Do You Ever Read a Book You KNOW You Won't Like?

The title of this post sounds ridiculous at a glance. Seriously, who on earth would buy and read a book they know they aren't going to like? For that matter, who on earth would even read a free book or a discounted book they know they aren't going to like?

And we all know, for the most part, whether we're going to like a book or not. Of course there are cases where it's not always easy to tell and we wind up disappointed in something we thought would be better. It's happened to me. But usually...

So Much for Over-Exposure: Writers Producing More Books Each Year Now

To say that I was slightly annoyed when I was told that I had "over-exposure" a couple of months ago would be an understatement. I was fucking livid. And that's because I think I try to be in touch with readers all the time. I hear them and I try to listen to what they want. I also think this article proves that nowadays, with a new digital market, it's hard to be over-exposed when readers are demanding more and more books.

And no author knows what book will resonate with readers. So the abili...

"Murder Most Deadly 1: False Evidence" by Jon Michaelsen"

I had a chance to read "Murder Most Deadly 1: False Evidence," by m/m fiction author, Jon Michaelsen, last week. It's a m/m romance novella, with a mystery/suspense theme that revolves around the main character's infatuation with an extremely attractive young man who lives in an adjacent building. The book is set in Atlanta, where some of my favorite books of all time have been set ("Peachtree Road" by Anne Rivers Siddens).

I hate to write reviews like this because I'm always worried I'll giv...

"Fifty Shades of Grey" Library Troubles

It seems there's now a controversy regarding that lovable, sometimes laughable, and always fascinating phenomenon called "Fifty Shades of Grey" that's taken almost everyone in publishing by absolute surprise. I read it and talked about it a few times. I liked it, too. Though I don't have any strong opinions about the writing because I see writing changing and evolving ALL the time these days...in other words, readers seem to LIKE certain things that wouldn't have been done ten or twenty years...

What is an Internet "Sockpuppet?"

I'm writing this short post because I've seen this happen before, and recently I've seen it crop up in a few places. Most people don't know what an Internet Sockpuppet is and I wanted to both explain it and warn people about it.

I've reached a point where I can spot sockpuppetry a mile away, pardon the cliche. They can be cheeky or vicious. But never sincere. I've recently suspected it on social media like facebook and twitter. The one thing about someone who practices sockpuppetry is that th...

Loveyoudivine.com Facebook Fan Page...

If you're on facebook, please take a quick stop at the Loveyoudivine.com fan page. It's a new fan page and I'm helping spread the word. And I'm not just spreading the word because I'm an author who has books published with them, or that I've been with them for almost seven years now. (I've never published with Silver Publishing but I would do it for them as well.)

I can say, without a hint of hesitation, that this one publisher has treated me and all their authors with absolute respect, hones...

Lit Agents Appeal to DOJ Settlement; Joe Konrath Responds to Lit Agents

For those who haven't been following what's going on with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and publishers, here's a link to learn more about it. Basically, it has to do with alleged collusion, allegedly keeping e-book prices higher, and interesting things like that.

The AAR, (Association of Author's Representatives), isn't pleased with a proposed settlement between the DOJ and publishers. And they banned together and wrote a long letter. Evidently there's this *thing* called The Tunney Act. And...
