcome to Sinister Stitches “…apparel for a wicked fairy tale.”
A spicy trinity of black magic sisters breathe star-dusted dreams to life with their gothic apparel boutique. They are schooled in the old ways of “fabric-bending” by the Needlewitches of old. With this knowledge, they’ve created an entire line of clothing that all share the same basic design element: one-size fits all. Each garment will magically tailor itself to its wearer once worn. There may might be some “twirling” required, but a vampire’s steady hand should turn every wardrobe change into a stolen moment.
Care to take a peek at what the Sinister Stitches has to offer?
Check out some of the questionnaire Jennifer Blackstream’s Loupe from Before Midnight was asked to fill out after she wandered into Sinister Stitches.
THE WITCHES WHO STITCH QUESTIONNAIRE

What is the occasion? (Ideas include: Wedding, Funeral, Sabbath, etc. Oh, and seduction is a valid occasion. The more details, the better.)
Family gathering. I’ll be meeting the werewolf cousins, aunts, and uncles. It’s important to look regal enough to command the respect of being a member of the royal family, but strong enough that the beasts recognize their alpha.
What’s the occasion setting? (Beach, haunted castle, grand ball, etc.)
The main dining hall. Possibly the forest on the palace grounds if all goes well…or horribly, horribly wrong.
Will you be running for your life at some point in the evening?(Helps with shoe selection.)
No. If there’s any running to do, it will be in the direction of my prey.
Will you be set on fire? Better yet, will you be setting other people on fire?
No. Will you be grave-robbing? (Dirt is a dressmaker’s tedium.)
No. Grave-digging, perhaps.
Is your neck a dinner plate?
No. Just an appetizer.
Do you hope to be naked at some point in the evening? (All right, dirty birds. Such questions are actually intended toward the weres and shifters in regards to their transformations.)
Yes. If all goes well, we will be running in wolf form. I want my in-laws to meet my adopted pups.
Describe your last brush with Death in two sentences. (Helps us plan for the unexpected.)
Attacked while in wolf form by stepfamily with spears. I ate her.
Do you need a secret compartment for weapons, wands, tampons, etc.?
No. My weapons are body parts and they’ll be front and center should they become necessary.
What are your three favorite colors?
Silver, blue, green.
What two colors rattle your kettle?
Red and orange.
Please pick a style that you feel embodies you the best. If none apply, feel free to surprise us by providing your own brilliant description in the “other” slot.
[ ]Rockabilly Starlet: This is for the spoonfuls of sugar. The good-natured and naughty girl next door types. Candy is the business and fairy tales are ultimate. More often than not, her head is in the clouds and her nose in the book. Our dreamers.
[ ]Leather Queen: This is for the warrior princesses. The type of girls who give boys a run for their money and wear tight jeans just watch the little vampires come undone. Hands for fighting and these heels for ass-kickings. Our protectors.
[ ]Medieval Mistress: This is for the no-nonsense girls. The ones who know better because they’re ten steps ahead. They’re schemers—they might be shy, or they might not be. More importantly, they’re selective. Our wisdom.
[X]Gothic Dame: This for the mysteries. The ones no one can quite make heads or tails out off. She’s a mixture, a melting pot of sugar and sinister. She might be Rockabilly Starlet one day, or a Medieval Mistress other days. Our sisters.

Sinister Stitches’ Gothic Da me,
Madame Mari presents Loupe’s Completed Dress
“New Moon”
Spanish Jasmine, spectral and Bayou willow leaves circle the slender figure shrouded in the midst. Twin viceroy swallowtail wings stretch high over her back and sweeping evergreen evening frock spun from clover and cannabis pales in comparison to the sheer utter majesty of true court:
Evenin’ suga, I’m Madame Mari and I’m the damn fine pair of wings that owns this establishment. I also happen to be Sinister Stitches reigning Gothic Dame. My girls couldn’t figure out what to do with your color request, so damn it all, I put them all into this gorgeous archaic evening gown. It’s lined with several soft aqua sheer petticoats and the over-dress is made out of the bottom layer of hydra scales. (You can thank my girl, Brenda, for that.) The scales refract the moonlight and are dirt resistant.
You can toss off your clothes and run it in nutty pants. And it’ll be waiting for you like a pristine beacon. Speaking of beacon, a will o’ wisp was capture, killed and grinded into shimmer---each granule was painstakingly sewn onto the garment by our pixies. Call your dress by name (“New Moon”) and it should find its way to you in a matter of seconds.
