New additions to the family!
Two cats rescued!!
My brother and his family have adopted two black rescue cats from the local shelter. Today they picked up “Jewel” and they dropped by my mom’s place so we could meet the new kitty. She is a very lovely looking cat. She was just spayed and they had her wearing a cone around her neck so she could not get at her stitches. But that didn’t stop her from exploring the house. She was stretching and prancing around and very happy to be out of a cage. Chee Chee (my cat) was quite irritated with the newbie and stayed in her room.

Because the second cat was ill with a respiratory infection when they picked him, the shelter is treating him until he is better and then he will be neutered. His name is “Timmy” and they will be picking him up in a week or two. Originally my brother and family were only going to get one cat to replace their one black who had gone missing just after the ice storm in Dec 2013…but they decided to rescue two cats instead. They just left to go home and will be introducing Jewel to their black lab “Tracker”…it should be an interesting meeting between dog and cat. LOL
We are in the middle of yet another snowstorm today…and another one is coming Wednesday…it’s been one looooooooong tough winter and I will be very happy to see Spring.

OMG! Robins spotted!!
Just heard in the news that a couple of robins have been spotted in Mississauga, Ontario Canada! Just down the highway from us. OMG! Do they know something that we don’t??? Is Spring on the way or are the robins crazy?
We have more snow on the way – a storm on Saturday and another next week? Hmm, perhaps the robins are just teasing us? I hope not because I am winter weary *le sigh* Let’s all wait for Groundhog Day and see what the groundhogs have to say. I hope it is good news.
On the book front – I have 5,000 words for Sophie’s Ménage and 24,000 words for Inner Girl Rising…both stories are still going strong! With SM I had to delete a big portion as the story wanted to go another way so I had to go with it and that is why it hasn’t progressed as quickly as I had hoped. *smile* But the new version is hotter!!
My parent’s old house continues to grieve me…lol…the radiant heating in the room I am sleeping in has died…the fuses are working so I have to get a new thermostat…but in the meantime I purchased a lovely warm heater for the room. The radiant heater in the bathroom went awhile ago…talk about chilly showers! Brrr…Brrr…on a good note, Mom is thinking about getting one of those nice bathtubs with soothing water jets…oooolala! We will see.

Digging Out!
Wow! We are digging out from yet another snowstorm/blizzard. The cross winds last night were clocked at 100 km/hr in our area and boy oh boy did we discover that this old house is not as weatherproofed as we had hoped. We could feel air coming in through the electrical outlets on the side of the house the wind was hitting. Very interesting! LOL
I taped the outlets with electrical tape and placed a heavy duty blanket over the window to dampen the noise of the wind…it worked…room got toasty and we slept good!
Alas today my parent’s red brick house is a white snow house with three foot drifts here and there…there was a break in the weather and I got the driveway cleared and now it is snowing again. LOL
Ahhhhh winter…I want to win a lottery so I can buy a nice little trailer down in Florida and spend my winters there. Who wants to join me *grin*
Ohhhh dear, TWO snow plows just went by…off to get rid of the windrows!

Guess who is sleeping in my bed?
Look who I caught sleeping in my bed. LOL
The anti-social, half feral, ankle biter CheeChee is slowly being domesticated now that she is the only cat in the house. She is addicted to Temptations and luvs to cuddle…but only for very short bursts of time. Alas, I do keep trying. *grin*
The edits for Attracted to Her have been turned into my Ellora’s Cave editor and we should have a release date soon.
“Inner Girl Rising” won’t make the EC deadline but I have been invited to submit the story through regular channels…when I finish it. I am working on “Sophie’s Menage” – the Key Club 4 today. Spanking will be the naughty theme!

Another ER visit for Mom
We had another gall bladder adventure trip to Emergency last night. My poor 82 year old mom made the bad mistake of eating a couple of pieces of salami with a white bun yesterday. And I suspect she snuck in some chocolate and potato chips too…lol
It’s one of the things when you are told not to eat certain foods and all you can do is think about eating them…That is her. She began experiencing the same type of pains she’s been getting off and on over the past several months. So we called TeleHealth and they said she should go to the hospital to get it checked out.
Emergency was packed to the rafters with sickies and folks with broken bones and we hope we didn’t pick up anything…but I did stock up today on Gravol, cough candies, toilet paper etc…just in case. Alot of little babies were in ER too. The sweet dears.
6 hours later – thankfully no vomiting or nausea and her pain had gone away. She’s been given a clean bill of health (aside from a third time diagnosis of gall stones) with instructions to not eat ANY foods with fat if she wants to save her gallbladder. LOL She was devastated until we checked on the computer and discovered there are still tons of food you can eat – fruits and vegetables, tuna and chicken and turkey (no red meats), no dairy products (she loves her dairy) and no white processed foods…so yes to whole grains and brown. Healthy eating all the way! I told her that I would join her on this diet and she was happy.
For lunch we had a little bit of red wine with a nice salad of green lettuce, green beans, some water based tuna, and I dumped some hot corn into the mix. Salt, pepper and vinegar with just a touch (1/2 tsp mayo) and she loved her meal. So did I.
Ohhh but she doesn’t know that I snuck in a piece of cheese and chips for myself when she wasn’t looking, so shhhhhh…
