Lois on History Channel

Being on this show was a lot of fun for me. I still can't believe they asked me to be on the program!
I was later asked to appear on a Monster Cake show on the Food Channel, but I couldn't attend. Too bad - because the Cake show would have been a blast, too.
As an aside, note the strange orange hair. When camera lights hit my reddish hair, it looks as if my head's going up in flames. While you can't tell from the video, the director coated my face in heavy white powder.
My portion of...

Stephanie Plum Reading Challenge 2010

Okay, stupid ol' me. I'm gonna do this one, too, for the same reason that I'm signing up for the Thriller challenge. I read these books anyway, so I might as well have fun and participate in a challenge, right?
If you want to do this challenge, too, here's the info:
Go to Home Girl's Book Blog for the details.
Guidelines:

1) The goal is to get caught up on the Stephanie Plum series, so create a list of the books you haven't read yet. You have between now and December 31, 2010. Don't include...

Perugia, Italy: author photos

The first photo was shot "on top of" the subterranean caverns where I was an author GOH at a festival in Perugia, Italy.
The second photo was taken in one of the tunnels where the crowd walked to the various presentations.
The third photo shows the audience in the room where I spoke about my books.  Yes, those are cannons on the stone walls.
The Perugia festival was one of the most interesting experiences I've had as a writer.  Perugia is a medieval town tucked away into the Italian...

ZOMBIE LOVE-FEST!

ZOMBIE LOVE-FEST

As soon as I heard the title, HUNGRY FOR YOUR LOVE: AN ANTHOLOGY OF ZOMBIE ROMANCE, I knew that Lori Perkins had a winner. The notion of zombie romance was new, fun, and totally crazy! I loved it.

Lori pulled together a great collection of stories and published the e-antho under her Ravenous Romance banner. She quickly sold print rights to St. Martin's Press, and the trade paper edition of HUNGRY FOR YOUR LOVE will be available in October, 2010.

Always up for a good time...

How (Not) to Pose for an Author Photo

Being new to e-books and blogging, I've been fascinated by online author photos.

Mine (current photo is to the right) is terrible, probably one of the worst head shots in the e-zone.

Some women go to a salon for an upswept do or a downswept "casual yet Hollywood-tease" look. Some apply heavy makeup. Some put on semi-formal evening attire. There are full-face photos, 3/4 profile shots, and that cutesy "prop your chin on your hand" format.

I haven't looked much at male author ...

BEACH BUM PHOTOS - relax and dream

These photos are for all authors who are stuck in a basement office with a keyboard, working in a closet under the "socks" shelf, writing a book in bed because you don't have a desk, or slaving away on your book at midnight after putting in a 10-hour day job shirt and taking care of your family.
THIS IS FOR YOU!
Relax under a virtual palm tree and stare at the waves. Gaze at the white sand. Dream.
Come to think of it,  what am I doing here (currently writing a book in bed because I don't...
