Bond Night — Jane Austen Feature
Howdy. Monthly for over three years, a girlfriend and I meet at my house for what we've termed Bond Nights. We originally started out watching every single James Bond film in order (except the worst one ever made in my opinion — Moonraker– that one we skipped, but don't tell Mr. Lyons because he considers that against the rules). Anyway, earlier this year when we ran out of Bond films (my scream could be heard echoing through the night) she suggested Jane Austen films. So thanks to Netflix...

No Plot? No Problem!
Before I get to today's post, a quick explanation: my mind and attention constantly jump and flitter about, my focus rarely staying where I want it but instead hopping around like a manic flea hyped up on caffeine. I'm learning to go with it and not beat myself up because I do get things accomplished, just not necessarily in the way I would choose to. Fortunately, with a recent ADD/ADHD diagnosis, I at least have an explanation for the things I do that drive myself (and Mr. Lyons) bonkers.

Woot! June Sales
I've always been a firm believer that ignorance truly is bliss. It may not be the best thing for you, depending upon the topic or circumstances, but in today's climate, when so much crappy news is flying at you so fast and from so many directions, I believe finding peace in your personal corner is paramount, and often in order to do that, the best thing we can do is not worry about everything else.
Yesterday, being the first of July, and the end of my third month a self-published author, I...

Is the Internet frakking with our friendships?
Hi all – To read my thoughts on how the Internet has changed the way we communicate, and weigh in on whether or not you think it's to our benefit or detriment, I invite you to join in the discussion at author Amber Skyze's blog where I'm a guest today.
WRITING STATUS:
It's been a good week. I just returned edits on a short story I hope to release in July and I'm putting the final word-tweak touches on a series of interconnected erotica stories set in the Regency I'll send to my editor within...

Unpublished Authors – Do You Need a Website?
A writer friend recently posed this question and I thought it'd make a good blog topic, so here goes…
*And this is solely my opinion. If you have another one or if you've heard differently at a writer's conference or from an agent or editor, chime in!*
QUESTION: I'm unpublished but I'm working on a story (or three) I plan to finish and hope to submit within the next year. Do I need a website?
LARISSA'S ANSWER: No, you don't need one. Would it be fun — or cool — to have? Probably. Could it help y...

Jumping In
I keep pussyfooting around, wanting the blog design to be perfect and my desk clear (as if that ever happens) before I make some profound beginning blog. I've blogged solo a few times in the past but tend not to stick with it. I seem to walk a convoluted, twisting line, not knowing what might be interesting to others, what might be too personal to share, how much is enough (i.e., how often to post), wondering how do I entertain with pithy observations while still managing to get in the...
