Big Brother 15 Racism Free Pass

Big Brother 15 Racism Free Pass

For the past thirteen years, every summer Tony and I have followed the saga of the Big Brother house guests on CBS. In the earlier days, pre-DVR, we would even bring blank video tapes on vacation with us to Provincetown so we could go back to our hotel room and watch what happened later at night. And BB is actually the only reality show of this nature we have continued to watch over the years. We grew tired of Survivor and American Idol a while ago. And aft...

We Don't Need Sex; Orson Scott Card Pleads

We Don't Need Sex

This time I'm not the one trying to define erotic romance, as I've posted here. In fact, I have mentioned this many times in various posts I've written, partly to explain to readers and partly to make note of it here for my own records.

I found the post to which I'm linking by accident last night, and I thought it was interesting because it's another take on the definition of erotic romance, which is a genre that most people seem to define on their own. Everyone see...

Buck Naked and Afraid; Kian Brown Letter to Paula Deen; Manhandled

Buck Naked and Afraid

There's a new reality TV show out called, Naked and Afraid, on the Discovery Channel and it's been making quiet headlines for the past few weeks. It's pop culture at its best, and there have been all kinds of comments from the mainstream media. I set the DVR and watched several episodes and I have to admit that even though I started watching with my tongue pressed to my cheek, I wound up liking it more than I thought I would.

First, get past the naked part. It's only a ch...

Fifty Shades; Abandoned Books; Facebook Infographics

Fifty Shades; Abandoned Books; Facebook Infographics

Galleycat published an article titled, The Most Abandoned Book List. Of course the infographic was created by goodreads.com, which makes me wonder how accurate it is and how they chose the data, but I thought it was interesting to see that Fifty Shades of Grey and The Causal Vacancy were up there in the top two.

Goodreads has created a great infographic exploring the books most often abandoned by readers on the social network. The Casual Vac...

Matt Bomer Normal Heart; AIDS Today; Zimmerman Trial

Matt Bomer Normal Heart

When I posted about Matt Bomer earlier this year doing the film version of the stage play, The Normal Heart, I made a point of following the story.

From January 5th

Matt Bomer is scheduled to star in Larry Kramer's "The Normal Heart" on HBO. It's going to be directed by Ryan Murphy (Glee), and will also star Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo.

In this case, I have a feeling it's going to be authentic with Murphy as the director. He tends to get a bit too political someti...

Amazon Reviews and E-mail Spamming; The Pocket Hose Gimmick

I hadn't planned on posting about this today, but I thought it was interesting. And I think it might be something other people might want to know if they decide to place product reviews on Amazon.

When you post a book review on Amazon for one of my books, I'm NOT going to spam you the moment the review goes live. And I don't think any of the publishers I work with are going to do that either. As a reader, I've never been spammed because of a book review I've left on Amazon.

But I...

I will e-mail the winner of the first prize because I have to send that snail mail.

And the second prize, an e-book of my upcoming release The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance, will be e-mailed to the winner as soo...

Overwhelming Irony; Legal Gay Divorce

When it comes to getting a legal gay divorce, there are so many new issues popping up, and it gets so complicated, I'm not going to even try to grasp all the issues in one small post. One thing is certain right now: if you don't live in a state where gay marriage is legal and you marry in a state where it is legal things can get complicated if you ever decide to divorce. If this article is correct, there could be a few serious ramifications.

The article from The Washington Post ment...

Free Excerpt: Fangsters

I like to post these free excerpts from books like Fangsters: Clan of the Jersey Boys on holiday weekends because I know a lot of people like me who don't always go away. Tony and I usually go away during the off season, plus we live in New Hope, which is a tourist town with a lot of things happening and it seems pointless to miss everything that's going on in our own proverbial backyard.

So here's an excerpt that hasn't been published before. You can read more about the book here, with a ful...

Gay Country Music Star Steve Grand

Gay Country Music Star Steve Grand

With the blog hop for equal rights this weekend I thought it would be appropriate to post something about gay country music star, Steve Grand, because he's making history, promoting equal rights, and breaking the stereotypes at the same time. I saw one post earlier today that linked to a Steve Grand post with a less than thrilling comment thread...pure garbage and filled with the kind of snark I don't tolerate anymore. But I did a simple search and found an...
