Excerpt 2:I spun, my tail knocking people across the room to snarl at my father. My wing descended to protect Evanora. There was no way anyone was taking her, they’d have to go through me first. I crouched low to pounce. Andreas studied my reaction to the threat, his eyes widening at all the revelations today.Evanora squirmed from under my wing and stood in front of me, her hand on my chest. “I think I can handle this.” She prowled in front of me like a threatened tigress protecting her mate.She snapped her fingers, and the elders levitated above the stage. Her right arm flung high in the air, and the emerald guards flew across the room by an invisible wind that herded them all in the corner beside Ruben.Several of them tried to run, but the golden dragons cut off their escape route. A few emerald guards transformed into their dragons. Ruben leapt on one, his talons tearing through its protective scales as if they were nothing more than fine silk. His teeth tore the throat out of another.A green dragon launched itself towards Evanora, and I pounced on it. My talons eviscerated it, his flesh steaming from the toxin Evanora had infused there to fight against the krakens. I’d never killed another Gaian—until recently I would have believed it was blasphemy—yet I never gave it a second thought because he had attacked my mate.Ruben advanced on the others with murder in his amber gaze. They had attacked his mate, and I had no doubt every single emerald guard would suffer the force of his wrath for their actions. Panicked energy filled the air, and screams followed as more dragons emerged to try and fly to the doors at the top of the staircase. The coward was searching for somewhere to escape to. He tried to lift his foot, but he seemed to be stuck where he stood. Apparently, he could only be brave if he had his women helpless due to a dragon suppressing collar.Sensing the situation was under control, I returned to my human form. Ruben appeared at my side. He snapped his fingers, and we were both clothed in black.With each flick of her wrist, lashes appeared on Cyrus’ body until he fell to his knees, his clothes in tatters. Evanora rubbed her hands together in a circular motion. His skin began to melt and peel down his body like a candle under the intensity of her stare.“Even as you forgot them, I remember every one of their names, every terrified young girl you tried to impregnate with your evil spawn. Cyrus of the green dragons, I curse you from this day hence. You shall not rest in the afterlife but spend eternity in the realms of purgatory to experience the pain and suffering you have caused to others. Their agony will be yours, your body violated with their rapes, their torment only yours to bear.”A BOOM shook the chamber, forming a crack across the ceiling. Wails sounded all around us before a black shimmering vortex appeared behind Cyrus. Shadow hands grasped his limbs and dragged him screaming into the darkness.Stunned silence filled the room. Ruben’s hand grasped my arm, his eyes wide in alarm at what we’d just witnessed.Evanora dusted her hands off and placed them on her hips. “Now what should I do with the elders who sanction rape, torture, and murder?”Fuck that I was annoyed with her. I’d never seen anything more magnificent than Evanora go on a murderous spree. Her hair had a life of its own, moving around her as magic coursed through her. She took beauty into a different league.I wanted her more now than ever before. She no longer looked frail and ready to break; her curves were accentuated in the deep purple gown that hugged every inch of her. When she released her magic, I swore I could see dark writing under her pale skin.Evanora clicked her fingers, and the elders dropped to the ground, scrambling to get back on their feet. She chanted words from an ancient language that I didn’t understand. Energy pulsed towards the stage from the four directions of the wind, which Evanora summoned.“Your dragons are bound inside you, unable to be released until the day you prove yourselves worthy to be a Gaian once more. You are nothing more than human, trapped in a realm that you can no longer leave,” she said. Her voice sounded remote and devoid of emotion.Magic manifested in the air in a green mist. It twisted and swirled around the elders, stripping away their elder marks from their wrists. Evanora stalked through them, examining every single one of them until she seemed happy that they were bound by her enchantment.“Next time you consider touching my mate, I would think again,” she hissed at them before strutting down from the stage. I’d never been more turned on in my life from her display of dominance.“It’s time to go home.” Evanora opened a portal, indicating that Ruben and Justus leave through it.My eyes met Andreas’. His eyes widened in surprise, and Trudy jumped up, grinning from ear to ear.“Let’s go, Mr. Young. They’re probably wondering what’s happened to us.” She was halfway out the door.Jason grabbed her hand before she could reach the hall and spun her around. His lips claimed hers before she could grasp what was happening. Trudy felt his hand on the small of her back molding her to him, while his other hand gently held her head. She felt a thrill like never before, and just as her knees started to give out, he released her.“Better hurry, Gertrude. Wouldn’t want anyone to think you were trying to take advantage of me in this here grand bedroom.” He smiled into her eyes, and once again she was lost. She shook her head to clear it and get some control of her senses.“We better go, or I’ll be taking advantage of you.” She laughed, and he did too. She loved the sound of it. She glanced over her shoulder. “I hope that damned camera of yours was turned off.”
As they headed out the door, Jason walking just behind her, he grimaced when he saw the red light on the camera on and grunted, “Oh, shit.”

