California and First Openly Gay Man Going to Congress, Ryan Field Books

California and First Openly Gay Man Going to Congress

Here's another political win for an openly gay immigrant. And also for the entire LGBTQIA community. I never take these things for granted.

It seems as though every time an openly gay person gets elected to office it's the first time. But I never get tired of seeing it happen. And it truly inspires and amazes me how the mainstream will actually elect gay people.

In this case, it's someone named Robert Garcia and he's currently the mayor of Lon...

Get This: There's a Gay Republican Heading to Congress, Ryan Field Books

Get This: There's a Gay Republican Heading to Congress

I always find it interesting when the mainstream (and some gay people) realize that there are, indeed, gay Republicans. I'm not, but I know a few personally. Aside from politics, I've always found them to be very nice people, just like my gay Democrat friends. And in several cases, because of the nasty politics we see lately, several of these gay Republicans are in the closet. And they only talk about it with close friends.

Well, this is a s...

A Piece About Why it Took Gay Rights So Long, Ryan Field Books

A Piece About Why it Took Gay Rights So Long

This is an excellent piece that starts out with how a man named Henry Gerber was persecuted by the straights for starting what many believe is the first gay rights organization. That happened in 1925 and we have been fighting for our rights ever since.

We are still fighting for quality today, but in different ways. The right wing red states want to silence us and send us back into the closet, and the left wing so-called allies continue to appropriate ...

Book News: Draft2Digital Acquires Mark Coker's Smashwords, Ryan Field Books

Book News: Draft2Digital Acquires Mark Coker's Smashwords

I remember going to a dinner party back in the late 90s and one of the guests worked in the art department of Random House. At the time, I was getting short stories published for the Gay/Lesbian Presses like Alyson Books. And I remember this guy telling us that soon there would be digital reading devices that people would use in place of hard copy books. Even though several people just waved him off and laughed, I found it all fascinating...

Guy Who Won Gay Rights Case with SCOTUS Settles Lawsuit, Ryan Field Books

Guy Who Won Gay Rights Case with SCOTUS Settles Lawsuit

Gerald Bostock was one of three cases where SCOTUS ruled that LGBTQIA people are protected from discrimination in workplaces.

And now, a county in Georgia has decided to settle on a lawsuit with him. The county settled with Gerald Lynn Bostock for 825K. Bostock believes he was fired in 2013 because he's gay.

Bostock made a statement that he's thrilled he won and that it's finally over. I'm sure he is.

Here's where you can read more. It goes...

The Straight Media Outlets Support Gayface With Harry Styles in "The Policeman," Ryan Field Books

The Straight Media Outlets Support Gayface With Harry Styles in "The Policeman"

Before I say anything else, I'd like to make it clear I like the author of this article, I've met him on Twitter, and he's a very nice guy.

I just started seeing the film, The Policeman, show up on Amazon Prime and every time I see it I want to gag. No, I will not be watching this. I have watched Harry Styles queer baiting for months and I have no interest in watching another straight play gayface in a film or TV sho...

There Have Always Been Gay Rural Country People, Ryan Field Books

There Have Always Been Gay Rural Country People

Sometimes I see these headlines and I just shake my head and wonder what are these people thinking. Of course there have always been gay country people living quiet lives in rural areas. There are gay people everywhere. We just don't know it all the time.

With that said, when I owned my art gallery in New Hope, I would often see gay men of all ages walking through town. It was just for the day. They would stop and we would talk, and many would purc...

Gay People In Russia Terrified of the Future, Ryan Field Books

Gay People In Russia Terrified of the Future

I've been posting about anti-gay Russia for years now and nothing seems to be improving. If anything, it's getting worse.

Once again Putin is clamping down on LGBTQ freedoms in Russia and many are worried about what is to come next. I know I would be worried.

Ever since the gay propaganda laws were passed, life has been challenging for LGBTQ people. For example, they can't allow anyone under 18 into a simple g-rated LGBTQ art show. The reason being is ...

Irish Priest Says Varadkar and all Gay Politicians Will Go To Hell, Ryan Field Books

Irish Priest Says Varadkar and all Gay Politicians Will Go To Hell

Now some ridiculous Irish priest is telling gay politicians they are going to hell for being gay. He better watch out. He might wind up in hell for being so cruel.

On top of this, the old Priest slammed gays, trans people, and abortion rights. After this went down the bishop apologized for what the priest said and also stated that his opinions do not "represent the Christian position." Good for the bishop.

The homophobic priest a...

Patrick Haggerty, Older Gay Country Star, Dies,

Patrick Haggerty, Older Gay Country Star, Dies

I have to admit that I never heard of Patrick Haggerty. I'm not a huge fan of country music. But I wish I had known more about Haggerty. He sounds fascinating.

This guy dates back to 1973 when almost no one was openly gay, especially not in the country music business. But like me with regard to my books, he knew he had to make a choice. Either spend his life in hiding or just go out there and be himself. And just like me, he chose to be himself. I ac...