Lastly, my daughter, Gillian, (with Astrid’s guidance and firm “no gumdrops” hand”) helped an old fey with the creation of your head dress. The gold Roman corona is fit for a Pack Princess. It’s high over the ears and will shrink to match a canine skull upon transformation—and the make-up should settle over your eyes upon donning. It stays upon transformation too, so NO scratching. (I’m serious. I’ll whack that sweet apple bottom with a newspaper if need be—but there will be NO scratching!)
Now, put on your best plum stardusted cloak and don’t bother with shoes or knickers--they’ll just get in way of running naked through the moonlight.
…

Book Description:
Remember the story about the troll who lived under the bridge—yes, well, that twit didn't have to pay rent.
Owner and operator of Bits and Pieces, and resident expert on charms and glamours, Elsa Karr is a witch with a sour frown and a list of things to do as long as Thor’s hammer. Top of the list is saving her father's shop from ruin. If she isn't trying to claw her way out of debt, she's arguing with her cat, Fenris, or shoveling carts of cake into her gob. She's not interested in romance or the vampire who rents the flat above her shop. All she wants is a little peace and chocolate--fine, all right! All right! The vampire is kind of screw all cute. (Curse him.)
The disgraced son and heir of the Wingates House vampire clan and a mad-man to boot, Marshall Ansley spends most of his time working and dodging his mother's phone calls. Marshall is beyond family. He's beyond everyone, actually. Don’t be daft, he especially doesn't do…Christmas. But behold, the plague brings an original flavor of annoyance this year when his boss tasks him with acquiring the account of a recluse fey and her upcoming Gothic clothing boutique, Sinister Stitches. That is the ONLY reason he's bothering with his shrewish landlord. No, that's it. No…really. Fine, if you insist, the witch might be a tad bit...all right, she's adorable. (Damn her.)
Scrooge meets Scrooge. Dominant meets Dominant. Tempers…spark. In each other, they may unfold a tale that only comes to pass on the darkest of nights.
About the Author:
Sophie Avett is kind of a nerd. Like not even one of the cute, hip ones everyone brags about nowadays. More like the socially awkward hippie who eats way too much bread and dreams about being a dragon from behind towers of mythology books. Um...yeah. Picture old, tattered paperbacks and comic books--mostly Batman and Wonder Woman--dwarfing a tiny desk, with just barely enough room for the troll who writes there and the 70 pound hell-hound that insists of laying it's wet nose on top of her bare foot.
Granted not the most exciting existence, but she tries to make up for it by writing romances populated with her own peculiar ilk of paranormal beasties. Trolls, wyverns, the obscure Nordic brownie--she likes to keep things interesting. And bloody. (And mostly naked--but, we'll keep that bit between us.)
Sophie Avett loves to hear from her readers. (Hi, mom.) So if there's something on your mind, feel free to leave a message after the scream.

Bewitching Book Tours : Secrets and Lies By Christine Amsden
Cassie Scot Playlist
It's worth noting that I do not listen to the same songs for every novel project. I do have some general favorites, but some songs call to me when I'm working on a specific story. While I wrote the Cassie Scot series, I was most likely to listen to:
1. “Witchy Woman” by the Eagles – In fact, I often got into the mood by listening to this song. I sort of see this as Cassie's theme song. She's not a witch, but she wants to be, and to me this song just sort of reminded me of her deepest desires.
2. “You Don't Own Me” (mostly the Bette Middler version, but sometimes the Lesley Gore one) – This song actually gets named in the third book, when I was particularly likely to listen to it.
3. “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston – This song is highly thematic.
4. “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler – This is Evan's theme song. I love this one, it's one of those songs that makes me stop working for a few minutes while I belt out the lyrics into a pretend microphone and dance around the room. (Er, when no one is home. :) )
5. “I Can't Stand to Fly” by Five for Fighting – This one also made me think of Evan a bit. But mostly, I'm just in love with the idea of Superman, dark hero or man of steel.
6. “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers – This is an all-time favorite that appears on most of my lists. It's just so... true!
7. “Fame” by Irene Cara – This is my own conceit and secret fantasy. It also appears on a lot of song lists. :)
8. “Live Like You're Dying” by Tim McGraw – I'm not sure what drew me to this song so much while I worked on Cassie, but maybe it's just so bittersweet and makes me think that in some ways, this is what it takes to be the heroine of your own story.