Guest Blog with M.L. Mastran - Favorite Vampire and Werewolf Movies

Hello all! M.L. Mastran here; author of Albion Moon, the first in a series.  I would like to tell you a little about my book and how I got to where I’m at with it. So, real quick, here’s a bit about Albion Moon. Evaline's brother is missing. She's desperate to find out what happened to him. As she digs deeper into his disappearance, the mystery reveals an ancient family secret carried through the bloodline that began centuries ago in the Scottish Highlands. As this secret from the old world closes in on Evaline, she tries to sort through her disconcerting feelings towards the mysterious Mason. He not only seems to always know when she is in danger, but he is insistent on protecting her, no matter the cost.
Exciting eh? Well here’s more about how I got to writing about werewolves…..yes werewolves.  So, I’ve been reading and watching the paranormal/supernatural since I was young so I have always been enthralled with it. Vampires and werewolves are the most intriguing. I enjoy seeing how vampires have evolved and the different ways they are portrayed in both film and in books. Incidentally, I even have a top 10 favorite vampires in series and film below so check it out!  The same can be said for werewolves. Werewolves, unlike vampires, can be found in ancient mythologies which made it so much fun for me to pick at! J When I started Albion Moon I wanted my werewolves to be different. In using the hit series Charmed(the original one) formula, my characters are a family dealing with everyday things; bills, groceries, sibling squabbles, etc., oh yeah, they happen to be werewolves. Along comes my protagonist Evaline, who unbeknownst to her, is connected to the family. She of course finds more out as she trying to find out what happened to her brother. My favorite part of Albion Moon is the back story! I love History, hence my degree in it, but whatever I write, I usually have a history arc in it somehow. The backstory of Albion Moon was taken right out of the history books with the ancient Scottish Highlands. 
So I decided to add a supernatural twist to it….makes for good drama. So, for you romantics, enter Mason, one of the brothers in our family, who absolutely becomes captivated by Evaline. She definitely wasn’t looking for love but of course, as in life, it happens when we don’t expect it. I did want to explain a bit how my werewolves are in the book. Werewolves are sometimes portrayed as evil or it’s a curse.  There are of course exceptions; Teen Wolfand Twilight, but those aside, one of my biggest influences were the Underworldmovies.  Now, I really do appreciate the classics and nothing beats a great werewolf flick with popcorn and a fuzzy blanket on a cold night. I also have a top 10 favorite werewolves in film and series below.  J As for my werewolves, they are combinations of all we have seen.

The sensation of being incomplete, because I couldn’t find Jimmy, but the strong sense of danger I knew I was in left me with an uncertainty, and the pressure to protect what little family I had left at all costs weighed on me.Then there was Mason—my sense of safety and, strangely enough, power. He resembled something from a Lon Chaney flick.“This wouldn’t have had to happen if you would have just backed off to begin with. If you do not give us this supposed evidence you have, you will see how very serious we are. Watch and learn.”My heart sank. Before he could move though, another man clutched me from behind. I kicked and yelled. “You kill her, you’ll never find what I have, and you’ll all go down!”The man stopped moving. He’d pricked Kristy’s throat with his knife, but now he kept still. His head tilted.The man who was holding me in an iron grip spoke up. “Tell Campbell we have her and take that one out back and finish it.”I screamed as he covered my mouth with his hand, my gaze never leaving Kristy as the man dragged her out of sight. I fought with everything I had as he yanked me toward the parking lot. Without warning, he froze then lifted his head, sniffing the air. There, standing in front of us, was Mason, Isaac, Jonas, and Aaron. All four had the same rage-filled look, and Mason’s gaze never left me and the guy holding me.“How nice, the MacCowans came out to play.”The brothers didn’t even flinch. It was the first time I had heard Mason’s family called by their ancestral name by someone other than themselves. Everyone knew them as the Cowans. How did these men know them?
