3 Reasons Why Thankful Leaders are More Successful
As leaders in professional and/or personal life, here are three reasons why having a mindset of gratitude can completely alter the trajectory of your vision and perspective, making you even more valuable to those around you
Its important and healthy to notice and appreciate the many blessings in our lives.
When I look back at all the good things that have happened over my life, I thank God for the way he has opened and closed doors as I made decisions.
Gratitude brings a positive effect on our mind and heart.
We spend so much time and energy solving problems that it can slowly begin to wear us down and even create a negative mindset. Having a positive mindset is powerful for success.
Great leaders show appreciation and gratitude for their people.
When you let someone know that you appreciate them and their contributions, they feel energized and usually work harder. Additionally, they believe in themselves, which means they grow in both confidence and humility, enabling them to perform at a higher level.
Pause and Reflect
Lets all pause and set aside the challenges that we are facing and take a 100,000-foot perspective on our lives.

More than 12,000 spectators at the MGM Grand Hotel watched Foreman dethrone Moorer, who went into the fight with a 35-0 record.

There are many shades of faith. Faith in God, faith in country, faith in yourself, faith in family, and faith in your soulmate. Everybody has their own combination of these kinds of faith, but regardless, people with strong faith create the strongest couples. – Bob & Suzanne Barnett

Coaching Blog Gratitude: The Life-Giving Antidote to Leadership Challenges
While most of us are operating at a very fast pace these days, lately Ive realized how important it is to intentionally slow down and spend some time cultivating a perspective of gratitude and thanks. And even though Thanksgiving Day can be caught up in the busyness of food, family, fun, and big football rivalries, how fortunate we are to have a dedicated holiday reminder to focus on being grateful.
My brief coaching clip this month explains this idea even further. Please watch, and then continue reading the blog below

As leaders in professional and/or personal life, here are three reasons why –
Its important and healthy to notice and appreciate the many blessings in our lives.
When I look back at all the good things that have happened over my life, I thank God for the way he has opened and closed doors as I made decisions. Like some of the other stories in our book, Captured by Love, Im glad that many choices were out of my control.
Meeting Mary, the love of my life and my wife for almost 49 years, was a divine appointment that I didnt orchestrate. Because of this God-given relationship, I have been incredibly blessed with so many positive and fulfilling things in life and career.
Gratitude brings a positive effect on our mind and heart.
We spend so much time and energy solving problems that it can slowly begin to wear us down and even create a negative mindset. Having a positive mindset is powerful for success.
Additionally, if you have read any of my books on leadership lessons from the POW camps and the lives we lived afterwards, you know how crucial our positive perspective was for helping us survive, thrive, and return home physically and mentally healthy. After surviving a shoot-down and capture, even in that harsh environment, we were just thankful to be alive and together with our teammates.
These are just some ideas that came to my mind this month. I encourage you to take time to reflect and focus on the many blessings that have made your life special. Lets all pause and set aside the challenges that we are facing and take a 100,000-foot perspective on our lives. I believe that most of us will see that there is much to be thankful for.