9. “Desperado” by the Eagles – Yes, another Eagles song. This one was most applicable in Secrets and Lies, the second of the four books (and the one I'm promoting now). “Let somebody love you...” Cassie's young and hurt during this book, and she really could use this advice.
10. “Go Diego Go!” (theme song) – And finally, it is worth noting that I have two young children who were, during the years when I wrote this series, very much into preschool TV shows. Sometimes the only way I could find an hour to write was to let them watch while I worked, and instead of turning on my own music I'd listen to the theme song to whatever show they were watching. Other songs I couldn't get out of my head while writing this series include “What's going to work? Teamwork!” (Wonderpets) and “Are you curious?” (Curious George). My kid are getting older now, so I don't have to hear these as often. At the moment the song I can't get out of my head is, “Transformers! More than meets the eye! Transformers! Robots in disguise!”

About the Author:Christine Amsden has been writing fantasy and science fiction for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories. Speculative fiction is fun, magical, and imaginative but great speculative fiction is about real people defining themselves through extraordinary situations. Christine writes primarily about people and relationships, and it is in this way that she strives to make science fiction and fantasy meaningful for everyone.
At the age of 16, Christine was diagnosed with Stargardt’s Disease, a condition that effects the retina and causes a loss of central vision. She is now legally blind, but has not let this slow her down or get in the way of her dreams.
In addition to writing, Christine teaches workshops on writing at Savvy Authors. She also does some freelance editing work.
Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success. They have two beautiful children.

Sophie Avett’s Sinister Stitches Dress Fitting Interview Guest-Starring Rebekah Ganiere’s Evaine from Dead Awakenings
Sophie Avett’s Sinister Stitches Dress Fitting Interview, guest-starring Rebekah Ganiere’s Evaine from Dead Awakenings
There is a boutique hiding out between the fractured, narrow store-fronts lining the foggy docks.
Check out some of the questionnaire Rebekah Ganiere’s Evaine Michael’s from Dead Awakenings was asked to fill out after she wandered into Sinister Stitches.
THE WITCHES WHO STITCH QUESTIONNARE
Please provide the witches with your name: Evaine Michaels
Please provide the witches with the following:
Hair Color: WhiteHair Length: [ ] Short and Sassy, [ ] Medium and Modern, [X] Lush and LongEye Color: Ice Blue, but when I get angry or passionate they turn orange like flamesSkin Tone: [ ] Ghoulish, [ ] Snow White, [ ] Cina-baby, [ ] Mochalicious, [ ] Dark Chocolate, [ ] Other: Pale white, bloodless_
Please provide the witches with your measurements and body-type.
a.) Height: 5’4”
b.) Body Type: [ ] Skeletal, [X] Lean and Tender, [ ] Lean and Tough, [ ] Ripe and Edible
Do you have any extra extremities? Place an “X” to all that apply.
[ ] Horns or [ ] Halo [ ] 20 ft. of Hair or More [ ] Gills and Fins or [ ] Hooves[ ] Wings (Span: ) [ ] Tail (How many: )
How many heads do you have?
One and I hope to keep it.
Do you have arms and legs? If so, how many?
2 arms, 2 legs thank heavens. A missing limb would be fatal to my kind.
How dead are you? [ ] Living, [X] Undead, [ ] Astral Form
What are you? (Species/Breed)
Deader* (*Reanimated Undead)
What is the occasion? (Ideas include: Wedding, Funeral, Sabbath, etc. Oh, and seduction is a valid occasion. The more details, the better.)
Going to the opera. Because I'm a Deader, when I go out I have to wear makeup, a wig and contacts. I don't like having to put make up on my arms. It is going to be a night in New York and though I don't get cold, it would probably look strange for me to be wearing something sleeveless in November.
What’s the occasion setting? (Beach, haunted castle, grand ball, etc.)
A New York Opera House. Luca doesn't really want to go, but he's a trooper and knows how much the theater means to me, so he got us tickets.
Will you be running for your life at some point in the evening?(Helps with shoe selection.)
I never know, but since the scientists I escaped from are still out there, there is always a possibility. I hope not though. It would be nice to be able to get out for once without the threat of kidnapping.
Will you be set on fire? Better yet, will you be setting other people on fire?
I sure hope not because trying to recover from injury isn't a pretty for a Deader.
