Literary Agent Miriam Goderich Admits HUGE Mistake in Obama's Bio

First, we all make mistakes. The point of this post isn't political and it's not to target Miriam Goderich for making a mistake twenty years ago when she was an assistant. And, I am not, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be a "Birther." I find the entire "Birther" concept laughable at best.

I've been a regular reader of the Dystel & Goderich blog since it started. While I don't always agree with their posts because they tend to be slanted at times, I do respect them as publishing professio...

Next Amazon .99 KDP Release: "Jonah Sweet of Delancey Street"

Now that I've finally finished the contracted book with the pen name I've been working on, I can finally dig into edits with "Jonah Sweet of Delancey Street." Whenever I'm contracted to do a book, that contracted book comes first because I not only have a legal obligation, but also an ethical obligation to fulfill. But now that the pen name book is finished, I'm not contracted with anyone to do anything at the present time.

But I will still keep releasing short e-books with Loveyoudivine.com....

Would Facebook Users Pay to Use Facebook?

In this article I just read, the question of Facebook's value is discussed.

At the IPO price of $38 that was announced Thursday evening, Facebook is priced at the top of the $34-$38 range announced at its filing. That pegs the company's total value at an opening-day record of $104 billion -- and it will have roughly $16 billion more in its coffers come Friday morning. Put another way, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg now has enough cash on hand to buy 16 more Instagrams.

But some are concerned it'...

Fantasic Blog: Joe Mihalic Pays off ALL Student Loans

When Harvard grad, Joe Mihalic, found himself in debt with student loans reaching six figures, he didn't bitch and moan about it. He figured out a way to pay off his debt, and he did it with strength, not fear.

I think it's one of the best blogs I've read in years. I hope some smart publisher and literary agent track him down and they put this story into a book!

Better yet, I hope Joe writes the book himself, hires a copy editor and cover artist, and publishes his own book through the Amazon K...

Cool Fashion Web Sites: Street Retro Dot Com

I don't often post about things like this, but you can only take just so much publishing after a while. At least I get that way sometimes. And, life's too short to read boring things all the time. It gets tired. I like clothes; I like shoes especially. And it's not always easy to find what I like.

So I figured I'd share one of my new favorite web sites, streetretro.com. I found out about it from social media, and not in an advertisement either. Because I don't have time to shop, I often depen...

No More Facebook Ads for GM...

I've always been curious about how social media sites like facebook actually do make money. I know it's through advertising. But I often wonder whether or not that kind of advertising works. I've never clicked a facebook ad in my life, and do not intend to click one either. Most of the people I know who use facebook have never clicked on a facebook ad.

So there must be people clicking these ads somewhere, otherwise facebook wouldn't be worth so much money.

But could there be a glitch in this,...

Apple Wanted Readers to Pay More for E-books?

I've posted about the DOJ lawsuit before, and about literary agents writing letters because they feared a settlement would be "onerous" to publishing as we know it.

And now I'm linking to an article by Manufacturing.net that talks about how Apple allegedly wanted readers to pay more for e-books.

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote noted in her written ruling that Jobs had made statements that agreements between the publishers and Apple Inc., based in Cupertino, Calif., would cause consumers to "p...

The Kind of Crabs You Don't Find in Restaurants...

I've been researching a fairly common STI (sexually transmitted infections) for a new gay fiction book I'm working on with a pen name. Though I can't reveal the pen name or the title, and I'm not all that fond of the fact that I'm even using a pen name (publisher's suggestion, not mine), I figured I'd share some of the information I've learned about crabs...or pubic lice.

Most don't realize how common it is, and how easy it is to get. It's one of those things that can be transmitted through se...

Three Huge Mistakes Men Make Right After a Divorce

I normally wouldn't post something like this here on the blog. But the article was so good, and so on target, I decided to post it hoping men who are either recently divorced or are going through divorces take a moment and read it.

HERE IS THE LINK: YOU REALLY NEED TO READ IT AND NOT JUST ONCE.

We all know the cliched divorce, where the middle aged husband meets a twenty-something year old bimbo and leaves his devoted, spectacular, ever-loving wife of twenty-five years high and dry. Books have...

Irony

I know that divorce happens all the time. Unfortunately, it seems to be growing more popular. I've seen it with family members and it's probably almost as traumatic as death. For children, it's devastating. It's never easy, and it happens to both gay and straight couples.

But this photo below is kind of interesting when you think about it. I would never blast anyone for being divorced. I would never question someone's motives or morals for getting divorced. And yet a man who has been married...