Will you be grave-robbing? (Dirt is a dressmaker’s tedium.)
Probably not. At least I haven't had to yet.
Is your neck a dinner plate?
No. But if something happens, my dinner could include any part of the internal organs. I sure hope that doesn't happen though. I'm not a pretty eater.
Do you hope to be naked at some point in the evening? (All right, dirty birds. Such questions are actually intended toward the weres and shifters in regards to their transformations.)
If I'm lucky it will be with Luca.
Describe your last brush with Death in two sentences. (Helps us plan for the unexpected.)
Kidnapped by zombies who wanted to cut me into pieces and eat me then let me heal and do it again. I ended up fighting for my life and being rescued.
Do you need a secret compartment for weapons, wands, tampons, etc.?
Nope. My metal powers are all that I need. However it would be nice if I didn't have to carry a purse full of make up for touch ups.
What are your three favorite colors?
Purple, ice blue, red.
What two colors rattle your kettle?
That's hard because orange, yellow and brown are all right up there.
Please pick a style that you feel embodies you the best. If none apply, feel free to surprise us by providing your own brilliant description in the “other” slot.
[ ] Rockabilly Starlet: This is for the spoonfuls of sugar. The good-natured and naughty girl next door types. Candy is the business and fairy tales are ultimate. More often than not, her head is in the clouds and her nose in the book. Our dreamers.
[ ] Leather Queen: This is for the warrior princesses. The type of girls who give boys a run for their money and wear tight jeans just watch the little vampires come undone. Hands for fighting and these heels for ass-kickings. Our protectors.
[ ] Medieval Mistress: This is for the no-nonsense girls. The ones who know better because they’re ten steps ahead. They’re schemers—they might be shy, or they might not be. More importantly, they’re selective. Our wisdom.
[X] Gothic Dame: This for the mysteries. The ones no one can quite make heads or tails out off. She’s a mixture, a melting pot of sugar and sinister. She might be Rockabilly Starlet one day, or a Medieval Mistress other days. Our sisters.
[ ] Other: _____________________
Who is your favorite fairy tale villain?
Elpheba from Wicked
If you could be any fairy tale princess, who would it be?
Elsa from Disney’s Frozen. All my life I've been good. It wasn't till I became a Deader that I found out who I truly was and now am stronger for it.
Now, tell us the twit you hate most.
I don't really hate anyone. It isn't in my personality. But I do feel bad for the early fairytale princesses. They were all weak and gentle and never learned to be kick ass and strong in their own right.
Anything else you’d like to add…
I'm not a vampire. I'm a Deader.
After many barrels of chocolate, a dash of magic and furious sewing… Sinister Stitches’ Gothic Dame, Madame Mari presents Evaine’s Completed Dress “Starlight”
Spectral viceroy swallowtail wings fan at her back as Madame Mari sweeps into the room clad in a velvet black sun-dress with crystal blood polka-droplets:
Evenin’ wicked ones...
Madame Mari’s the name and stitchin’s the game, honeybunches.
Welcome to my little shop of sissorhands. Let’s get with it, shall we? Ya’ll note that this piece of damn fine two-piece suit is made from Avalon midnight scarlet satin imported straight from the Veil.
A mild dive and fat velvet lapels frame the double-breasted vest. It’s been lined with a sheer ghost chainmail—a silver bullet and anything else moving that fast (or faster) will past straight through this sucker. A blade will simply slide right through. Tonight, you’re the ghost of the woman in red. Tonight, you’re gonna mysterious and untouchable—‘cause this momma says so.
The plum sash was spun from pixie wings and spider hair. It’s barely there—almost like a neverwinter snowflake melting against your fingertips—but who gives a whit? It’s warm.
The thick folds of the collar hide a small compartment beneath the sleeves for make-up, but you won’t need it, honeybunches. Part of the enchantment provides an appearance glamour thanks to my youngest, Astrid. That’s right, babycakes. These threads are fully-loaded with a and hexed with a glamour purchased from our dear friend, Elsa the Troll’s fabulous Bits and Pieces.
Brenda, my little rebel, made sure to give the dress a spectre dust coating. When I asked about her, that little runt had the nerve to sass her momma and say: “It’ll do if all hell breaks loose.”
Speaking of my
Sometimes, a girl only needs one.
(Hell, I NEED one.)
Now, go on, suga...and don’t worry your pretty little self about finding your happy ending---the strong ones earn it.
